It's Racist Only if a Conservative Does It

The latest from a tolerant, open minded liberal:

wolf.jpg
BLITZER: I have been covering the Cheneys for many years, including on a day-to-day basis when he was the defense secretary during the first Gulf War and I was CNN's Pentagon correspondent . . . I was surprised when she came out swinging on Friday, surprised . . . at her sniping at my patriotism.

Wolf Blitzer
CNN Late Edition
October 29, 2006

Translation: Oh Lawdy! Massa's wife so mad she even beatin' on us house slaves now. What dis ol' world comin' to?

You're probably wondering what this guy was thinking writing something like this. Well, as far as those on the left are concerned, they are so morally superior to conservatives that it's ok if they post it. It's only racist if a conservative does.

Hypocrisy rears its ugly head.

Hat tip: Blue Crab Boulevard

Update: John Hawkins walks us down memory lane of liberal racism:

Liberals love to accuse conservatives of racism, but as a general rule, liberals tend to be some of the most racially insensitive people you'll ever come across. They've thrown Oreos at Michael Steele, photoshopped Joe Lieberman in blackface, called black Republicans Uncle Toms and House Slaves, and they called Marvin Stewart, a black member of the Minutemen, a n*gger at Columbia University.

From Jane Hamsher:

blackfacehamsher.jpg

From Steve Gilliard:

blackfacgilliard.jpg

Update II: Michelle Malkin hits the mark:

They imagine racism where there is none, and then think nothing of employing blatant racist imagery to attack those who aren't liberal enough for them.

Indeed, one should ask the question. But, you'd have to ask it at the Whisky Bar (an open and tolerant liberal blog), since the question would have folks scratching their heads around here, because (and here's a flash) it has nothing to do with racism. And even if it did, the accompanying graphic is inappropriate. That is the point, in case your single-track mind missed it.

Indeed, why would a LIBERAL post by a LIBERAL blogger on a LIBERAL blog ever post ever try to connect the two. But apparently they did. The poster's logic? Blitzer is a--sorry, kids--house n****er for Republicans. And that doesn't make dick for sense, let alone have a thing to do with the Cheney/Blitzer fracas.

Lee only thinks of one thing here at Wizbang. His single purpose is to discredit everything that he sees, in spite of the logical pretzles it takes to accomplish the goal. Wizbang and its ilk are the enemy to be vanquished. This time, Lee signaled his motives by blindly rushing to weigh in on something he simply didn't understand. Now he's in a dilemma, since he voiced an opinion on something for which he thought Wizbang was responsible. This will be interesting.

But, the bizarre thing is that the group that is supposed to be the champion for the cause of the black man doesn't see (or refuses to see) the damage done. Why is that? And why isn't that worthy of intense discussion? Don't you care about the black man, Lee? Or could it be that the true racists are being discovered?

Geez. Do all of you libs have ADD? Okay, Lee, While you're googling, why don't you search for "condoleezza rice" and tell me what you find. Maybe you can explain the predominance of left-leaning blogs and radio talk shows engaging in the portrayal racial sterotypes. You'll find:

Madison, WI talk radio host John "Sly" Sylvester on "Progressive Talk 1670 AM" who referred to Condoleezza Rice as "Aunt Jemimah" and Colin Powell as "Uncle Tom".

king-robert-the-bruce.blogspot.com who refers to the Secretary as "US Secretary of State Aunt Jemimah Condoleezza Rice".

Garry Trudeau drew the President calling Dr. Rice "Brown Sugar" in his sadly unfunny comic strip, "Doonesbury"

Thomas Oliphant draws Miss Rice as a parrot with oversized lips.

Ted Rall, formerly syndicated by the WaPo, lampoons Miss Rice boasting about her role as "Bush's Beard" and his "House N*****". Another cartoon demands she "hand over her hair straightener" and has her going to an "inner-city racial re-education camp".

Mr. Danziger, still syndicated by the New York Times, depicts Dr. Rice as a barefoot woman in a rocking chair with a baby bottle. One Danziger cartoon shows her as the slave Prissy from "Gone With The Wind."

