Pissing In The Wind...

You'll forgive me if I don't get too broken up about the Gitmo prisoner whose Koran was spattered with some wind aided urine from a prisoner guard peeing outside the prison. I'm relatively certain I've been peed on more in the last 24 hours than all Korans combined ever have been...

Yes, since my return from the C-SPAN studios Saturday morning I've been house-breaking one of our 3 year-old twins. His brother was already trained, but the younger of the twins wasn't up for it on the first go round, and frankly neither were his parents. In hindsight trying to potty train twins on the same weekend was ludicrous, especially when the one who is finally in the process of getting trained should be nicknamed, "Firehose."

Anyway, "Firehose" has finally been aimed and trained...

As an unrepentant dyed in the wool loony lefty
radical curmudgeon from the days of my youth
across the pond with Bertrand Russell and the
CND, I just wanted to congratulate both you and
Steve on your C-SPAN gig. A refreshing change to
hear civilised discourse from opposing sides.

I'm fairly sure I've farted in the same room as a Koran. Is that a problem?

Ok Kevin

Fess up. I want the secret to one weekend potty training

Now, I did so pretty easily with my daughters when they were about 2 1/2, but #2 daughter is tearing her hair out with her 31 month old twin sons.

It has been so far, shall we say, hit and miss.

I finally managed to find the article you referred to and I must say it was a hoot. I haven't seen or heard of delusions THAT bad since the time my doctor kept me under for a week while I was in the hospital and I thought I was an international crime fighter and the hospital staff were trying to murder me.

This Koran nonsense is utte... (Below threshold)

This Koran nonsense is utterly ridiculous. I'd like to think the American Media is just looking for "enthralling" stories, but sadly, it is a clear case of Liberal Media Bias. How else do you explain the significant lack of coverage of the SUCCESSES in the war effort? Or, on the converse, there is typically very sparse outrage from CNN et al when Americans (and others) are captured and/or murdered live on Al Jazeera. I'd like to think that we are United, but sometimes I wonder. The ACLU and Amnesty International, in comparing Gitmo to the Russian Gulags have lost whatver little respect I ever had for them. Those organizations seem to always be looking for the "bad" in their own country's efforts.

When I referred to the article you recommended as a "delusion", I meant it was the delusion of its authors, not you. No offense intended.

Wouldn't that imply that it was the will of Allah that the urine was blown in that direction?

Bad Allah! Stop peeing on Korans!

The serious issue, which is... (Below threshold)
Tony-man:

The serious issue, which is lost in all of this distaseful scorn, is how long can you put up with the Bush Administrations CONSTANT lying.

First Bush says we will get Bin Laden dead or alive, then he says he doesn't know or care where Bin Laden, is and he doesn't care or think about it much.

Then the Administartion says we must invade Iraq because Saddam bought yellowcake from Africa and is on the verge of NUKES, then they have to admit, Saddam did no such thing.

Then they say Iraq was behind 9/11, then we find out in the 9/11 commission report that Iraq had nothing to do with it.

Then Bush and Cheney actually have the nerve to CLAIM they NEVER said Iraq was behind 9/11, even in the face of numerous quotes when they did!

Then they say the war will not last very long, there won't be an insurgency, and the war will not be expensive because the Iraqis will greet us with flowers, and it turns out they never had an exit strategy, there IS a neverending insurgency, and the war is costing $5.8 Billion a month.

Then they say prisoners aren't being abused, and later we have to look at photographs of naked men piled up, dragged, being electrocuted, and attacked by dogs.

Now they say Newsweek is reporting LIES when they report the Koran was flushed down a toilet, and then they have to admit, okay, the Koran wasn't flushed...it was merely PISSED on! Along with 5 other confirmations of guards kicking it, standing on it, writing obscenities in it, and splashing it with water balloons.

Why is it that everytime the Bush administration says ANYTHING, the opposite of what they say turns out to be the truth?! Aren't you SICK of it yet?

And PLEASE don't insult your own intellegence, and mine, with the cockamamie story about the guards intention to piss into the wind, which just happened to blow into an air vent, which just happened to lead to a prison cell, which just happened to splash onto a prisoner reading his Koran.

Yeah right. I'm speaking as someone who once believed the Iraq war was a correct thing to do. But now I'm sick and tired of the constant lies the Bush Administration tells about it.

Maybe some of you are happy to have your president constantly LIE to you, and maybe you have an endless supply of rationalizations to explain away his lies. I am not nearly so patient. We're not patient with our CHILDREN lying to us, yet we're supposed to tolerate...and even ENJOY...the President lying?

Frankly, I'm plumb out of rationalizations and justifications. There is no justification for this constant stream (no pun intended) of intentional and deliberate misleading statements. I've had enough.

Tony-you know the liberals ... (Below threshold)
sue:

Tony-you know the liberals definition of "Lying" is whenever something turns out not to be so, even if there is widespread belief in it.

Conservatives define "lying" as saying something knowing full well that it is not true.

Therefore we don't listen to you.

You've gone on a rant. But you know, to quote John Kerry, "saying it doesn't make it so."

On one point though I have a question. You said "Then Bush and Cheney actually have the nerve to CLAIM they NEVER said Iraq was behind 9/11, even in the face of numerous quotes when they did!"

What quotes are these? And "the war on terror" is not the same thing as saying that Iraq was behind 9/11.

Put up, or go back to Kos or DU to do your ranting.

Wendigo:

Wouldn't that imply that it was the will of Allah that the urine was blown in that direction?

Bad Allah! Stop peeing on Korans!

We've heard of Djinn, right? They can do all kinds of things without asking Allah first.

Conservatives define "lying" as saying something knowing full well that it is not true.

Funny, that's my definition as well. Just because it's believed OUT HERE doesn't mean it's believed in the White House.

As far as 9-11 and Iraq goes...how can anyone claim that Bush hasn't been trying to treat the two as though they're linked? Find me a single speech about Iraq in which Bush didn't warm over the 9-11 hash he's been feeding us for years now. A single one.

Hell, chances are he mentioned them at least once in the same sentence in any given speech.
