I had Pat Morita on my list for 2006. He decided to wax off about 5 weeks too early.

Sound engineering and suspension systems are similar in that they both deal with how to control vibrations.

Jay, you should know that old engineers never die, they just do something only nerdy punsters would appreciate.

Formula One cars have used active suspensions since the mid-80s. In fact, they became so effective by the early-90s that they were banned in the interest of returning some control of the car back over to the drivers. In recent years, there has been some return to it, but not nearly to the point it was prior to the ban.

Example? I mean, LIBEL would be a problem, but simple criticism ("Hey! The Acoustic Wave SUCKS, dude!")?

Dr. Bose's suspension system has been in the electronic trade press for a couple of years now.
Don't be too sure about it being too expensive. Shocks and springs aren't cheap either, and once it gets into volume production it should be like most other industrial products, that is, essentially free. Did you ever think you'd see a Hyundai-equivalent with power windows?
Regards,
Ric
