THE ROVE WATCH (AND COUNTDOWN)

The Washington Prowler at The American Spectator blog says that "sometimes a plane is just a plane."

ABC News' "The Note" wonders what Karl Rove was doing in the airport in Chicago last week. The question no doubt sent three-quarters of the Daily Kos-sacks into a tizzy. After all, Joe Wilson scandal prosecutor Pat Fitzgerald is based there.

It is true that sometimes you're at the airport for a secret meeting to determine who the Supreme Court nominee will be later this summer to replace Justice Ginsburg.

Sometimes you're at the airport to plot how best to rig ballot machines to give your party landslide victories in an election year when your party is supposed to lose both the House and the Senate.

But sometimes you're at the airport just because your connecting flight happens to be there ... at an airport. Where planes take off and land. We know it's a difficult concept.

Don't bother trying to interpret airport clues. If and when there are any developments on the Rove-Plame front, you can find them here, with pictures to boot.

On a related note, Ian Schwartz has video of David Shuster on Hardball counting down the days since Rove last testified before the Grand Jury. For the record, it is 26 days. I wonder how long before MSNBC puts one of those nifty little counter graphics up to remind us.

Granted, considering how hamfisted the schoolbus boarding was and the stories they told to explain it away... shouldn't they have snuck onto the short bus instead? They may not have been noticed in that case.

Keith Olberman has an unhealthy obsession with Bill O'reilly. If I owned MSNBC, I would pull down Olberman's show because it is an embarrassment.

There is no evidence whatever that Karl Rove broke any law. Nobody has even been charged with what I thought we were investigating here for two years and that is the disclosure of the identity of a covert operative. Since she was not covert, and her husband was actually discussing her work at the CIA, how was this a violation of the law?

Fitz should wrap up his thorough investigation, and begin his uphill case against Scooter.

Ariya, since I'm new to this blog, I'm not sure what you're referring to about Saudis on a schoolbus.

But what is slightly embarrassing was for School Bus Nagin to have been reelected. But considering the choices available for the people of NOLA, either School Bus, or the weasel Landruei, even Howard Dean was confused.

Well Bush was in Chicago today, so Rove's trip here may very well have been related to that.

I didn't realize he was coming but last night I saw an unusual formation of fighter jets headed towards O'Hare while on my way home, and wondered if it was Air Force One. Lo and behold, it was. From what I can tell he came by to talk about freedom. ;)

Although Fitz as US Attorney is based in Chicago, his main duties with respect this case as special counsel are being handled in Washington.

Larry, Larry, Larry...Do you not see that the fact that there is no evidence only warrants further investigation? Don't you realize that the only way the investigation can proceed is if KKKarl Rove is indicted as a means of making him talk about who outed Valarie Wilson?

Remember - Robert Novak works out of a newspaper in Chicago. That's where Fitzgerald's home office is. And if KKKarl Rove was seen there yesterday, well all you need to do is connect the dots.

Dots....mmmmmm, gooey little candies...they feel real good and warm when they've been in your pocket all day.....uh, what was I saying?

Oh yeah - ROVE WAS INDICTED (FILL IN THE BLANK) DAYS AGO! We just don't know it yet!

JD, everybody already knows who "outed" Valorie Flame, and that would be Armitage. But who cares? It wasn't a crime. She was a desk jockey not a covert agent, whose husband was going around Washington bragging that his wife worked at the CIA. She even appeared in photos for Vanity Fair (try that if you were an undercover agent).

I used to respect Fitz for his work going after terrorists. But what he has done here with this non-stop investigation over nothing is bordering on a political prosecution. Enough already. Either clear Rove or indict him, but to drag this thing out in a feable attempt to harm Republicans in the midterm elections is despicable.

The Wonkette stand-ins murdered The Note on that - apparently, a hi-tech 'News Google' on [Rove Chicago] coughs up a Chi Tribune story that he was in Chi town for a fundraiser:

Karl Rove, chief architect of President Bush's presidential campaigns, attended a Republican fundraiser Friday night in Lake County to help rally support for 8th District congressional candidate David McSweeney and other Republicans on the November ballot.

That was beyond the ken of the Note, evidently.
