Honoring A Slavemaster In Harlem

Val Prieto, guest blogging for Michelle Malkin, writes about a celebration in Harlem in honor of Cuban slavemaster, Fidel Castro.

Make no bones about it: Cuba is an island of slaves. What else does one call a place where the people eat what one man feeds them; work at what one man decides that they work on; march when one man tells them to march; say what one man tells them to say and think only what one man tells them to think. What else do you call a place where the people are kept from progressing as individuals, where the people are kept away from information, where people are isolated from the rest of the world?

Cuba is just one big island plantation.

And now, in a country that sacrificed hundreds of thousands of its sons over a century ago in a war to eliminate slavery, we have people taking to the streets in celebration of the life of a slaveowner.

This only goes to prove just how far the left will go to advance its anti-American agenda: they will ignore human rights violations, they will ignore affronts on basic civil rights, they will ignore their own history and they will ignore right from wrong.

And they will take to the streets today and show us all their ignorance.

Readers familiar with recent statements by Charlie Rangel are probably not surprised. Be sure to read Prieto's entire post, including the quote from the news story that includes a reference to the impeachment of President Bush. (That seems to be quite a popular theme lately among the Castro-loving Bush-hating types.)

I recently read "Fidel" by Humberto Fontova. One thing he points out is in Cuba today they have food rationing and in fact its worse than in the 1800's as to the amount of food they are permitted to eat. He has a side by side of the food rationing cards from the 1800's compared to under Castro...excellent book

Rent/Buy "The Lost City" on DVD, its out now. Great film

the other thing he points out is how Batista was Black and Fidel and his regime is lilly white. and all the black cuban political prisoners, can't think of the names but there is one Dr. that is black and a prisoner that has served much longer than Nelson Mandela ever did, yet Al Sharpton and jesse jackson worship a true slave master and racist....fools

Sigh. An unfortunate number of my fellow Canadians have no problem flying down to Cuba for their vacations. Personally I regard that as taking part in slavery. I will not be going until the the island is free.

Here's a UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) report on Cuba circa 1957: "One feature of the Cuban social structure is a large middle class," it starts. "Cuban workers are more unionized (proportional to the population) than U.S. workers. The average wage for an 8-hour day in Cuba in 1957 is higher than for workers in Belgium, Denmark, France and Germany. Cuban labor receives 66.6 per cent of gross national income. In the U.S. the figure is 70 per cent, in Switzerland 64 per cent. 44 per cent of Cubans are covered by social legislation, a higher percentage than in the U.S."

In 1958 Cuba had a higher per-capita income than Austria and Japan. Cuban industrial workers had the eighth-highest wages in the world. In the 1950s Cuban stevedores earned more per hour than their counterparts in New Orleans and San Francisco. Cuba had established an eight-hour workday in 1933 – five years before FDR's New Dealers got around to it. Add to this a one-month paid vacation. The much-lauded (by liberals) social democracies of Western Europe didn't manage this till 30 years later.

Ugghh....sounds like a fortune 500 company to me.

JP did you really say that Batista was black, and Fidel and his regime is liily white? You might want to check those old black and whites again my friend. I know it's popular to say that Batista had some "negro"blood in him. But... seriously...have you seen him? And BTW, he was a murderer who suppressed dissent, just like what you accuse cigar man of doing, and he also sold his government to Lansky and other American gangsters. Oh that's right, they were American gangsters, so I guess that makes it alright.

And your empathy towards Biscet is touching. I am sure you felt the same way when Mandela was imprisoned in South Africa right?

Batista was black, a mulatta and was the GRANDSON OF A SLAVE!!!

here is a great article http://www.lewrockwell.com/woods/woods47.html

-----------------------
In fact, a high proportion of Batista’s army was black and mulatto, especially the officer corps. Castro and Che murdered 600 of them without trial in the first three months of 1959. Even the New York Times admits it. Had these massacres taken place anyplace else, they’d be called lynchings and the United Nations, NAACP, etc., would raise holy hell. Imagine, in any other setting, a lily white regime (like Castro’s) lynching several hundred blacks, dumping them in mass graves, then getting a standing ovation by the Congressional Black Caucus, Jesse Jackson, Maxine Waters, Charlie Rangel and Hollywood! Tom, compared to what Cuban-Americans see in the news every day, what Alice found on the other side of the looking glass seems perfectly logical.

Sheep:

All you Cuban bashers are very intelligent[as unfortunate bashed brains are allowed to be in their capacity.]
1. Prostitution does not exist in Cuba--no need, everyone has jobs.
2.Gambling is illegal in Cuba.
3.What secret police? Secret Police[unfortunately] are never secret because their existence must acknowledged for them to ever exist, whether theyre secret or not. What secret police? When have you ever heard from esteemed organizations of firing squads in Cuba? The U.S., the country with the most clever technology for stealth and concealment doesnt even have the means to conceal its own Firing Squads, in Guantanamo, in Iraq and everywhere else.
4.Cuba is dirt poor? To what extent? Because they cant buy PSP's or Plasma screens? I cant even afford one and im living in 'upper middle class', in the richest country in the world. How do you expect a country, a non-industrialized country like Cuba to afford this for each citizen at 'free market' world prices for the non-industrial products they emit. Not only that, but a country double-blockaded, it would sure take the works of a divine figure. Imagine the U.S., blockaded from the majority of available countries to do business with. Where would raw materials come from for Coke, Microsoft, for medicine? Where would our PSP's and Plasmas come from? Our computers, our food?
5.Cuba was better off with Batista? What a horrendous allegation[!]. That murderer who killed more than 600 people without trial. As opposed to the trials that WERE given to former Batista henchmen who had hundreds, even thousands of Cuban deaths in their hands. In Cuba, the country, impoverished with unemployment, high rates of infant mortality, 95% of population infected with parasites, illiteracy rates high, starvation a frequent occurence, was certainly better during the time in which all the latter existed[?!], under Batista.
6.Batista was mulatto, but its crazy to think of mulatto on mulatto crime isnt it? Mobutu NEVER killed congolese then. The Cuban government isnt composed of WHITE looking folks only. Maybe you should look at the Cuban government, youll be shocked at all shades in the spectrum, from negative to positive.
7. Youre all petty slanderers who listen too much to the popular slaveowners of this country that throw us lots of bones[Only after imperialist expansion], but not enough to save our lives on Sept. 11th, in Katrina and launch us into hypocritical wars that kill our kith and kin, and train them to be monsters.
