Playing online role-playing games has taught me one thing I think is pertinent here:
It's the owner of the pet that is the real threat, not the pet.
Police shot at the wrong threat.

Speaking of which... didn't you just post a story about Maine destroying guns with all sorts of ceremony? Isn't this analogous? Sure, the dog is living, not inanimate, but both were weapons aimed by PEOPLE.
Everyone but the responsible party is dealth with.

I'm with Dan S. They should have shot the guy 5 times in the head. Training and/or abusing an animal to the point where you would use it as a weapon against police officers would be a justifiable self defense.

I have known the dog since she was a puppy and believe me- it is the dog, not Brian. He loves that dog more than anything. The dog bit the cops after they manhandled Brian, and they shot her despite the public screaming "Don't shoot the dog!" What the hell are the police thinking open firing on a dog in downtown crossing?!? They should have listened to Brian when he told them to back away from him or she will bite.

WHAT NO POSTS on Christine's comments? What's the matter nothing to BITCH about? You all need to get a check on reality and a LIFE of your own.
Nobody has responded to this because it's the TRUTH and none of you can deal with that. You want blood, guts and revenge. What makes you any different than Brian? There were other witnessess that claim the cops grabbed my sons arms, WHILE HE WAS HOLDING THE LEASH, he tried to stop them so that the dog would NOT bite the cops. Let's ask the witnessess. I challenge anyone out there that TRUTHFULLY SAW THIS to contact me, and I will contact the lawyers. You may remain anonymous to me. I'm SICK and TIRED of people making my son out to be an animal hater, when all is he wanted was his dog. He LOVED her and would NEVER want her hurt. The cops could have prevented this as well, who made the stupid call to draw their weapons? WHY? The dog was leashed. What happen to animal control? Why didn't they call animal control? Instead, they chose to open fire. Where are all of you that was endangered by this. Do you think this could have been handled any better? I do. DID either of those cops have to be bit? This is a TRAGEDY!! In the wake of this HORRIBLE situation, two cops are hurting and their families, the dog is good as dead, and my son is in jail. As well as others who had to experience this. For all of you, the public, and cops included as a caring human being and mother I'm both concerned and sad. Please people let's not make this worse. As a concerned American, let's try to figure out how this could have been handled so that NO ONE got hurt.
WATCH IT!! It could be you and someone in your family next. JUDGE others as you would want to be JUDGED. And, unless you were there at the time of whatever, whoever you are judging, you have no RIGHT to judge.
Yours truly,
Brian's mom
