Ms. Sheehan has made some pretty wild charges, blaming Bush personally for her son's death and bringing in the unrelated Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Ms. Parks did nothing of that kind that I can remember. She was quiet and dignified, which made her point with the force of a sledgehammer.

All Southern governors during segregation were Democrats.

Except that Parks did not announce to the world her intentions, was arrested, could have been assaulted, and could have been killed for her civil disobedience. None of those things even remotely threaten Sheehan. In fact the target of her ire welcomes her free expression. Poor Parks... periodically getting dragged into debates by comparisons to others of much lesser import.

Cindy Sheehan's other disturbing connections:
Lynne Stewart
As found by Solomonia at FrontPageMag which reports that Cindy Sheehan spoke at an SFSU event organized by The International Socialist Organization, an organization that advocates the violent overthrow of the U.S. government. The main speaker was Lynne Stewart, "convicted of conspiracy and for passing along fatwas… from Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman to his terrorist followers in Egypt’s Islamic Group. Rahman is the blind sheikh responsible for the first World Trade Center bombing in 1993 that left six Americans dead and more than 1,000 people injured. "
"Cindy Sheehan said she considered Lynne Stewart her Atticus Finch, the lawyer who defended an innocent Black man accused of rape in the book and film 'To Kill A Mockingbird.'"
"Sheehan continued, '9/11 was Pearl Harbor for the neo-conservatives’ agenda' and declared the U.S. government a 'morally repugnant system.' Then she raged: 'We have no Constitution. We’re the only country with no checks and balances. We want our country back if we have to impeach George Bush down to the person who picks up the dog sh-t in Washington! Let George Bush send his two little party animals to die in Iraq. It’s OK for Israel to have nuclear weapons but we are waging nuclear war in Iraq, we have contaminated the entire country. It’s not OK for Syria to be in Lebanon. Hypocrites! But Israel can occupy Palestine? Stop the slaughter!'"
****
Sheehan discredits herself with her own words, but the company she keeps puts her into perspective, not as a victim being used by the left, but herself using her son's death for her own anti-America, pro-terrorist agenda.

Interesting, Mesablue. It reminds me of the movie "Flashback" starring Kiefer Sutherland and Dennis Hopper. Sutherland played a clean-cut FBI man escorting an old 60's political activist hippy on a train trip to his trial. One of the ironies in the film was that the young FBI man himself was the child of hippies, who grew up on a commune. The children of the left (those who survived the attempted abortions) may very well, in real life, also be rebelling. At least they're rebelling in the "right" direction, this time :)
