Did Kennedy Molest Alito's Wife?

The left has their outrage hats on again, this time over this statement from Harball's Chris Matthews:

MATTHEWS: ...won't they say something up beat and (bucking up)... isn't she a great woman, didn't she stand up-and then they'll put the camera right on Ted Kennedy and show how he was the guy that molested her basically-that's the way they'll play it...

This kind of reminds me of the time they were all outraged over Matthews saying Osama bin Laden sounded like Michael Moore in a recent communication. Forgetting, of course, that Michael Moore once pointed out the rhetorical similarities himself.

But whatever. For the sake of clarity let's go to the dictionary for the definition of "molest:"

mo·lest (mə-lĕst')
tr.v., -lest·ed, -lest·ing, -lests.

  1. To disturb, interfere with, or annoy.
  2. To subject to unwanted or improper sexual activity.

It sure seemed to me like Alito's wife was disturbed and annoyed.

So what's all this outrage about again?

Free speech only applies to statements that are politically correct, bash anything conservative, or advance the moonbat agenda.

Whatever. We can't spin this any worse than it happened. Judge Alito is a man of integrity and faced lies and condemnation. Of course his wife is upset, and no, it shouldn't come with the territory. Confirm him today, however, and it will be worth it.

Seems to me that what Sen. Kennedy did was more offensive than what Rep. Rick Lazio did to Hillary Clinton during their debates.

When Rep. Lazio pulled a piece of paper from his jacket, and step across the stage towards Mrs. Clinton, didn't people call that agressive and threatening?

Bill:

Matthews is a hopeless liberal and Bush-basher but, to the fever swamp dwellers, he's not liberal ENOUGH. So the leftist ideological police are after him. This is just a symptom of the Democratic Party crackup.

Then I guess I could say that George W. Bush molested me, and is a serial molester. Cool.

Steve Crickmore:

Ray, as was Chris Matthews, is being very coy to suggest there is no difference in "please don't disturb my child" from "the very grave 'don't molest my child"...or perhaps if there is still no difference in import we could change all hotel room signs across the country to the more emphatic 'Please don't molest me'
