MilBlogger Paul Berkley (aka Legibletrout) was murdered on Sunday. He was home on leave from Navy Fifth Fleet Headquarters in Bahrain, when he and his 26-year-old wife Monique were shot by two assailants at 3am in a park in Raleigh, North Carolina. Paul was 46.
Monique, who sustained a minor gunshot wound to her left shoulder, has since been arrested and charged with Paul's murder, along with two 18-year-old men, Latwon Darrell Johnson, and Andrew Canty.
Johnson was the boyfriend of Paul's daughter (from a previous marriage) Becky.
Monique was reportedly having an affair with Canty, who moved in with the family shortly after Paul left for Bahrain several months ago.
Paul, Monique, Becky, and Zeke (Paul's 18-year-old son) all have weblogs. Police are reportedly combing these weblogs, as well as those of various friends of the family, for evidence.

katie couric ran the story this morning but failed to notice that it is almost identical to the story run in us news about a similar murder earlier this year.

I'm glad my computer is deaf. Becky's tunes would probably push me toward suicide. Look at all the 'addiction' references in the girls' blogs. Pure trash with zero self-control. Poor guy caught up.

This is a horrible story.
Espescially if you wade though all of Jay's links and then find the sites of other family and friends.
The 911 call by his wife to the police is terrible(you can hear him dying), knowing that facts as they are now.
This woman, twenty years junior of her husband, taking care of his children from a previous marriage while he is away at war and involved sexually with an eighteen year old friend of her fifteen year old step daughter's boyfriend arranged the shooting.
After neighbors tried to warn him of her behavior.
The pictures on her son's band website showing her wearing matching outfits (that she can't fit into) with the step daughter and also with her eighteen year old lover are too telling.
Horrible.
Unfortunately -- movie rights are probably already being negotiated.
