Just as the McCain/Palin desperation flop-sweat starts to really stink up the country, good news arrives in this afternoon's release of new polling results showing Barack Obama and Joe Biden are widening their lead over John "What Economic Problems?" McCain and Sarah "I can see Russia from my House!" Palin.

At the heart of the scandal was Keating's Lincoln Savings and Loan Association, which took advantage of deregulation in the 1980s to make risky investments with its depositors' money. McCain intervened on behalf of Charles Keating with federal regulators tasked with preventing banking fraud, and championed legislation to delay regulation of the savings and loan industry -- actions that allowed Keating to continue his fraud at an incredible cost to taxpayers.

Hey, Bobby, y'wanna run that by me again, how you're protecting the Sound while camped out at Grandpa Joe's Hyannisport docks, and your opposition, it has nothing to do with the ocean views from the family compound...does that sum up your play here today?
That's funnier than UncleTeddy's Op-Ed in todays WaPo.
Putz.

It's hard not to feel sympathy for Greenpeace, one of the two groups in the world the French aren't afraid to attack. If it wasn't for them and teenage Muslim girls France would have surrendered to everyone in the world by now.

By an historic accident of fate, I find myself standing with Greenpeace on an issue. Gawd it feels uncomfortable.

I've never been fond of Greenpeace, but every now and then I find them in conflict with someone I dislike even more. I think the last time was when the French government blew up their ship, killing a photographer.
That time I was rooting for the French.
