Via Newsbusters:
"I have spoken to Bob Woodward a number of times about a variety of subjects over the years, but I did not agree to be interviewed for his latest book. Further, there are statements in the book, directly or implicitly attributed to me, that did not and never could have come from me. I never discuss any personal conversations that I may have with President George H.W. Bush, and he never discusses with me any conversations that he has with President George W. Bush."According to Real Clear Politics, strangely, the Brent Scrowcroft statement above which was released to the Associated Press could not be found at any AP driven news site.
Update: Correction -- I apologize for putting an "r" in Scowcroft's name where it doesn't belong.

Saw something on Hewitt's blog the other day about some liberal doctor who disputes something in Woodward's book. Hey didn't Seymour Hersh admit to just making stuff up? They all do it.
Democrats are liars. It's just a sad, sick fact.

At least Woodward is making progress. His current batch of made up quotes don't include exclusive comments from a guy in a coma. He has been making crap up for so long and making money doing it so he doesn't see a problem with this as long as the popular kids like him again.

Someone suggested it the other day and it's true. Bob Woodward got a lot of criticism on that earlier book about Bush because it wasn't all that critical, and he was probably being shunned at the DC cocktail party circuit. Gotta get back on that social invitation list. It means everything to these liberal elites. Everything.
These people are nothing if not incredibly shallow people.

If Scowcroft (not Scrowcroft Lorie) released this statement to the AP, and the AP didn't publish it, how did Newsbusters and Real Clear Politics get the quote?
Oh, wait a minute -- the RCP post has a link that's titled "view image -- oh yeah, that looks as real as 3 dollar bill.
Let's pretend it is real - where is the rest of the "statement", to put this into context instead of just a floating quote - no information as to when it was said, where it was said, to whom.
If it was a "release" that was (according to RCP) "confirmed by Scowcroft's office" - why wasn't it published on Scowcroft stationary? (see image link above)
Hmm, let's check Scowcroft's website - nothing there, not even on his "Announcements" page.
I think we know why the AP hasn't published this story. It looks fake. I hope it is real -- I don't think I can stand listening to LoveAmerica Idiot, Scapiron, 914, Mitchell, and the rest of Comic Book Commenters' explanations as to how this is Bill Clinton's fault if it turns out to be a hoax.

I'm a dummy but it was easy to figure out that Woodward used rumors and lies to write all of his books. He sprinkles a truth about every 25 pages. The man is out to make money and how do you make money today? Play to the suckers of the day. Today the biggest suckers in history are the democrats. In that respect he's a very smart man. His writing are an example of a failure in life. Can't do anything constuctive, be destructive. Hey, that's a description of all democrats, their lives are based on the lie, 'we can do it (whatever 'it' is) better', but they never do it at all, much less better.

Hey, that's an idea - let's do a keyword search for "Scowcroft" on the Fox News website - nope, nothing relevant there.
What about Drudge - you can always count on the Drudge report. Nope - a keyword search of Drudge turns up nothing relevant.
How about Google News then -- it's has to show up on Google.... nope.
So, all we have to go on is a phony looking image, and the word of several conservative websites that it's authentic and verified? Okay... we'll see.....
I'm glad you guys aren't getting desperate and just reaching for anything you can throw out there to divert attention away fm Hastert and Foley. Besides, if it's a hoax I'm sure Bill and Hillary have covered their tracks by now -- lol.

You must be an incredibly pleasant person. Sorry about the extra "r". I have seen his name spelled incorrectly so often that I guess it just stuck. My "e" gets left off all the time, but I only occasionally bother to point it out since it really doesn't have anything to do with the content of the comments.
Hmm. It never occured to me that it might be fake, as you claim it must be. I guess it is because the telltale Abilene Kinko's fax stamp was not visible. If it is a fake statement then that will be an interesting story. Maybe Lucy Ramirez is even involved. If not, it should be a really big story, but it won't be. Woodward has been disputed time and time again, but he is a liberal icon. He could quote dead people (or people in comas, oh yeah, he did that already) and would not be held up as any less credible by the media.

Ooops, back to that whole "accuracy" thing again -- I never said it must be fake. I said it looks fake, and "I hope it isn't" - and "we'll see". Please point out where I said "it must be fake", Lorie.
As to your remark about unpleasantness -- you must have had a bad news day today, to trot out stuff like this, and to react so -- "unpleasantly" -- when someone points you may be publishing made-up crap.