Really? It's only one schmuck who posted a really stupid blog post? Come on Lee. Will you at least try to get a clue? But, then what should we expect with progressives? One would expect the NAACP to rejoice in the advancement of a woman of color to two of the highest posts in the land, but they were strangely silent on the historic occasion when Rice was nominated to become the first black, female Secretary of State. And then there's The National Organization of Women, who have long purported to stand against the trivialization and objectification of women as sex objects, apparently have no problem when Gary Trudeau depicts Dr. Rice as "Brown Sugar". Hey, check it out, that's a two-for-one put-down. She was slammed for both her race and gender.

So, now we come back to Blitzer in blackface, and you have the temerity of ripping us for pointing it out. And then, as if to add insult to injury, you question our intelligence by suggesting this is an isolated incident.

Need you be reminded that it was Democrats who were the strongest dissenters and most racist when it came to the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Here were the votes:

The Original House Version:
Democratic Party: 153-96 (61%-39%)
Republican Party: 138-34 (80%-20%)

The Senate version:

Yes I might call them on it, but trust me, that's more out of just playing got ya, than actually caring. When people jump over themselves to say they are not racist, I actually find it amusing.

The only black people who care whether whites are racist or not, are the ones who profit from it-insert Jessie and Al here- most ordinary black folks understand that it's something we have to live with and we move on. AGAIN, the only time racism becomes a problem, is when someone in power tries to use it to put another person at a disadvantage. Or, when they use it to attack an inherent right that someone under the laws of this country should have.

Wowser, this is ugly. Some of you are twisting yourselves into contortions to defend this. Unbelievable.

Lee thinks this is a Republican thing until he finds out otherwise and then it's suddenly not a problem.

Hugh doesn't realize this isn't his blog and he can't pick the topics. A post goes up about some blatant racist depiction and Hugh's response is, "Let's talk about the economy."

Field Negro doesn't care if someone is racist, but chose a puzzling handle anyway. Tell me, FN, if I vigorously defend myself saying I'm not racist, why is your response that you find it "amusing"? Or are you going to use the argument I heard on NPR recently that "I just don't realize I'm racist"?

Of course there is still racism out there. But there are laws that protect people from the blatant use of it. Equal housing, equal employment, equal education, etc. And there are people out there willing to help those without "wealth" or "power" to see that justice is done when they're wronged on the basis of their race. Unless one wishes to remain a victim to make a point, that is.

Racism, racist remarks, and images like those posted above suck and those who excuse it in some circumstances, but not others, also suck.

I would like to make a sugg... (Below threshold)

I would like to make a suggestion to all of my fellow white countrymen posting here at Wizbang: Please get a clue. Using the handle field-negro has nothing to do with playing the victim-far from it. That would be your friend the house negro.-See Condi and her Birmingham story for instance- Nor is it inherently racist, although maybe to you it seems that way because you are cleary more comfortable with he house negro by your side.(See the ridiculous reference to Michael Jordon,General Honore, MLK,and Colin Powell above)In many respects, house negroes all. My heroes in the civil rights era weren't King, Jackson, and Young. The were X, Hampton, and Brown. So unlike the people you mentioned, my goal in life is not to make you comfortable or serve as pabulum to soothe your own racial hangups. And it certainly isn't to turn the other cheek. {That would be Gandhi,and Jesus}

Oyster, for the record, I don't care if you are racist or not. Once again you miss my point. You being a racist or not one, does not effect my life one little bit. But you do make some good points about the laws that are in place to protect people from the blatant use of racism, and as long as those laws are there; you can be whatever the f&^k you want.

I hope that clears up all the misunderstanding we have about each other.

Mike, I am with you. Dr. Sanity would have a "Field Day" with Field Negro.

Let me translate the gibberish FN posted: "House Negro=Successful, well-adjusted people."

That's the same thing as the infamous, empty slogan,
"You're acting white"(i.e. white=successful).

Kills you folks to know that I am not a victim doesn't it? I would love to post a picture of my white wife to really send you off the deep end :)

Clay,Mitchell, and SCSI wuzzy, you can't compensate for your small dicks by insulting me. May I suggest that you pick up some books and read; maybe a little knowledge will curb your insecurities.

Although honestly, when it comes to yours truly, you guys will always come up a little....ah ahem short ;)

You apparently missed my point. My point is that you are indeed not a victim but are attempting to portray yourself as one by employing the moniker 'field-negro'. Based on your postings and your moniker, it's obvious that you fancy yourself a victim, albiet a defiant one... which is the stereotypical hero of the left.
