Palestinian disease?
GAZA (Reuters) - A senior figure in Hamas, the Islamist group that heads the Palestinian government, published an article on Tuesday condemning internal violence and questioning whether it had become a "Palestinian disease."
Ghazi Hamad, a member of Hamas who also acts as the spokesman for the Hamas-led government, said he was disturbed by growing factionalism in the Palestinian territories, including recent deadly clashes between rival political movements."Has violence become a culture implanted in our bodies and our flesh?" he asked in the sharply worded article, published in the widely read Palestinian newspaper al-Ayyam.
"We have surrendered to it until it has become the master and is obeyed everywhere -- in the house, the neighborhood, the family, the clan, the faction and the university."
And the Mosque. Violence isn't just the culture in the Palestinian territories. It's the culture of radical Islam.
Charles Johnson at LGF writes:
You mean indoctrinating children to crave death and violence, militarizing every aspect of society, watching hate propaganda on television 24/7, and voting for a genocidal terrorist gang ... might have consequences?
What a concept.

jp2,
I assume by 600,000 you are referring to the new Lancet study?
If so, try to cite something that has the tiniest sliver of credibility. You know when your anti-war "studies" get deconstructed and thoroughly discredited by anti-war sites, you're doing a bad job.

The actual number reported was 654,965.
Of course, in the study only 1/3 are attributed to "allied action". The rest are described as either "other" or "unknown". A very precise study indeed. And of course the allied death toll includes Al Qaeda members, insurgents, Saddam army officers.
And it doesn't subtract those that would have been killed is Saddam had been left in power. The same group reported 567,000 children died during the sanctions regime.
And of course, what the heck this has to do with Palestine I can't figure.
But, thanks JP2. Great post. Always appreciate your input.

I think you are all being unfair. JP2 is citing the number of times he's been called a moron this week. (It's been a slow week so far.)

Call me a bit dim-witted, a little slow, hell, call me stupid if you want... But I have one question for you jp2.
What does a leader of the Hamas party questioning the violence of his society, which is a major turn of events if you ask me, have to do with the "alleged" death toll in Iraq?

The funny thing is that it seems odd to them when it involves palestinians fighting palestinians... When it comes to palestinians terrorizing Israeli citizens or Americans...well then it doesn't seem to bother them.
But what could you expect when their children are learning that being a jihad warrior is more than just taking part in military service per se; it is also a Muslim's religious duty that constitutes the fulfillment of a religious commandment for the sake of Allah, an act loftier than any other.