Lee:Let's say for a moment the Scowcroft isn't true. Why would you care? All's fair in politics and war, right? It appears that ABC news was attempting to lie about the actual age of the page involved in Foley-gate.Should we expect an apology from Democrats about that? No? How about Patty Wetterling in Minnesota who is running an ad claiming GOP leaders covered up Foleys pedophelia? Did you see the HOTLINE blog story about the Democrats plan to knowingly mislead voters by pretending that there is no difference between emails and instant messenges-again, so they can claim it was a GOP coverup? Also I note that at least some Democratic activists knew about the IMs for months-but kept quiet so they could spring it just before election time.No problem there, right Lee? By the way-why isn't keeping quiet about those IMs covering up for a pedophile? It seems like that would violate some law.Maybe no one was worried about that angle though, because they knew that-actually-there was no pedophilia involved.Yep-heads the GOP loses (because they accept a possibly false statement about a soon-to-be-remaindered book-and are thus lying fools),tails the Democrats win (because politics is a contact sport and telling baldfaced lies is fine if it helps you win elections). As someone else said,as soon I think the Democrats have reached bottom, they dig a new basement.

Seriously-I'd like to know-why are Democrats so worked up about this after all they did to save Clinton? I can see why I'd be p*55ed-but why are you? Surely there's more to it than naked lust for power-ha ha! So when did ABC news obtain these IMs? Did they tell the authorities-or just hold on to it for a few months to make the politcal damage more devastating? From what I've seen that's what ABC did-sat on it for for a few months. That shows that the real motivation for this story wasn't about stopping a pedophile,it was about helping Democrats obtain power-which is pretty much why the MSM runs any political story.Well,at least you guys have learned to stop faking memos.

Lee:So What? So why would you care? I missed the Democratic party outrage when Mel Reynolds was let out of jail by Bill Clinton. He was in jail for pedophilia, remember?.I don't recall Democrats demanding Bill Clinton be charged with rape after Juanita Broderick came forward.Hence it seems to me that Democrats don't care much about sex crimes unless they involve Republicans.Yet now it is the worst scandal ever to hit Washington that Foley sent some creepy emails and IMs to a page. They were so terrible,in fact, that the page's parents didn't want the matter pursued. That being the case why would anyone do more than tell Foley to stop bothering this guy-which Foley did? Back to my original point-if this WAS such a great crime that the speaker should resign and Democrats should control congress-why wasn't it enough of a crime for ABC news to call the friggin' cops? For God's sake-isn't that obvious even to Democrats? Instead-as I noted-they sat on it for months until just before the election.Either they didn't think any pages were in danger-or they didn't actually care if they were.So which of those alternatives makes you feel better,Lee? Either one makes me think this was nothing more than a political hatchett job.

The good thing here is Scowcroft is a real person and still alive, so if his statement published above was a fake, he can deny it tomorrow, can't he?
Too bad we can't seem to catch up with "Lucy Ramirez," isn't it? Could have saved Dan Rather's career and spared us all that annoying perkiness from a 50-ish broad. As if.
Woodward's "interviews" with Bill Casey are completely fabricated. The man never opened his eyes or spoke a word in the time frame Woodward claimed to have "talked" with him. When one newsman was going to interview Woodward about that book, he asked Roger Ailes what he could ask which might settle that controversy. Ailes told him, "Ask what color the curtains were, what color Casey's pajamas were, were there flowers in the room?"
Woodward replied to the inquiry, "I can't say - it might reveal sources."
Uh-huh.

RCP is staking their veracity on it by publicly claiming that Scowcroft's office has confirmed it. That's a great deal better than the New York Times anonymous sources, don't you think?
And, oh yeah, I was wondering. Are you sure you want to deny the authenticity of this letter based on Scowcroft's supposed office stationary? Does he have stationary?
From what I've seen, Hastert sat on it for three years ...
Well, I think that would depend on your point of view now, wouldn't it? Fordham says he told, Palmer said he did not. Both have reasons to want to lie. You, Lee, believe Republicans like to cover up for paedophiles so we know who you would like to believe and dismiss you accordingly.
