Osama Bin Laden/War on Terror Update

I'm following up on Paul's post from earlier today. According to Time magazine, OBL is very (let's hope deathly) ill:

The source, speaking on condition of anonymity, says that Saudi officials have received multiple credible reports over the last several weeks that Bin Laden has been suffering from a water-borne illness. The source believes that there is a "high probability" that Bin Laden has already died from the disease, but stressed that Saudi officials have thus far received no concrete evidence of Bin Laden's death.

"This is not a rumor," says the source. "He is very ill. He got a water-related sickness and it could be terminal. There are a lot of serious facts about things that have actually happened. There is a lot to it. But we don't have any concrete information to say that he is dead."

Ace offers six "adequate" reasons that the news reports of OBL assuming room temperature may be right:

None of these is a good reason on its own. Together, though, they do suggest that this time it's for real. Not strongly. But enough for those who want to believe. (And I'm among them.)

Rusty at The Jawa Report has what he says is even better news:

But a much bigger story is that the leader of Ansar al Sunnah, Muntasir al-Jibouri, has been captured! This is big news. And unlike the bin Laden 'news', this one seems likely to be true.

We should be shouting for joy that the leader of Ansar al Sunnah has been captured. This should just as big as when we got Zarqawi. It is that important.

Ansar al Sunnah's organizational structure is not as well know as al Qaeda's. It appears, though, that al-Jibouri's voice can be heard on at least two hostage murder videos-and probably many many more (thanks to Mike for the reminder). Like Zarqawi, al Jibouri is said to have personally murdered many of Ansar al Sunna's victims.

For awhile, Abu Musab al Zarqawi and the terrorist bastards at Ansar al Sunna appeared to be in a pissing match over who could behead the most civilians. Just this month the group posted a gruesome video of the beheading of 3 Iraqis.

Who are Ansar al Sunna, you say? I don't blame you for not knowing, I blame the ignorant press. And the Democrats. The press because they speak of insurgents in Iraq, and not terrorists. And the Democrats because they speak as if any one who is not formally within al Qaeda is not a terrorist. Eg., Saddam did not support terrorists because there was no link to al Qaeda. Idiots.

Ansar al Sunnah is the second worst terrorist organization in Iraq. They are probably made up of the remnants of Ansar al Islam, and mostly operate in Iraq's North. They are also Kurds. Occasional they pull off an operation in Kurdistan, but the Peshmerga (Kurdish fighters, secularists) have effectively wiped them out. The Kurds know what to do with Islamist terrorists. They kill them.

Screw Osama. Go over the the Drudge Report and read what the idiots in Arizona did to the junk pile that was supposed to be a memorial to the victims of 9-11. Someone take a D9 dozer or several cases of dynamite and destroy the farce. First hunt up the idiots that designed it and drop them over Iran without a parachute or bury them in the hole left from blowing the farce to hell and back.
The anti-american SOB's are a disgrace to the victims, themselves, their families, their state and the nation. I wish it wasn't so far away i'd buy the biggest truck I could get hold of, load it so heavy it would take a mile to build up speed and ram it through the farce.

Spy Agencies Say Iraq War Worsens Terror Threat

http://www.nytimes.com/2006/09/24/world/middleeast/24terror.html?pagewanted=1&_r=1

The intelligence estimate, completed in April, is the first formal appraisal of global terrorism by United States intelligence agencies since the Iraq war began, and represents a consensus view of the 16 disparate spy services inside government. Titled “Trends in Global Terrorism: Implications for the United States,’’ it asserts that Islamic radicalism, rather than being in retreat, has metastasized and spread across the globe.

An opening section of the report, “Indicators of the Spread of the Global Jihadist Movement,” cites the Iraq war as a reason for the diffusion of jihad ideology.

HAVE YOU GOT IT?? You stupid foolish hard-headed ignoramuses. YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT THE HECK YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT. You are nothing but lazy brained reactive indoctrinated inculcated cultist. You need to get off the Jesus juice they are giving you and join reality.

Actually arguing that Jesus is PRO-WAR and PRO-wealth creation is gonna come back to haunt you when you meet up with Peter...there is nothing logical, reasoned or Christian about your actions. You need to turn to each other and give each other a hard hard slap to hopefully knock some sense into you and to break you out of the horrible hypnotic spells you are under.

Tomorrows gonna come and you gonna look like the fools who've supported other dictators and criminal leaders with the only excuse being..." duh wel uh er yea duhh we didn''t know!!!...

And some of the top people in the CIA detention camps are realizing this and refusing to interrogate detanees as they do not want to be brought up on war crimes along with their leaders Cheney and Bush and Rumsfeld.

Ace's points are somewhat persuasive, but only if you view them all from the point of Osama's death being a fact, and all those he mentions being aware of that fact and determined to use their foreknowledge for advantage by positioning themselves, surreptitiously, to benefit somehow.

IOW, it smacks of every conspiracy theory on the web, and those before there was a web.

It seems highly implausible that Osama would be buried in a public place, or that al Qaeda and Taliban leaders would dare gather for a funeral for him, as it would be making themselves and the site a target.

Early US reaction indicated we have not seen the increased level of email and telecom chatter on monitored terrorist networks that would accompany such news.

If he is dead, then good riddance. But I wouldn't bet the farm on it.

Amazing that someone could find a soldier who regretted the things done in a WAR? Many WWII vets would say nothing of their experiences because of how painful they were. I find nothing in Collins' speech to change how I feel about what needs to be done to rid the world of terrorist scum, those who would disguise themselves as civilians and blow up innocents, and those who would occupy mosques and apartments and homes, in order to hide behind the safety skirts of those who aren't even fighting. No one with any brains ever would think that war is easy or clean or without moral ambiguity. But that doesn't make it any less necessary. War has been declared on us and brought on us, and I will continue to honor those who fight over there so that I don't have to over here.

Some people argue that bin Laden likely hasn't been in the Paki-Afghan border area for a while. I have an idea. Since Mogadishu has been overrun with the peace-lovers, bin Laden now has a more secure location there. And then this happened. Perhaps they secured that hospital for more than just their own wounded. Bin laden has to be near a hospital (if the kidney disease thing is true) and this would be a prime location for him now to get the regular treatment necessary uninterrupted.

Just a thought.

Again war was not declared on us by Iraq...they were no threat and they had no WMD....and now the Intel says the war is making things worse....believe what you want.....Sometimes when you're really angry you might put your fist through the wall because it helps diffuse your anger and seemed like the right thing to do but in the end you have a hole in the wall and a boxers fracture....the smart thing to have done would have been to us reason and address the problem with reason not force....Iraq and the WOT are like that.

Just because you fell like bombing anbd invading is doing something it is quite possible John Kerry was right and that handling this as a police /intel matter would actually be more effective. We are reacting EXACTLY the way OBL would have wanted us to react because he is smarter then our leaders and knew are reaction would hurt us more then it would help us and it would lead to more Jihadist.....exactly what has happened....we're giving up our liberties, we're wasting our money and our army, we're in-fighting and we're making more not less enemies and becoming more disliked by the world in general...
