Let's *Really* Compare U.S. Soldiers to Nazis

So I see Democrat Senator Dick Durbin has been comparing U.S. soldiers to Nazis because they turned the A/C down during an interrogation.

On one occasion, the air conditioning had been turned down so far and the temperature was so cold in the room, that the barefooted detainee was shaking with cold. On another occasion, the [air conditioner] had been turned off, making the temperature in the unventilated room well over 100 degrees.

...If I read this to you and did not tell you that it was an FBI agent describing what Americans had done to prisoners in their control, you would most certainly believe this must have been done by Nazis, Soviets in their gulags, or some mad regime--Pol Pot or others--that had no concern for human being.

Have you ever seen a Hypothermia Chart? Basically it is a chart that tells you that if you get dumped into cold water how long you can expect to live. ie: If your boat sinks -or Ted Kennedy is driving- and you get dumped into 50 degree water, you'll have about an hour to be rescued before hypothermia sets in and you die.

This data has saved thousands of lives... But have you ever wondered how we got it??? I mean, you can't exactly throw people in cold water and see how long it takes for them to die now can you?

That's exactly how we got that data.

Nazi scientists took Jews, threw them in cold water and timed how long it took them to die.

That is the group of people Democrat Dick Durban is comparing U.S. soldiers to because they left the A/C on during an interrogation.

Dick Durbin is ignorant of history, a complete jackass, and owes everyone in uniform an apology -- then he should resign.

It's too hot, it's too cold. What are we running down there, a nursing home? Give me a room with a half dozen people in it and you'll have at least one that is dissatisfied with the temperature.

What about our troops, in their shitty country, with no A/C at all? Call Amnesty International, we have an issue here!

I just finished reading Leahy's statement on the detainee hearing. Just as bad. Interesting about his statement was concerning the Adminstration working with Congress instead of unilaterly. What a joke. These guys are far from ready to work with Bush. The Dem's just don't have any viable solutions, just bashing. What is also sad is the Rep's regurgitating the same bile. Why are idiots like this in office anyways?

It's ok to attack Saddam because of this, but when the Bush admin is doing it, you castigate somebody who brings it to light. BTW, he's reading from an official FBI report, these guys hate America too?

These "terrorists" have never been convicted, haven't even been on trial, could very easily have been corraled in a mass round up. The bottom line is you just don't know.Call them terrorists after they have been convicted, nobody has a problem with that.

I recommend you reading the whole report, not just pick out some A/C quote and think if you were in the same position you would say just about anything.

Gordon, not sure what you mean by "Bush's War". I believe that congress was in session and voted for the "War" also. That makes it everyone one's war. When are the Dem's going to offer some real discussion and quit playing the "blame-game"? Don't you guys get it. Other than his pitiful military record, Kerry tried the same mantra and the voters shoved it down his throat. You guys need a new angle.

So now we have mass graves, torture rooms and rape rooms? Gordo- your statement makes you appear to be a sensationalist liberal a-hole. Either that, or you can't tell the difference between your ass and a hole in the ground. Learn from Durbin's mistake: THINK before you speak!

Letter to U.S. Senator RICHARD DURBIN

Your recent disturbing remarks about the President and America regarding comparing Mr. Bush and America’s handling of Terrorist Prisoners to the evil dictators and concentration camps of WW II and Viet Nam puts you in the camp of the enemy.

Though America is not perfect, we surely are the most compassionate nation to ever have gone to WAR since America’s inception. Mr. Durbin, WAR is not, nor has it ever been, also perfect. You and your liberal colleagues have hung a chain around the necks of our country’s true leaders and the soldiers that they lead in processing this war, what with your PC mentality verses the evil intentions of our enemies. Who, under no circumstances, could not care less about any human compassion that might be given to them. Their terms are DEATH or Islamic acceptance.

Personally, I believe even if the West gave them everything they demanded it would still mean DEATH to those that gave in to them. Look at the history of the NAZI’S, the Japanese Emperor, Stalin and Pol Pot. There is no reward for compromising with EVIL. Just ask the British vs the NAZIS and President Roosevelt vs Stalin, President Truman vs North Korea and President Nixon vs the Vietnam Tragedy.

Compromise either causes one to lose the WAR against EVIL or lengthens the WAR to such a point that the win or loss becomes neither a win or loss, but an unfinished trauma, such as the 50 year standoff with North Korea that prevails to this day.

Please Sir, re-read Amendment XIV, Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution and see how close you have come in engaging in an insurrection or rebellion against your country or given aid or comfort to its enemies. It is time to discard the partisan rhetoric, personality bashing and false compassion for our enemies and let America get ON WITH IT. If you open your eyes, you can certainly see the vast positive changes going on in the Middle East in recent months. WAR was the ONLY way these changes could have happened in our life time. A gamble, yes, but sometimes a gambler may finally step away from the table a WINNER.

Haven't you heard what a hard time they're having meeting recruiting goals? Don't you guys support what the President's trying to do? Don't you want to help him succeed in his war?

Yeah, Congress stupidly gave him AUTHORIZATION to use military force. They handed him a loaded gun. But the decision to fire it was his. (Okay, maybe Cheney's -- but you get the idea.)

You've got no idea of what you're talking about, you apparently have no grasp of the facts of the situation, and you definitely don't have the courage of your phony convictions.

Oh really. First of all how asinine to say Bush or Cheney 'decided' to have this war. I should disregard you simply from that ignorant statement as obviously you lack basic knowledge. We hawks do know what we're talking about. We're informed, we're intelligent and we have a realistic vision. Read outside of NYT and DU. Many of us have military background or receive reliable info from them and others truly in the know. From this we realize that a future in the democrat party /appeasement line is undignified, dangerous and frankly unAmerican. The reasonable and strategic attitude is one that protects America's welfare (read our children and our freedom) andnurturess democracy and charity for this entire world. This discerning benevolent perspective drives us and thankfully our president and this administration.

you definitely don't have the courage of your phony convictions. So what'll it be? More AC and rice pilaf bullshit about how good they have it in Gitmo, or getting out there and lending a hand? Our convictions are phony how? As for serving in armed forces my father, his father, and my brothers did it for me. My father is a Silver Star Marine and enlisted the day after Pearl Harbor. He ingrained in us the love for country and yes a faith in her defenders. I, as a thirty-something mother of four sons hope to ingrain that in our own boys. As for serving, there are many ways of defending. We who search, study, care, and understand do battle in many ways. While we may not sign on in uniform and would never claim to have the valor of our armed counterparts we do believe the same certitude - our country is innately good and it is worth any amount of work and sacrifice to keep her whole, safe and prosperous. For we know that America is ultimately a good nation and all the efforts from its citizens to protect and sustain her bounty is admirable work.

Liberals go ahead gnash your teeth and defend, help, and relate to our enemies. Just know no matter how hard you protest you shall end up on the wrong side of history and on the wrong side of good and evil as well as the wrong side of smart and stupid.
