Tony Blair is leaving G8. I missed it but apparently he made a very strong speech from the G8.
FoxNews is now saying it was 4 bombs but because the bombs were underground so the explosions went to multiple topside locations and therefor people thought there were 7 attacks.
"The tube" (subway system) has been shut down.
Fox news: Scotland yard: 4 attack locations, 7 bombs. (confused yet?)
WaPo 2 dead 190 injured -- Al Qeada claims responsibility threatens Danish and Italians if they don't pull troops from Iraq.
Bush Speaking: Stepping up security in US transportation systems. "Terrorism bad we good" (ok I paraphrased.)
Mayor of London speaking from Singapore: Terrorism plan being executed. "Do not travel, stay at home until all clear is given." It's terrorism. (duh) Heh- London Mayor smack talks the terrorists. This was better than "Bring it on." I'll try to get a print quote. Great Speech. Would have made Churchill proud.
Interesting:
Netanyahu Changed Plans Due to WarningIsrael now denies, see below.
JERUSALEM - British police told the Israeli Embassy in London minutes before Thursday's explosions that they had received warnings of possible terror attacks in the city, a senior Israeli official said.Israeli Finance Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had planned to attend an economic conference in a hotel over the subway stop where one of the blasts occurred, and the warning prompted him to stay in his hotel room instead, government officials said.
OK Fox is doing a wrapup: AP Confirmed 3 in tube, one in a bus. Airports in Britain open.
Scotland yard: 7 explosions / London Metropolitan police say 6
Underground rescues in progress.
300 hospitalized 150 serious - Fox reporter in London (Sky news) 7 bombs still working guess on explosions.
(since someone asked via mail, London is 5 hours ahead of New York BTW)
Yahoo Slide Show It is rather lame since most of the damage is underground. (link fixed)
Al Qeada Letter Claiming Responsibility
"Rejoice, community of Muslims," the letter states. "The heroic mujahedeens today conducted an attack in London," it continues. All of Great Britain is now shaken and shocked, "in the north, the south, west and east." "We've warned the British government and the British people time and again," the letter adds. "We've kept our promise and have carried out a blessed military operation.""We continue to warn the governments of Denmark and Italy and all other crusader governments." We demand that all countries pull their troops out of Afghanistan and Iraq, states the letter, which has been signed by the "Secret Organization -- al Qaida in Europe."
While G8 meetings normally bring out the environments terrorists and kooks, I'm pretty sure this is going to be Al Qeada.
Skynews: 45 dead, 1000 wounded, 150 serious -- [In Britain they use the word casualties to mean anyone injured. (as opposed to in the States where we mean deaths) so if you hear "1000 casualties" it means injuries. FYI]
Fellow Wizbanger and Townhaller Mary Katharine Ham sends a snippet from the London Mayor's smack talking the terrorists I mentioned above. She is liveblogging the attack here. Thanks MKH.
"I know that you personally do not fear to take your own life...but I know you do fear that you will fail in your long-term goals...Look at our airports, looks at our railway stations ...People from around the world will arrive in London to become Londoners...They come to be free...They flee you because you tell them how they should live...and nothing you ever do will stop that flight to our cities, where freedom is strong. No matter how many you kill, you will fail."
We'll fight them on the beaches!

Press Conference in London with official numbers... (A clearer picture is starting to emerge)
First Bombing: 100 yards into train tunnel 7 confirmed fatalities.
Second bombing: Train bombing, 21 confirmed fatalities
Third Bombing: 3 trains involved with 5 confirmed fatalities
Fourth Bombing: Bus pictured above - Some fatalities but can not confirm numbers
They have to inspect every train before they can run them again. A massive task they are trying to finish by the morning rush.
U.S. Trains on Orange Alert
I like Tony Blair. I love the way British people speak. But the way Blair delivered his initial statement vacillated between his best Hugh Grant impression and his worst George W. Bush impression.I guess I should add an Indeed.
I'm EXTREAMLY Skeptical that there will another attack this afternoon. In fact, I openly doubt this guy in NYC has any inside info of note. But having said htat, I have some reason to give this some weight. And in my mind the blogosphere is about giving news at face value and letting the consumer decided. So I did.
Israel denies the Netanyahu story above. I sorta wondered if it was true myself. We heard the same crap after 9/11. Anti-semetic people trying to stir stuff up. Dumbasses.

