AP Photo Editors Spin On The Iraqi Vote

In an article (Sunni Turnout High at Iraqi Charter Vote) noting high Sunni turnout; little violence; and the most peaceful day in months; here's what AP photo editors saw as the story of today's historic draft constitution vote in Iraq.

Power outage, insurgent death, and prisoners - that's how AP see's it. You've got to work pretty hard to spin the story of one of the greatest days in Iraq's history - a day when all groups embraced the democratic process - that negatively. Heck, they even had to go back to a October 3, 2005 picture to get their prisoner shot. What that photo has to do with the election is not explained...

Iraqis should be giving AP Photo Editors the finger!

Update: Jeff Goldstein rounds up the headline and opening paragraphs of a variety of new sources (with a few usual suspects added for good measure) covering the Iraq vote.

OMG, they are shameless! I'm so sick of the mainstream media spinning everything Iraq-related as negative! I have given up on them reporting ANYTHING objectively--clearly, all they want is to make everything look bad so their retarded antiwar agenda is fulfilled.

What I want to know is what's up with the TV guys pointing their cameras into the booths showing how people are voting?

Fox News is running a loop of people voting where the camera goes over the top of the booth and we see people marking the (I assume) Yes box.

I'd be pretty pissed if there were media there taking video of how I'm voting and I'm not putting my life on the line for the vote.

Maybe you should ask the mother in the first picture if she agrees with that assesment.

It's hardly the mother's fault that her daughter was killed by a car bomb a week before the election, "In Vino Veritas". I find you rather cold-hearted for suggesting that.

Why didn't the November 2nd election stories in US papers focus on the about 40 people murdered that day or the over 100 people killed in highway accidents? Why did they carry pictures of people voting or of candidates politicking instead?
