Kos Sexy?

Sorry, I just don't get it. I do get that brainy men are sexy, but angry, loony men appearing in political ads peering through windows? Guys who say "screw you" to American contractors whose bodies were desecrated in Iraq? Whatever floats your boat, I guess. There are quite a few people on death row with devoted groupie followings, so I guess it takes all kinds. If Mary Matalin can find James Carville sexy then I guess nothing should surprise me.

I just wrote "I guess" three times in this short post. I guess that means I don't really know what to make of this one.

Kos isn't hideously ugly, but he's kind of creepy-looking. I think it's the sparse eyebrows, I'm not sure. But I don't find his personality attractive at all. If I did, I probably wouldn't be criticising his looks. I don't know much about the others on Oprah's list, not being in the US, except for Barack Obama. And while I disagree with a lot of his politics, his sincerity is attractive.

Intelligence is very definitely sexy - Stephen Fry (despite being gay!) has always been near the top of my list. I had to break up with an astonishingly good-looking boyfriend a few years back becase, while he was divine to look at, he was thick as two short planks.

As for the List, I'm beginning to wonder if anyone over at Harpo Studios )and the extended Oprah empire) is straight. While I'm glad the list ignores Actors (who seem to disproportionately comprise the "Hottest" lists), I think it could be a lot more "inclusive".

As an aside, I am getting beyond tired of the coronation of Barack Obama. I have yet to see him do anything substantial, something that demonstrates his ability to be effect as President, i.e. creating and steering legislation through congress, taking an independent approach to a controversial issue, voting contrary to Dick Durbin, having an organized, effective operation (Lynn Sweet of the Chicago Sun Times wrote that she did not believe that Obama could be effective as a presidential candidate as his staff and office are not up to snuff -- and she's one of those who continually tout him as the Democrat "Rock Star"), superior oratorical skills, or identifying a core issue that would be his focus. Some might say the Iraq War, but twice Obama has answered contituent queries inre the W.O.T. by exclaiming the Iraq War is "dumb". A Cult of Personality even greater than that of Bill Clinton surrounds this guy, but none of his supporters can articulate just what he stands for.

Alas, he had to go and be a Republican, which means when you do something like this you'd damn well better resign. Maybe a still-in-office William Jefferson can spare some cold, hard cash to get him back on his feet.

Lorie Byrd:

Brian, I guess you had to misquote me to adequately twist what I said. NOGO POSTAL is the one who brought up the Clinton comparison. I would never have gone there otherwise, but thought it needed to be answered.

Here is the deal, we all know how liberals feel about Bill Clinton having phone, oral and cigar sex with an intern who was obviously working under him, and how they feel about him trying to smear her as a lying, delusional stalker until the DNA proved otherwise. You are all on record there, and obviously here, dismissing the entire affair as nothing but consentual sex. Republicans are on record saying we think it is not only a destraction and a security risk to do that in the Oval Office with a young intern, but that it is kinda creepy and sad. The positions were staked out years ago and have not changed.

Now watch what Repubicans say about Foley. I don't expect any blaming the page or attacking the opposition. Republicans will probably be harder on Foley than the Dems will be. That is a difference between the way Dems and Republicans react and try as you might, those are the facts. No equating the acts, but definitely a difference in other respects.

Now, this is a post about Kos and a sexiest men list. There is a post at Wizbang Politics about Foley which has been up for a couple of hours. Please comment there on it. Oh, really?

The page worked for Rep. Rodney Alexander, R-La., who said Friday that when he learned of the e-mail exchanges 10 to 11 months ago, he called the teen's parents. Alexander told the Ruston Daily Leader, "We also notified the House leadership that there might be a potential problem," a reference to the House's Republican leaders.

And to show that they were being hard on Foley, the House leadership immediately took... what action, exactly?

Okay, I told you all in my comment above that I would reserve the right to delete any off topic comments (which I hate to do) because there has been a Foley post up for a while now at Wizbang Politics. There is now an additional one up.

This is the last Foley comment here, then I will delete any in an effort to steer the conversation to the Foley threads. Brian is right that Foley did at first try to, if not downright deny it, downplay it. I had not read that until after my earlier comments. I think the cycle of that denial has been less than 24 hours. Bill Clinton lied for months and called those telling the truth, liars, for months. I think what Foley did, including the denial, is horrible. I think he should be held accountable. I read earlier that Dennis Hastert has either referred or commenced some sort of ethics action, but I assume that is now moot with the resignation though. I expect there will be a criminal investigation. So far every blogger I have read, including me, is in favor of such an investigation and appropriate punishment to the full extent of the law (and probably then some).

Okay, now either talk some sexy Kos or scoot over to Wizbang Politics. Thanks.
