Professional wrestler Eddie Guerrero joins the list of wrestling stars who have died under mysterious circumstances at relatively young ages. Guerrero was found dead in a Minneapolis hotel room Sunday morning, just hours before a sold out WWE match he was scheduled to perform at was to occur.
The Sunday evening show was being revamped as a tribute to Guerrero, and will air Monday evening. His nephew, fellow WWE wrestler Chavo Guerrero, traveled with him to Minneapolis and found him in his room Sunday morning after Guerrero missed a wakeup call. Guerrero had just celebrated his fourth anniversary of sobriety from drug and alcohol addictions that nearly ended his professional career and marriage.

The list of deceased stars from the golden era of the WWE (known at the time as the WWF) and other regional wrestling promotions is a very long list, and features some well known names. Names such as:

It truly was sad and utterly stunning to hear that Eddy died. A man who had managed to overcome so many of his demons is something to be admired. His assorted addictions were not positive --- but his response and rebuilding of his life from the depths that it had sunk to is something all people should remember and embrace.
RIP Eddy.

You're leaving off "Love Machine" Art Barr and "Madonna's Boyfriend" Louie Spicoli, who were members in Los Gringos Locos with Eddy Guerrero in Mexico.
Barr died of an apparent Soma overdose in 1994, while Spicoli died in either 1997 or 1998 of the same thing.
Others to consider:
Rick Williams, aka "Renegade" from WCW
Committed suicide.
Jerry Tuite, aka "The Wall" from WCW and "Malice" from NWA TNA
Died of a heart attack, but had a history of drug abuse
Chris Candido, aka "Bodydonna Skip" from the WWF
Died of a blood clot after breaking his leg in the ring
Alex Rizzo, aka "Big Dick Dudley" in ECW
Died of renal failure
Anthony Durante, aka "Pitbull #2" in ECW
Died of a drug overdose
There are a bunch of sad stories out there involving wrestlers.
Some die immediately from their mistakes, like Miss Elizabeth (accidental OD on pain pills).
Some die much later, presumably from living it up too long, such as Curt Hennig.
It's just a shame that a nice guy like Eddy has to go so soon, considering how he'd cleaned himself up.

I'm very sadden to hear of this great loss! Eddy Guerrero was a great talent on the verge of many title reigns..and of all things last nite Saturday Nov 12, I watched a tape I hadn't seen in years the wcw/aaa "when worlds collide" ppv that featured the tag match with Eddy, Love Machine Art Barr vs Octagon & el Santo..one of the greatest and wild matches ever! Little did I know the implications of what was to happen ..but I can recall thinking how great a wrestler Eddy was back then and how the time has come for him to be elevated again...only now he has been elevated to being trully missed and trully loved.

While Andre did ultimately die of heart failure I don't think it is fair to characterize his death due to the lifestyle many of the performers choose to lead.

It is deeply shocking to see the number of young wrestlers dying at such young ages. Eddie Guerrero was an amazing wrestler and will be missed by his fans over here in England and across the globe also. God Bless you Eddie for all the fond memories, great matches and for being who you were.

I am very saddened to hear about the news, but im pleased that he went out accomplishing so much in his career. Luckily towards the end of his life he had been used to his full potential.
Eddie was a brilliant wrestler, and had rose to be one of my favourites ever, with his brilliant character interacting ever so well with the audience, and his awesome wrestling talent, which was in my opinion one of the greatest combinations of technical and high flying ability i have ever seen.

I think we miss the point. Several men in excellent physical condition die suddenly and without warning. Someone should look into those trainers and the trend in wrestling that the biggest, strongest make the most money. In the world of wrestling, steroids and other illegal drugs must be plentiful if we are not going to beleive that people like Buff Bagwell from way back went from like 180 to 250 of pure muscle only working out. Steroids and other illegal drugs like cocaine and other "party" drugs are linked to heart problems, cardiovascular problems etc...

Actually Andre was a very heavy drinker, and there have been several tales passed by wrestlers through the years of how much Andre could eat and drink in one sitting.
I don't know if or how much drugs Andre did, but nevertheless he wasn't living a very healthy life.

I was a big fan of Eddy and when I found out he had died I just cried. I will always remember Eddy and keep his family in my prayers.

I had just got home, and I heard of the news, I am very saddened by the news I hear.
Eddie Guererro was one of the best, and my favorite pro wrestlers on the show. His accomplishments make me stand amazed, I want to say you will always have a place in my heart Eddie, you will always be missed.

I was not a big Eddy fan, nor a wrestling fan, but my husband loved to watch it on TV. I think it is sad when anyone dies and we should remember his family and especially his daughters in our prayers. May God keep them and bless them, and give them strength in their time of need.

