Good luck finding one of Microsoft's new Xbox 360's. There's a strong positive buzz on Microsoft's multi-billion dollar gamble, something that should have market leader Sony worried. Microsoft has a 6 month head start on Sony in the next generation console market and it appears that the limit on how many millions of units they can sell before the Sony PlayStation3 hits the shelves is limited only by how many Xbox 360's can be produced. The systems are already in short supply and commanding a premium price on auction boards. Microsoft expects to sell 3 million Xbox 360's by the end of the year, though a Business Week estimate puts their loss on each unit at $126.
Speaking of "white hot," as with any new gaming console launch there are occasional issues. If your Xbox 360 overheats or crashes from overheating you might get to see the Atari 2600 mode, in which case you pretty much got p0wned by Bill Gates... Actually that slideshow is just one of an number of issues reported with some of the Xbox units. No one yet knows how prevalent the problems being reported online actually are...

So Microsoft plans to flood the market at up to a half-BILLION dollar loss. Funny, when the Japanese DUMP product on our market, DoJ says it's illegal. Hopefully, the game vendors will make some money. Now are these things really that scarce, or is that marketing bullshit?

Microsoft--the company that convinced people rebooting was a good thing--fields a product that crashes and people act surprised?

My wife's already threatened to put "oil" in my current XBox. Somehow I don't think I'll be getting a 360. Although, a little wine, a nice dinner, ya never know...ah, who am I kidding...
Mr. Bill was on hand in at the Best Buy in Bellevue (near his palatial estate) to pass them out to customers. Such a swell fella...

The numbers are right...my daughter works at best buy, and they got 16. Her friend works at circuit city, and they got 19. Not getting any more until March 2006.
Crazy people.

I picked up my 360 on Tuesday, and haven't had any issues whatsoever with it. No hanging/lockups, snow, or slowdowns, just unbelievably good graphics with an amazing level of detail.
After several hours of use, the case is warm to the touch, but no more so than the receiver used to process the 5.1 surround sound.
