Bush's Winning Message

Larry Kudlow says in his most recent National Review article that President Bush is filling the political vacuum with a winning message that could lead the Republicans to victory in November.

Believe it or not President George W. Bush might be the one to nationalize the election, and in doing so pull Republican chestnuts out of the fire.

In the Rose Garden this week, Bush predicted Republican victories in November, saying the GOP "philosophy is one that is forward looking and optimistic." He's right. The Democrats are still the party of pessimism. Vice President Cheney recently said that Republicans will prevail in the midterms because of the strong economy and the ability of the Bush administration to prevent another terrorist attack. Now that's a winning message.

And it's filling a vacuum.

Killing Zarqawi triggered a chorus of Democratic negativism. A strong new government in Iraq elicited catcalls from Democrat John Murtha. Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid showed up at a left-wing bloggers conference in Las Vegas, only to talk troop withdrawal and spit venom at Bush. Not a message to be seen.

The U.S. military takes over 400 al-Qaeda hideaways and for all we know U.S. Special Forces are in hot pursuit of Osama bin Laden. Yet not a single Democrat can admit there is good news on the war front.

I sense a pattern here -- and it is bad news for the party on the left. Democrats want to raise your taxes; Republicans want to reduce them. Democrats want to increase spending; Republicans want a reduction. Democrats want to cut and run from Iraq; Republicans want to finish the mission.

Its not necessarily bad to try to cheer up the patient and speak optimistically, but I don't see this victory as a corner turned, but one step in a long and arduous treatment. Any statement that things are getting better needs to be tempered with the stark long view, lest we think we can slack off now.

The left's encouragement is the cause of many of the international problems we are having now, not the solution. If the American left wing, and most importantly the subset of the left wing known as the MSM, would rally behind the President in this global war on terrorism it would discourage the rogue nations and terrorists and actually help the United States and its interests.

Regardless of past mistakes that may have been made by previous admins, the current situation is squarely a failure in the present Republican foreign policy.

Bush played rough, tough cowboy with North Korea as few years ago and North Korea called his bluff. Seeing that, Iran did the same when Bush rattled his sabre a few months ago, and they stood their ground when Bush started polishing his six guns.

Seeing Bush fold under pressure from the EU on the Iranian issue, North Korea is now upping the ante. Back and forth it goes, and this foreign policy debacle is weakening our position in the world.

Under the current Republican rule in Washington, we are less secure than ever before. Our enemies are laughing in our faces, and watching as our military gets stuck deeper and deeper in Iraqi sand. Instead of securing our country and defending our country from attacks by terrorists Bush launched an offensive against Iraq, wholly underestimating the amount of time and resources it would take to complete the mission. All the while our enemies see our armies, and resolve to fight, weakening.

We are more vunerable than ever before, and we KNOW a terrorist attack against this country is imminent, and that we are powerless to stop it. If you continue to support the current adminstration you are in effect writing a death sentence for thousands of American people.

This isn't about blame, it's about protecting our country and our citizens.

The convincing threat of force is in most situations very good deterent. The concept of M.A.D. from the Cold War falls into this catagory. The problem we currently have is that Bush is facing such contrived political pressure from the pacifist on the left that the U.S. has a nearly impossible time presenting a convincing threat of force.

... and THAT, is what has emboldened North Korea and Iran.

N Korea is escalating matters after seing the US back down from our get tough stance with Iran.

We (the US) were smacked down in Iran by the EU and Russia, and Bush had to back down, and is now trying to BUY his way through the Iranian crisis instead.

You never negotiate with terrorists, but you do negotiate with despots who have the potential to become terrorists. Republicans see anyone who isn't Christian or Jewish as a terrorist. Morons. We are so lucky that the free world powers stood up to Bush and put him in his place re: Iran.

You guys have apparently spent to much time watching Fox News to realize what's really happening out there. Sad, very sad. An uninformed public is a grave danger to our country, but that's exactly what the Republicans are trying for with the concerted "biased MSM" campaign. They hope to make the populace ignorant and unable to make choices on their own. Judging from the neo-con crap around here, it's working.

Ok, so which is it Lee? Bush the unilateral cowboy for going tough on Iran or Bush the weakling for knuckling under to the EU on Iran and thereby emboldening North Korea? On one hand you criticize the man for backing down on Iran and on the other you say we are lucky the "free world powers" (does that include China and Russia?) stood up to Bush and put him in his place. You can't have it both ways, although most liberals do their best to try. For you and your ilk, it is not about what is best for America, but all about putting Bush in his place. BDS alive and well.

It was ok for Clinton to lob cruise missiles around to deflect attention from his impending impeachment (without EU or UN or French approval) but Bush is a unilateral cowboy even though he went to the UN and Congress and got a resolution authorizing force. But Bill's actions are fine with you because he is your guy and Bush's actions are not ok because he is an evil Republicanhalliburtoncheneyrovian cowboy...

By the way, how did Bush back down on Iran? He still says there will be no talks until the "despots who have the potential to become terrorists" halt the enrichment of uranium. He and Rove both realize there is nothing he can do to satisfy you and yours so he just gives you the finger and does what he knows is best for the country, regardless of how much it hurts him in the polls. That's called leadership, son.

Bush tried the former, but had to settle for the latter.

As for Bush not backing down on Iran... you're dreaming. Sure, he still posturing, but the world knows he know longer has the sway to make war on Iran (and Iran and N Korea are acting on that knowledge). The world will not sit still for his insanity any longer.

Of course this statement is demonstrably false, but were it not for words and actions of the terrorist loving lefties in this country (like Murtha, Kerry, Durban, Dean, Reed, Pelosi, et. al.) even a totally uninformed idiot would know how false it is.

The lefties like Lee cause the problem and then blame it on Bush, and their propaganda wing (the "MSM") tries so very hard to keep that truth from Average Joe.

And yet the left still looses time after time. I wonder what Lee will say after his side takes another beating at the only polls that count this November? I bet he/she wishes he/she was an American so he/she could vote against the Republican's too!

So demonstrate, P Bunyan. I'm talking about today - not 39 months ago when we invaded Iran. Bush had to back down from his stance on Iran a few weeks ago because the world has turned against his cowboy BS, so that's my demonstration that supports my statement.

Publican:

The shallow arguments made by Lee and his Bush hater cohorts never cease to amaze me. Fortunately, enough of the American public is too smart to be fooled by them, despite the efforts of the DNC and NEA.

How many of our troops have died because our enemies see the divisive actions by the moonbat wing of the Democratic party and the "if it bleeds, it leads" journalism of the American media. It only encourages them to fight on. I can hear Zark saying, "Don't give up Abdul, the polls are turning to our favor!" The only war the enemy is winning is the propaganda war, thanks to weak kneed politicians who only think about their own political futures and recapturing Congress and the White, regardless of the cost. It makes me sick.

Our enemies fear America most when we are united because they know the massive power this country can project if it needs to, even though Lee and his ilk wring their hands in despair. The image of Tom Daschle hugging George Bush after his speech before the joint session of Congress after 9/11 had a lot of our enemies pissing in their pants. It's too bad the Democrats can't remember that and understand that their vocal opposition via opportunistic sound bites is undermining the troops, even though "they support the troops".
