Another Matthews Rant

I don't watch Chris Matthews anymore, but sometimes catch bits of his rants when channel surfing or on blogs like Newsbusters where I read about Matthews' latest rant on Don Imus. Here is a bit of it. There is much more at Newsbusters.

It's all ideology with this crowd. All they care about is ideology. The President bought it hook, line and sinker. It was just put into his head sometime after 9/11. And his philosophy is what was given to him. He didn't have any philosophy when he went in and they handed it to him. The guys you used to make fun of at school, pencil-necks, intellectuals, the guys you never trusted. All of a sudden, he trusts the intellectuals, the guys he knew at school. You know, they're a bunch of pencil-necks and now he buys completely their ideology because he didn't have one of his own coming in. That was his problem. I don't know what Bush stood for except 'I'm a cool guy and Gore isn't.' And that was our problem. We elected a guy because he was a little cooler than the other guy and I hope the next election isn't a problem of who goes to bed with their wife at 9:30 at night or who knows how to tell a joke on a stage, but it's who has the sense of strength that comes from having read books most of their life, tried to understand history.
I stopped watching Matthews back when he started ignoring anything his guests said about positive news from Iraq or about connections between Saddam and terrorism. I guess I should start watching again, though, because I caught a few minutes of Hardball while channel surfing Monday and the following exchange was really funny. Matthews thought he was getting Pat Buchanan to say that if you vote for Republicans in the fall you are voting for that horrible failed war in Iraq. He jumped on it and got Buchanan to elaborate. I don't think he got quite the answer he expected.
BUCHANAN: Look, politically, the Republican party will stay with the president of the United States through this November. And then they'll see what happens. If they win the elections this November, it will be a different story, but they can't, you don't want to get caught moving ...

MATTHEWS: You just alerted the voters out there that if you vote for Republicans this Fall, you're basically voting for the war, is that what you're saying?

BUCHANAN: You're backing the president's policy of do not cut and run.

MATTHEWS: And if you vote Democrat, what signal are you sending?

BUCHANAN: You're cut and run or set a timetable and get out.

Matthews then went to commercial.

Update: Hugh Hewitt comments on Matthews' Imus rant.

Update 2: Laura Lee Donoho has more on Matthews rant against VP Cheney.

I cannot, will not watch that noodle. His mouth runs like a gerbil on meth, never allowing a guest who might say something intelligent to get a complete sentence or idea out. His twittering little self-satisfied giggles, at what he seems to think are cutely expressed strokes of genius, are remarkably like a 15 year old brainless girl talking about her social life. He is incapable of knowing how pathetic he is at his job.

"a bunch of pencil-necks"

I wonder if he would be willing to name some of them for us. Most of them could(and probably would) be willing to punch his lights out for him.

As far as having convictions go, it seems that it was Al Gore who needed to re-invent himself almost daily. Some convictions there!

Matthews should just hang it up. I mean when Pat Buchanan--of all the idiots in the world--seems the more reasonable you know you've gone off the deep end.

The fact they hate Bush so much that someone like Matthews cannot see that leaving Iraq now would be the signal for terrorists around the world to just start blowing up American assets and interests is just mind boggling.

When you are in a fight to the death you don't turn your back on the opponent. The results of leaving Iraq before iraq can stand on its own will make 9/11 seem like a minor road accident compared to what this country would face.

I'm sorry to the anti-war crowd, but the fact is regardless if you supported going into Iraq or not, leaving now would be a disaster. You are pretty much signaling the end of this country. The enemy has said as much. It may take a few years.

If you really, honestly think America's war with terrorists didn't start until Bush was elected then you are so far removed from reality you aren't worth discussing the issue with.

Chrissie was never the brightest bulb in the pack. He's riding someone's coat tails, who? His father, big money? At least he's out of the closet of stupidity. I think he's only on TV as a comedy to reduce the tension for serious news.

Eric:

Pat Buchanan is MSNBC's pet Republican. The only problem is that Pat is not a Republican anymore. He left the party years ago. Does anyone remember the Butterfly Ballot controversy? Who was the candidate that people thought they mistakenly voted for? It was Pat Buchanan of the Reform party. He's now a member of the America First Party.

I have long noticed that Pat Buchanan also has a long standing beef with the Bush family. He has long been a critic of the Bush family. Remember, 1992 he ran against elder Bush for the Republican nomination.

Sorry HNB, but Buchanan is an idiot. In some ways I fear him in power as much as a moonbat. The only amazing thing about Matthews he managed to somehow surpass the idiocy of Buchanan to the point where he made Pat seem reasonable--not an easy task. Like I said, if your position makes Pat appear to be the intelligent one you are too far gone and just need to curl up into a fetal position and whimper at your uselessness.

You should have stopped watching Matthews during his "War on Gore" during the 2000 Election.

Too busy talking about earth tones and lying about how Gore said he invented the internet to notice who the real liar was.
6 years later we've wasted billions of dollars and over 2500 soldiers.

If you look closely you can see blood on the hands of Matthews and his MSM cohorts who'd "like to have a beer" with georgie.

I find that funny considering that Bush is a voracious reader. And he understands history a lot better than Matthews. That's why he's doing the OPPOSITE of the past FAILED policies towards terrorism (and that includes former Republican Presidents).

Matthews is just a sorry idiot.

As scrapiron indicated, Mathews forte is not intellectual analysis. It is bloviating.
