Hamas Calls Attack on Israel Legitimate

Hamas called today's homicide attack in Tel Aviv a legitimate response to Israel's "aggression."

TEL AVIV, Israel (CNN) -- A suicide bombing that killed nine people at an Israeli restaurant Monday provoked conflicting responses from Palestinian leaders, underscoring the recent power shift within the Palestinian Authority.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas -- whose Fatah Party was ousted in January parliamentary elections -- condemned the Tel Aviv terrorist attack. But Hamas -- the group that came to power -- called the bombing justified.

Israeli Apache helicopters fired missiles into Gaza late Monday but the Israel Defense Forces denied it was retaliation.

The blast marked the first time a suicide bomber has successfully set off a bomb in Israel since the Hamas-led government assumed power over the Palestinian Authority on March 30. (Watch emergency responders work to save victims after the attack -- 1:35)

The bombing occurred during a busy period of Passover and about two hours before Israel's parliament, the Knesset, convened for its new term.

Israel now must deal with an entirely different situation with Hamas running the Palestinian government. From the Jerusalem Post:

Monday's terrorist attack in Tel Aviv was the most "successful" suicide bombing since Hamas formally took control of the Palestinian Authority and it - at least from Israel's point of view - creates a new situation.

"We now face a Hamas government that not only does not stop terrorism, but condones it, encourages it and gives comfort to its perpetrators," a senior official in the Prime Minister's Office said, explaining why this attack was different from previous ones.

Gateway Pundit reports that former Democratic Senator James George Abourezk blames zionists.

Is it time to invoke the Bush Doctrine yet? Huh? Huh? Huh? Can we huh??? Or the mutual defense treaty we have with Israel?

Israel should cut off all electric and water service to Gaza. Not allow any Arab to cross in to Israel for any reason including emergency medical treatment. Target any Hamas, Fatah whatever the various groups call themselves. The cops don't distinguish between the Mob families because in the end, they are all in the same organization. And don't be to fussy about collateral damage.
No amount of restraint will help them. If your going to do the time, might as well do the crime.

Robin Goodfellow:

This is just one example of the farce that has been created by the cult of sovereignty. Since WW2 and especially since the breakup of the European empires, the world has fetishized the nation-state. And when you have groups like hamas or al qaeda (or Ba'athist Iraq or theocratic Iran) come along who refuse to play by the established "rules", the thing turns utterly ridiculous. By all rights Israel should declare war on the Palestinian Authority. The PA government is headed by a party which has declared war (and WAGED war) against Israel, and has just now supported the actions of fighters attacking Israel originating from its own territory. That is a declaration of war by any sane definition. Yet, because it's not regular armed forces and because it's not a 100% overt attack, hamas gets a pass as the diplomats and bureaucrats check the fine print in the rulebook.

And it is no different than when Terrafat was running the place, i do not see how isreal can stand to let these scumbags exist right beside them, they should build another wall on the inside of the other one and like you say no palestinians at all , their on their own.

So where are the UN resolutions condemning the hostile aggression? Do we need to wait for a coalition to be formed? What do France, Russia and China have to say about this?, Well, Russia and China, who are experts at putting down dissent. Imagine the French reaction to a suicide bombing at the Louvre or the Cotes D'Azur?

Eventually Israel will be forced into turning the strip into cinders and craters, face further aggression and war with surrounding Arab states who will be "outraged" at the result of the hate and death they have promulgated. Maybe it would be better to just nuke the entire region now and get the horror over with.
