Can She Beat Hillary?

Kathleen Troia "KT" McFarland, a former Pentagon official, says she is planning to run against Hillary Clinton.

ALBANY, N.Y. - A former Pentagon official under President Reagan said Monday she will seek the Republican nomination to challenge Democratic Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's re-election bid this year.

"I am running to be my party's nominee for the United States Senate from the state of New York," Kathleen Troia "KT" McFarland wrote in a letter to supporters. "Toward that end, I have formed an exploratory committee, which I expect to upgrade to a full Senate campaign committee in the coming days."

The move by the political neophyte could put her into a September primary against former Yonkers Mayor John Spencer, already endorsed by top state Conservative Party leaders. No Republican has won statewide office in New York without Conservative Party support since 1974.

Clinton, asked Friday about a possible challenge from McFarland, said: "I am going to remain focused on my job and my race. I will leave it to the other side to sort out their own candidacies."

Let's see if KT can give Hillary a fight.

In any case, Bush isn't the first president to exploit the $56 billion Government Securities Investment Fund, or G-Fund, for a little fiscal sleight of hand.

That honor, a Treasury Department spokeswoman told me, goes to the president's dad, George H.W. Bush, who tapped government workers' pension money in 1989 when confronted with a fast-approaching debt ceiling of $2.8 trillion.

Give Hillary a fight? She won't even make it to the Republican primary, let alone convince Long and the NY Conservative Party to give her more than a passing glance before telling her to beat it.

Hillary is going to stomp flat whoever ends up being her sacrificial lamb/opponent. Pataki's destroyed the NY Republican Party as far as statewide elections are concerned.

The only Republican that can beat Hillary is Condoleezza Rice. Dr. Rice would naturalize the novelty of having a women for president and at the same time undermine the Black support Hillary must have to win.

Besides that Dr. Rice is a self-made woman who has gotten to where she is at by her own abilities, not by who she married. The only downside is that Rice must be drafted to run as she won't actively seek the nomination (she is so smart).

There are a number of web sites helping in the draft Rice for president movement.

Mac Lorry:

I look forward to Dr Rice explaining in a political debate how "Bin Laden Determined to Attack Within U.S." wasn't enough of an alarming signal for her and her lazy boss George Bush to do something in August '01. Seeing how the administration's poll numbers on terrorism have plummeted in the last 5 months, that should be enough to make Condi think twice about running for anything other than the local dog-catcher.

Or there's always the photos of Ms. Rice shoe-shopping in NY while New Orleans was disappearing under water to make a voter take caution.....

First, as an Albany area resident I feel capable of giving a reasoned opinion. The answer is "no frickin' way". The annoucements about other people running goes somewhere in the middle of the daily paper and every time Hillary passes gas it goes in the first 3 pages...front page if there's a smell. When she speaks to liberal groups about how Bush is evil, however, that goes on the back page. When she drags out a kid in a wheelchair to a pharmacy to attack health care, that's front page again. There is basically no Republican party in NY. There is increasingly imbecilic Joe Bruno and the Mayor of NYC, who you can call a Republican if it makes you happy. Someone with no elected office experience against the Clinton Campaign Machine of Death? No way.

Second, what the hell does Hill's Senate race have to do with Condi? Last time I checked Condi wasn't running for our junior senator seat opposite Chucky "Identity Theft" Schumer.

Finally, for the party of MoveOn...can you please, please, make some sort of effort to Move On from thinking the Secretary of State should somehow be involved with disaster relief in the United States. Read a civics book. Then, explain how we are to take "they want to do something!" warnings and turn them into actual beneficial intelligence without actually looking at and spying on the people we're being warned "want to do something". Feel free to explain to me how that works. Really. Explain how that works.

Dr. Rice doesn't need to explain anything about this. If you remember, she was just an adviser to Bush at the time. Also, all the warnings about Bin Laden were missed by Bill Clinton. Hillary was a part of that failure given Bill's brag that if elected we would get both him and Hillary.

Or there's always the photos of Ms. Rice shoe-shopping in NY while New Orleans was disappearing under water to make a voter take caution.....

As Secretary of State Dr. Rice's duties don't include any responsibility for what happened to New Orleans. Such leaps of logic show just how much the left fears the candidacy of Dr. Rice. That fear should motivate Republicans to make her candidacy a reality.
