DUBAI (Reuters) - The leader of al Qaeda in Iraq, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, said mujahideen were fighting on despite a three-year "crusader" war, according to a rare video of him posted on the Internet on Tuesday.

A statement from the al-Qaeda affiliated Mujahideen Council, accompanying the tape said it was the first "video of the leader of al Qaeda in Iraq".

"Your mujahideen sons were able to confront the most ferocious of crusader campaigns on a Muslim state. They have stood in the face of this onslaught for three years," Zarqawi said on the video.

"When the crusader enemy entered Iraq, he intended to control the Islamic nation and supported the Zionist state," said Zarqawi, who was clad in black and a green vest with an assault rifle by his side.

Zarqawi, who has earlier issued his messages via audio recordings, was also shown training with a group of masked men outdoors.

More from Fox News:

BAGHDAD, Iraq -- An Islamic Web site has posted a rare video showing Al Qaeda in Iraq leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.

According to SITE Institute, which tracks terror groups, the video was released Tuesday by The Mujahideen Shura Council in Iraq.

The video, entitled "A Message to the People," shows Zarqawi speaking and instructing mujahideen, SITE said in a press release about the video.

Update: Counterterrorism Blog has more.

Yes, we can fight terrorism more effectively by putting in Dems. The only problem is that we have a different definition of terrorism and terrorist than do the Dems. To us, the terrorists are al Qaeda and the Islamofascists. To the Dems, the terrorists are Bush and his Administration.

It's Bush who they are after, not UBL or Zarqawi.
The Dems would fight their war on terrorism by attempting to impeach Bush, gutting the efforts of our intelligence servies, withdrawing and surrendering in Iraq and Afghansitan, and basically giving Al Qaeda a major victory.

Can you name all the terrorist attacks on US soil since 9/11? If you go on Islamic Websites, you'll be surprised to hear all the pro-jihadist sentiments, and then be even more surprised to learn that many of those making the comments actually live inside the US.

The fact we have not had another attack, with every jihadist in the world trying, is not simply luck.

They haven't had to attack us on our soil to terrorize this country into giving up constitutional rights, terrorize this country into spending billions in a futile effort to liberate people who never asked to be liberated, and terrorize this country into destroying the good will we've built over the last several decades with our allies abroad.

We're the laughing stock of the world, and now we're going broke in the process. Bush turned out to be a "spendaholic" on top of his other numerous failings.

Yes Curly, you've allowed yourself to be terrorized into believing the bad guys will get ya unless you go along with the post 911 plan.

I haven't been terrorized, and I ain't buying into the idea that thousands of US soldiers had to die in order to protect us from a small band of towel-headed thugs.

Personally, I haven't had to give up any rights, except maybe my right to publish cartoons of the pedophile prophet. (Funny how you can display unflattering cartoons of the fascist President but not of Muhammad). For people without any rights, the left certainly make a lot of noise. I'm still waiting for the secret police to take them all away, yet it never happens.

terrorize this country into spending billions in a futile effort to liberate people who never asked to be liberated,

You are to a certain extent right. The ones in Saddam's mass graves never asked to be liberated. However, I think many of the Kurds and Shiite certainly wanted Saddam gone.

Heralder:

I think all the dead and imprisoned "Insurgents" "Terrorists" "Unlawful Combatants" or whatever they're called this hour, might disagree with the idea that Bush is asleep at the wheel.

But we all know how these people respond to surrender, withdrawal, or isolationism. It comes in different varieties and potencies and in many circles is referred to as a "bomb".

But we're pretty sure with a Democrat leading the country he could talk to these fanatics, withdraw troops and portray our country as weak. That ought to work real nicely seeing that terrorists like to attack the softest targets.

If you've read the news, Lee, you might have noticed yet again that Arabs, extremist and otherwise, are up in arms about bombings carried out by other extremist elements on their own soil. It seems the terrorists are outsmarting themselves.

The absence of an attack on our country since 9/11 cannot be attributed, by any stretch of the imagination, to luck. I'd rather have the CIA attributing their resources to counterterrorism than to staring up at a big wall ensconcing our borders.
People and goods need to enter and leave the country, and if terrorists want to attack us enough they will find a way in. The best way to circumvent this problem is not to pull our heads inside our shell, it is to give them ample taste of their own blood.

And I have to fully support Proud Kaffir on his post, I have not had to give up any rights either. Where are all these "rightless" people I keep hearing about...you know, the ones that live in a police state called America? The America I live in still gives me the same rights it gave me before the war.

This caught my eye:

"...in order to protect us from a small band of towel-headed thugs."

"We can outsmart the terrorists -- or at least, we could with smarter people in the White House"

Why would we waste the energy to outsmart a small band of towel-headed thugs? And while you're answering that question (or trying to find a way attribute a conspiracy theory to it so as to avoid answering it) perhaps you can also tell me how we're supposed to outsmart them? I'm sure the U.S. Armed Forces would love for you to tell them, they've been waiting on you since 2003.

Who's laughing? Does the guy with the automatic rifle at the top of this page seem to be laughing? How about Osama. Not laughing either. They haven't left hiding long enough to take a big enough breath to do so. Is the UK laughing? No, they're fighting side by side with us in Iraq. France and Germany? No, they seem to be too concerned with their dwindling middle east trade profits and shattered economies to be laughing at anything. Is Israel laughing? No need to answer. How about Russia? No they seem to be too worried over what's happening to their potential trade with Iran to be having a good time. Spain, maybe? Nope, after they caved into Al-Queda and left Iraq I've seen nary a smile. Anyone else I failed to mention wouldn't consitute "the world" so I think the point has been made.