Wrestling is entertainment..and we all realize to those who dont follow it..look down upon it..but consider even the "nobelest Brit" enjoys the physical sports like boxing, rugby and wrestling..I think the American public is too quick to put 'barriers' on these things and its stifling..I love wrestling for its entertainment value as much as movies, theatre, and regular sports..so dont limit yourself on what you can or cannot like..dare to be unique..so with all this, we honor Eddy Guerrero, because he was a high risk~high reward star! Eddie was not only a great wrestler, he was a great entertainer with a great sense of humor and the ability to make his fans feel as if they were a part of his world.
He is a great role model for his fans, he showed them that no matter what problems they have, they can over come them. We knew he loved us, it was in his "wink and a smile, style" he will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

I cannot believe Eddy passed away. I heard the news from my baby brother who is extremely sad, since Eddy was his Hero. Eddy was the best and a role model for the whole Latin community. He will always be in our hearts.

he was always willing ot go the distance and his passing is a shock and a tragdey. he will always for his charming personality and ability to go the distance to entertain the crowd.

As soon as i heard that eddie died I cried my eyes out.....and even though i never met eddie i love him and there will always be a place in my heart for him....i'm gonna miss him, especially his smile. His smile could brighten up anyones day.It's such a shame......why couldn't somrone who was old die instead of eddie.....eddie didn't deserve to die.

my dad told me he died from drugs and alchahole and couse he went to the gym alot his body couldn't take it and gave him a heart atack so that's what my dad said

Im very saddened by the news of the passing of Eddie Guerrero. Eddie was my favourite superstar and loved the way he drove into the ring with his lowrider and the way he smiles. He realy stole the show night in and out, and realy stole our hearts when he performed. I cried when i went on the WWE website and saw what happened and i still think about Eddie before i sleep.

When i heard about Eddie Guerrero's death is when i was getting ready to watch Eddies match and then found out he died. I feel to the floor crying nd when i was The Hall Of Fame i was crying so hard i used like three tissues. Now i know that heaven will be more fun now that Eddie Guererro is there. This is what one guy rote on the internet that eddie is still alive.
He's alive. I saw him at a Dunkin' Donuts in Wisconsin last week. He'll be making a run-in during the main event of Wrestlemania 23 and this will lead to a feud with the Undertaker over the rights to be called "The Dead Man of the WWE". Naturally, this will lead to a casket match at Summerslam 2007. Eddie will win and set the casket on fire, killing the Undertaker forever but of course he will rise from the dead at Royal Rumble 2008 and cost Eddie the World Championship. Then he'll challenge Eddie to a Buried Alive match at Wrestlemania 24. Taker will win the match to make him 16-0 at Wrestlemania and Eddie will be buried forever. Then he will really be dead.

everyday i ask this question.....y him? da good dies young, i lost a big part of myself, he was my motivator, inspiration my papi y i dont have a father to play the role.
now im here writing this while bursting in tears & i have a confession..... i was thinking of killing myself...its like a disease it never goes away the thought.
if i could have 1 sacred wish it would be to take me instead of him...y, i aint got nothing 2 live 4, without him.
my life was bad while eddie was around but when he left it turned into a personal inferno... all i want is a record deal so i could represent him all the time.
i dont want to use his name as a gimmick to sell records i just want the world to know how big of a fan i am . and i wish to generate money for his family because i got alot of ideas for his merchandises, i dont want the money, if you could feel the loyalty i want to this and i dont care about the money. i just want 20% so i could go to mexico and volunteer my services and with the 20% would be used for resources eg. food, schools and clothes, community development in mexico.
whoever read this...remember he was a humble guy and all i wanna do is help.

i know its been half a year since eddie died but i still miss him...i think he helped rey to win the world heavyweight championship coz he was doing it 4 eddie...my little brother is a massive fan of eddie and was very upset to know he had died.

Eddie was one of the most popular atheletes in the WWE. Its a pity all the good ones have to leave.
Drugs consumed by wrestlers should be checked, and make sure they're not over doing it. This is what happens to such gifted people.

Eddie Guerreo was my favourite wrestler.
He was the 1 and only Eddie that i could also miss.
I never knew that Eddie died til now.

Eddie im not really an emotional guy so i didn't cry for u...but it will never mean i won't miss one of my favorite wrestlers. thank you eddie and someday when i am in the wwe i will think of you always and all the other inspirational wrestlers... we will all miss u

I cried when i found out he died i was so stunned because he was 1 of my favorite's wrestlers i miss him so much
