Zawahiri made his announcement of jihad against Israel in his latest video:
CAIRO, Egypt - Al-Qaida's No. 2 leader issued a worldwide call Thursday for Muslims to rise up in a holy war against Israel and join the fighting in Lebanon and Gaza until Islam reigns from "Spain to Iraq."
In the message broadcast by Al-Jazeera television, Ayman al-Zawahri, second in command to
Osama bin Laden, said that al-Qaida now views "all the world as a battlefield open in front of us."The Egyptian-born physician said that the fighting between Israel and Hezbollah and Palestinian militants would not be ended with "cease-fires or agreements."
"It is a jihad (holy war) for the sake of God and will last until (our) religion prevails ... from Spain to Iraq," al-Zawahri said. "We will attack everywhere." Spain was controlled by Arab Muslims for more than seven centuries until they were driven from power in 1492.
He said Arab regimes were accomplices to Israel. "My fellow Muslims, it is obvious that Arab and Islamic governments are not only impotent but also complicit ... and you are alone on the battlefield. Rely on God and fight your enemies ... make yourselves martyrs."
Jihad shmihad. It's destroy Israel and America all the time. Zawahiri is such a bore.

I just saw part of the video on CNN. A few things to note is the quality improvement of the video. It seems a lot more polished than past videos and it seems he is reading from a prompter. Experts are reviewing it and many think it is a call for attacks or to prepare for some. The images behind him are a change from the usually plain background. It was also noted that his weapon was not beside him like past videos. The man in the left background is the a commander who actually planned 9/11 and was killed in Afghanistan. The man in the right background is unknown. It is being studied on whether he is another jihadist that they consider a martyr or a possible future "martyr."

Well, to be picky--and if I'm not mistaken--the Crusades lasted from the 11th through 13th centuries.
Rely on God and fight your enemies ... make yourselves martyrs.
Translation: "God knows the Americans and Jews will kill you when you confront them, so just consider it dying for Allah. And, frankly, physically leading you into battle just ain't my cup 'o tea."

So what studio was used in the production? Iran?
That would be an interesting point to connect. If he's is now a mouthpiece or hired gun for Iran one could read his statement as a threat that the West will see more terrorist attacks. Maybe more action in Iraq?

Why don't any of these guys ever martyr themselves? Instead they just feed young men all the BS. The young guys blow themselves up to get virgins in paradise (which might be a bowl of fruit, a less lecherous interpretation of the bounty of heaven) and the old guys get all the 14 year old virgins on earth.
