You'll forgive me if the Haditha "massacre" story it is starting to sound a little like the CBS Bush memo story to me.
Haditha defense questions key videotapeLOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Attorneys for the U.S. Marines accused of killing unarmed Iraqi civilians in Haditha will question the authenticity of a videotape at the heart of the case and the credibility of the group that provided it, sources close to the Marines say.
The videotape, given to Time Magazine in January by the Hammurabi Human Rights Group, purports to show the aftermath of a massacre in Haditha and has prompted a U.S. military probe into the November 19 incident. ...
The defense sources agree the tape depicts grim war images but does not prove that a massacre took place in Haditha, especially when so much is still unknown about the source of the tape and how it was made. ...
Time initially reported that the tape was shot by a "journalism student" the day after the incident and described Hammurabi as working with "the internationally respected Human Rights Watch."
The magazine subsequently issued a correction on its Web site, writing that Human Rights Watch "has no ties or association with Hammurabi."
Defense lawyers say the man described by Time as a journalism student, 43-year-old Thaer Thabit al-Hadithi, was in fact the founder of Hammurabi and one of only two employees. ...
"And it turns out these two employees have family members spending time in local prisons for insurgent activity," the attorney said.
We don't yet know everything that happened in Haditha but it is becoming more and more apparent everyday that the first story we heard has some very critical flaws in it. To put it mildly.

Also like the 2000 elections, the longer it drags on, the more chances for (outside) fabrication of facts..

but, but, but, but it must be so, because Murtha said it was and he wouldn't defame the Marines just because he has BSD and wants to lead the House, know would he?
Next thing you will be telling me is that Byrd use to be a KKK leader and Kennedy murdered a young lady while stone drunk.

Ok, here is the way it works:
INVESTIGATE the incident.
Determine what happened.
Act upon the determinations, and NOTHING ELSE.

Murtha is being called to testify in the trial of one of the Marines who allegedly committed these heinous acts. Would love to see that cross examination.

Ok, here is the way it works:
Senile, worthless Dimocrat Congressfolk should STFU until and unless the investigation is complete!
Murtha (this time)
Durbin (comparing our soldiers to Nazis)
Kerry (accusing our troops of "terrorizing" the Iraqis)
etc...etc...etc...
Dimocrats just can't WAIT to leap to the conclusion that WE are the bad guys!!

Innocent until proven guilty.
Bush and Rumsfeld are in part responsible for giving this story legs. Their first comments on this were far removed from the above tenent. As Commander & Chief and Secretary of Defense it should have been the first words out of their mouths if not "no comment on an ongoing investigation". Instead they gave implications the story had meat to it.

Does anyone see the similarity between the Duke rape case and this one. Too many opinions, not enough facts. Who cares how many lives we ruin, as long as we score points?

Reuters has yanked the story. Why is it that Freedom of the Press means their right to print, but never our right to read???

Not quite accurate. The lefties have already decided that we are bad guys. They just try to twist and distort everything that happens so it seems (to those who are intellectually and informationally impared) to support their false conclusion.
Facts, truth, and overwhelming evidence cannot stand in the way of the democrats propaganda campaign to loose this war.
