The Real Ugly American has an interesting interview with one of my favorite reporter/pundits, Mort Kondracke.
Mort: and 9/11; I am appalled at how lots of liberals act as though 9/11 never happened. And 9/11 was probably the scariest moment of my life. Even the Cuban Missile Crisis I never mistakenly I never thought we were in any danger of actually having a nuclear war; actually we were in danger but I didn't know it or I didn't think it. But the weeks after 9/11 when you didn't know when you were going to get hit by another terrorist attack, possibly even worse than 9/11 was as scary a moment as I have ever experienced. No wonder he is one of my favorites. Read the whole thing.

"9/11 was probably the scariest moment of my life."
What a wuss.
How ironic that there is a post today (about liberals, of course) entitled "National Cowardice Day."

Being scared and being a coward are two different things, but that's something most bullies don't understand.

Thank you for the link Lorie. The comments about Mr. Kondracke's courage are just out of line. He lives next to Washington DC. Works there every day. The plane that crashed into the Pentagon was not far from the Roll Call offices.
Obviously I liked him quite a bit before the interview. Even more so afterwards. He gave honest forthright answers (including being scared on 9/11) which is a rare thing in journalism.

Exactly. Being scared does not make one a wuss. The fire fighters and others who ran back into the WTC on 9/11 were I'm sure scared. But they were anything but wusses.
I don't know if Kondracke is a wuss or not - we don't know enough about how he functions when scared. But being scared by what happened on 9/11 is a sign of intelligence, not wussiness.

I disagree with Kondracke all the time, but I do respect him, because I know he is always very open and honest with his opinions. He doesn't allow ideology to overrule reality.
Of course, some people had no fears of further terrorist attacks on or immediately after 9/11 - the ones who were and are on the side of the terrorists.

I agree, the republicans do tend to scare easily. I suspect that's why OBL waited until there was a republican adminstration in the White House before launching the attacks on 9/11. He knew they would be easily terrified into responding inappropriately.
We're approaching the fifth anniversary of this despicable act and bin Laden is still free. Today we are spending what-- something like $300 MILLION USD A DAY, and still can't shut down the terrorists -- instead we have GOP leadership running around like cartoon characters STILL looking for WMDs in Iraq (rather than focusing on OBL) simply because WMDs in Iraq would save their political backsides from defeat. It's disgusting.

Well, Lee, I suppose Bush could've gone the Dem route and ignored the problem, making it worse.
Dems gave us a theocracy in Iran and Dems emboldened OBL --- which, mind you, the lot of you continue to do to this day.
