Right now, the Dow is down by about 29 points, one day after the Democrats win back the House and probably the Senate.
Update: Rush just made a great point that I wanted to share. Even though the unemployment rate is a mere 4.4% and the stock market is at an all time high, both of which occurred under the Republican's and President Bush's watch, the MSM perpetuated the idea that the economy was in trouble. However, now that the Dems are in charge of Congress, be prepared for the MSM to start reporting on all the good economic news. Suddenly there will be news stories about how Americans are feeling so much more upbeat about their economic circumstances.

The Dems have been hostile to tax cuts for decades, and Pelosi and Co have already announced they will not let the Bush tax cuts be renewed.
They are hostile to business and will attempt to impose 'windfall profits' taxes on oil companies, virtually guaranteeing that the supply of domestic oil and petroleum products will be reduced. Other taxes, 'fees', and other sources of revenue will be raised to supposedly pay for 'free' health care and other new entitlements.
The Social Security crisis will be addressed, but only as a 2008 campaign ploy, as they will blame the GOP for not solving the crisis., (which the Dems said never existed.) They will 'solve' the problem by pushing through tax hikes and benefit reductions, but they'll need GOP votes and those Republicans who vote for these will be pilloried by their Dem opponents.

As much as investors like tax cuts, they realize about the most they could hope for - no matter who was in charge - was those already in place be made permanent. That isn't something of immediate concern, anyway, since they don't expire until 2010.
So there was little else a Republican Congress could have delivered for the economy. The deficit is already falling far faster than even Bush projected. Most of the market will cheer if Democrats move to eliminate "corporate welfare," because that generally goes to a few large companies to give them further advantage over their competition, it will be a good thing for everyone if it goes. Please show me a link to any reputable source (not a W appointee or sycophant) who states that the "tax cuts" created the current economic "resurgence".
my health insurance goes up every year. College tuition goes up something like 10% a year. Yeah you republicans created a great economy.
You also increased the debt by 50% to 8.5 TRILLION. and thats all credit card debt baby, so if the the adult party has to act like adults and take away W's mastercharge, and ask Paris Hilton to contribute just a wittle bit while our heroes are getting shot at, maybe you should just STFU, since youv'e been wrong about everything else.
you people claim to support the troops, unless theyre democrats and then you piss on them.

It's UP knowing that the dems control the house, the senate, the governers, state senates, state legislaters and Rummy's gone. Any questions? Take losing like the women you are. As far as the unemployment rate. Bush I and II still have not created ONE net job in 10 years. NOT ONE!Look on the bright side, you have murdered record number of Americans and Iraqi's. There's something to be proud of.

Its really very simple. For years Rush and his commrades have been saying that the Dems are driven by lust for power and they love to see bad news for America. The left wants the economy to tank. The liberals want the war effort to fail. The moonbats love seeing our soldiers die.
It went on and on for years and now just one day after the Democratic party takes back the house we see the Neo-Cons crying that the sky is falling because the DOW was temporarily down by 29 point. What we saw in the past was projection on the part of right putting their modus operandi onto the liberals.
Offhand I'd say the best thing about this election is that the right won't be able to hide their true feelings and agenda. Now we can all ask... why does the right hate America?

Every single non-millionare that voted for Bush in 2004 voted against their own best interests, but I am sure it takes more wisdom and more integrity to admit that than I am likely to find here.
This administration and it's cohorts have done tremendous damage to this country - it's economy, it's reputation, and it's future. All with the help of self-deluded cheerleaders that never seem to understand what they are talking about.
Time to stop allowing yourself to be tricked into betraying your own country - time to realize that the Neo-Cons have sold nothing but lies for the last 6 years. Time to get up off your knees.
And yes - it is time to say you are sorry.

Better than I have in a long time.
I really hope the new folks voted into offices in DC and around the country will pay all us voters back with careful but strong reality-based vision and new policies that will help this country move forward to join the world instead of sliding into unilateralist isolationism and xenophobia like it's been doing for a while now.
I'm really tired of seeing the Bush administration try fight the War on Terror as if it were WWII part two and I still can't believe the "trickle down" theory of economics hasn't been as discredited in DC as it has been among academics.

Even though the unemployment rate is a mere 4.4% and the stock market is at an all time high, both of which occurred under the Republican's and President Bush's watch, the MSM perpetuated the idea that the economy was in trouble.
You forgot to mention that under Bush, the national debt increased by nearly 60% - now it's over 8 trillion dollars. A helluva legacy for our children and grandchildren, huh?

And your crowing about the economy and the job market completely ignores the national debt. I am sorry but what happen to being a true american. Everyone here is playing this talking game and pointing fingers laughing at the other side. Like Pelosi said, its time to work to together and move forward. Right now you're playing this I hate the other side game but politics is about what will help your kids tomorrow. That is it. It isn't the Iraq war, or the national debt. Yes those issues are pertinent to your future, but argue about them based upon how your life and your children's are going to get better from solving the problem. Arguing to one-up some random white guy you have no clue of across the country helps no one, and not solving the problems of this country with a true spirit of nationalism and love is UNPATRIOTIC.
Be a true american and make a real difference. I wish all of you understood the rich can give a flyng "beep" about your concerns (bush, kerry etc.), yet you should all stand together and fight for them, not divided based on two meaningless political words people brand each other to win votes or affiliate themselves to a club. Become a true American; let's have a beer and get out of this high school mentality, eh?
If you think I just sit on my ass writing you can check my site of what I am trying to do in my own community.