Any group that refers to a cowardly attack on civilians as "blessed" or a "military attack" is out of it's collective mind. When they put it all together and throw the urging of the readers to rejoice they need to be wiped off the face of the earth. There aren't enough prison cells on earth to hold this many criminally insane people.

If I were a betting person my bet would be that Arab terrorists did not act alone. There is something in the style and timing of this that seems odd. Minimum casualites just isn't their style. It's just too coincidential that with all of the rabid little anarchists/leftists/militant moonbats disrupting with acts of violence the G8 summit in Scotland this happens now in London.
Leftist terrorists in collusion with Arab terrorists fighting a common enemy - Bush, capitalism, globalism, whatever - yep, I could see it.
Thoughts, anyone?

Ok, yes, the G8 protesters' activities seem pretty pointless now, and its probably time for them to wrap up the stilts and colorful costumes and go home. But al-qaida cells certainly wouldn't need or use them -- after all, they're still infidels. A Qaida group pulled off the Madrid bombings in much the same way without any "friendly leftists", and besides, its usually "rightist" groups with whom they would even consider identifying (remember the old white supremacist survivalists-al-qaida connection stories during the Okla. City bombing?)
BTW dunno how many have spent time in London, but the ethnic communities there are VERY insulated. It wouldn't be too hard to have a cell operating right in the city, even with the pretty damned good security there. I don't envy the task that British intelligence services have.

TheEnigma, did you hear London's mayor's speech this morning on FoxNews? The man is a great speaker! He was extremely harsh towards the "terrorists" in his speech. Telling them no matter how many they kill or how they do it, they'll always lose. There will always be people to clean up the mess.

According to http://mypetjawa.mu.nu/archives/100409.php
“Scotland Yard reports that seven explosions occurred and there was no prior warning.”

I always thought the army defined casualties as wounded or dead, but I checked and found out that's not all it includes. It covers pretty much any reason a soldier is not present for duty, including wounded, dead, captured, missing, sick, arrested, etc. That's just the US Army though. In this context, I think they're referring to wounded and dead. Anyone interested in the army's definition can find it here, https://www.hrc.army.mil/site/active/tagd/cmaoc/CMAOCPages/cmaocfaq.htm#1.

These are the people the MSM, certain Senators and other Liberal elected officials are saying Guantanamo is not cushy enough for! These
Al Qaeda terrorists are ready, willing and eager to torture and kill innocent Civilians! Yet, we have Sen. Dick Durbin, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee,
Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi, and Sen. Ted Kennedy saying Guantanamo Bay is not good enough for these butchers! The UK demanded that British citizens incarcerated at Guantanamo be released - I hope none of those released were in any way responsible for today's terror bombings. US soldiers have had to face some of those bastards in battle before and after a stint at Gitmo. These are not criminals awaiting trial, owed due process. They are enemy combatants who are lucky to be alive and cared for by US servicemen.

The US and to a lesser extent the UK are committing terrible atrocities in Iraq, using napalm, cluster bombs and depleted uranium munitions. A Lancet report calculated that some 100,000 Iraqis have died as a direct result of Coalition action.
Bottom line is that Iraq was attacked for reasons, which later proved false. Those weapons of mass destruction, where did you say they were again? So justification was suddenly switched to “removal of a brutal tyrant” and the more nebulous “bringing democracy to the region”. You simply can’t conduct foreign policy on the basis of whether or not you like a country’s leader. Doesn't anybody feel embarrassed about this?
You want to blame someone for the London bomb attacks, blame Tony Blair and his misguided foreign policy. His still-not-fully-explained alliance with George Bush for the Iraq misadventure almost guaranteed retaliation on UK homeland. So unfair that ordinary Londoners should pay the price for Blair’s miscalculations. Ken Livingstone struck the right note on this occasion.
Blair looked seriously rattled at the Gleneagles' closing ceremony. The London attack rained on his parade and clearly wrong-footed him, making him look decidedly unpresidential. Events dear boy, events.

What exactly is the power that the religion of Islam holds over these people to cause them to act in such a horrendous way?
