Democrat Congressman Dennis Kucinich Calls to Cut Funds for Iraq

Obviously, we must consider the source because Kucinich is a bit of a nutcase. Anyway, while on a blogger conference call with Congressman Boehner, I took advantage and asked him about Kucinich's announcement. He doesn't believe that this would succeed because not only would the Republicans fight this, but most of the Democrats would as well, and many of them simply because it's Kucinich who is proposing this asinine idea.

And while we're on the topic of asinine ideas, Murtha says he has the votes to defeat Steny Hoyer and become Majority Leader. I asked Congressman Boehner to comment on that as well. He was incredulous and said that he didn't think Murtha had the votes. Other than that he said he didn't want to comment on the Democrats' leadership race. Since the House Dems' leadership vote takes place tomorrow, we'll find out soon enough if Murtha is just blowing smoke.

More about the Boehner conference call: He has a very nice voice on the phone. However, he doesn't read blogs (Insert Faith Hill's "What?!" here). The only time he comes into contact with blogs is when his staff prints off material for him to read. I was quite surprised to hear that. And when asked if he's read books on the subject of Islamic terrorism, he said he has but can't remember which ones off the top of his head.

Update: Hot Air has the video of Murtha not just saying he has the votes for become House Majority Leader but also of Murtha trying to explain the Abscam situation.

Oh, but he looks like an ungroomed rats ass so therefore only nuts would support him.

It's a confidential vote, so what Murtha believes is irrelevant.

He's all mouth and ego and my opinion is that anyone who votes for him really is stupid. But then the entire state of Ohio has been sinking into the swamp for the past 20 years. Kucinich represents the ultra-liberal segment of Cleveland, and is a standing joke in the rest of the state. Remember, he was the 'boy' mayor of the city when Cleveland had to default on its bank loans in the late 1970's. What do you think gave rise to all the Cleveland jokes? The city has yet to live down his antics. No wonder the moonbats love him.

We're not all idiots. Unfortunately, a good 60% of our voters. Look at how the ACORN-sponsored communist wallet-rape called "Minimum Wage Amendment" (multiple redundancy alert) passed.

The Republicans here managed to be so disgusting and obviously corrupt that they managed to scare off a sizable group of Republicans and conservative-leaning independents, and now anyone who wanted to smoke or have a paying job has to pay the dividends of that.

It's time to cut off the faucet. These rabid warmaongers need to be slapped away from the trough.

Every Iraqi can stand on their own feet and their leaders can stop their jockeying for political advantage. It's time to stand down and let them stand up. We removed Saddam, it's now their country without a dictator, have at it.

It has already devolved into a civil war. "Police commandos" raid a university and kidnap 150 people in Baghdad where the US military is supposed to have a presence? What kind of benchmarks other than what we have achieved do you really think more troops, more money, more death and destruction at OUR hands will be enhanced.

Get a grip folks.....it's time to call this exactly what it is...Geroge W. Bush's major travesty against humankind and begin by telling the world how sorry we are we allowed him to do this.

Then phased withdrawl. It's over, we never had any business going there in the first place. We are no longer accomplishing any misssion. Time to admit our failure. Imperialism is not or job.

I am running for President of the United States to enable the Goddess of Peace to encircle within her arms all the children of this country and all the children of the world.

I believe sincerely that we should bring in U.N. peacekeepers and bring our troops home.

We have weapons of mass destruction we have to address here at home. Poverty is a weapon of mass destruction. Homelessness is a weapon of mass destruction. Unemployment is a weapon of mass destruction.

Larkin:

Don't be so sure Congress wont cut off funds for this miserable fiasco in Iraq. The Democrats ran on a platform of cut-and-run and they receieved an overwhelming mandate from the American people to do just that. The Democrats whalloped the Republicans 55-42% in the generic Senate vote and crushed them in the individual Senates races by winning 72% of the contests there. Those are landslide numbers by any measure. Luckily for the Republicans, only 1/3 of the Senate seats were up for grabs; otherwise, they would be in a much smaller minority than they are today.

The Democrats don't need the Republicans to cut off funds for the war. The leadership can prevent funding bills from coming to the floor in the first place. And I think they'll do just that if Bush doesn't heed the will of the people as expressed in this election and start pulling our troops out of that godforsaken cesspool of humanity known as Iraq.

Larkin, you brain-dead moron, Democrats did NOT run on withdrawal from Iraq. They refused to endorse any sort of timetable, and squealed like stuck pigs whenever the words "cut and run" were used.

Exit polls showed only one-third of voters in the midterm favor withdrawal on any timetable. Some "mandate."

But if you want to try to cut off funding for the troops: Go ahead. Make my day.

Punk.

The worst travesty against mankind is allowing the Democrap Party of Perpetual Fraud to continue. Your an ignorant POS who knowingly lies just to make yourself feel better. Instead of sticking your head up your ass so as to not hear the facts your tongue should be ripped from your stupid mouth and stuffed in your ears. That way you won't be able to hear your Masters talking Points(LIES) and repeat them like an uninformed jackass.

"It's over, we never had any business going there in the first place."

Tell that to your Master BJ Clinton and ask him why he wrote the Iraq Liberation Act. Everything your party says are lies because they are frauds and dishonest. Pretending to care is the fraud and a necessary evil for the two-faced phony democrats. You are the usefull idiots who make it possible for them to pursue their selfish agenda and personal goals while throwing you a bone here and their.

The ones responsible for the continued turmoil in Iraq are the terrorists , "YOU" , your dumbasscrap Party and the propagandist democrat Media. You all speak the same language and have the same goals. You are all one big happy family working together. You are not American, YOU ARE DEMOCRAT!

Why does Lee's support for Dennis Kucinich not surprise? Well, he gets his wish. Kucinich does think that the next move by the Democrats is to defund the military, as reported by Drudge this morning. And Kucinich thinks he should be President. I'd sooner vote for John "Reporting for Doody" Kerry.

I haven't seen this question asked (it probably has been), so I thought I'd pose it...

What if the Democrats vote to cut off funding (because that would pass and get through Senate filibusters and prompt a presidential veto), and Bush doesn't pull the troops out? How long would the Democrats be able to justify leaving our troops in Iraq unfunded? Bush has nothing to lose by the strategy (and in reality, how far out is the funding? in other words, how long would it have to go on before supplies actually began to run low?) and the R's are already useless and proving it more and more by their decisions lately...

How well would that play across America (we already know how it would play in Cambridge, MA and San Francisco...)

It's always about the MONEY and TAXES with you dopes.

And just like breathing you open your mouth and lies spew out. Do you even know when you are telling a lie? Makes no difference when your every word spoken is meant to deceive , smear or change the subject.

With Democrats in charge , 100% guaranteed failure. That is what they do. Like the 1000+ lives that were lost in KATRINA , Democrat stupidity , corruption and incompetance as far as the eye can see.
