Steyn mutters that "cut and run" has been replaced by "chat and run" and the conservative blogosphere wets itself. Heh.
Chat and run. At last - a three word sentence -- all single syllables -- that helps explain the shattered, confused post-election world conservatives find themselves in today -- conservatives who have been in a confused spin ever since 11/7 (the New 9/11 - aka the end of the world as they knew it).
Yawn. As a mem'ist Steyn is strictly second-rate. No wonder conservatives embrace him... he's as mediocre and their beloved Decider'er-In-Chief.

Mark is mad that they didn't leave the green zone. Why on earth would anyone be afraid to leave the green zone. Is it dangerous outside the greenzone?
The neo-cons are in complete free fall. Bush hand picks his ISG members, then the bushites scream and yell that they don't like what they say. Are the neo-cons angry that the ISG told the truth and pulled no punches on their assessment of Iraq? Seems that Sec. of Defense Gates seems to feel the same way that the ISG does. Think Gates will leave the green zone when he goes to Iraq? Yep, probably with a batallion for security.
Bush created this mess in Iraq, there was no civil war, the iraqi people had running water, sewage systems, electricity, no fear of being abducted, tortured and killed before the invasion. Now there is massive unemployment, basically no oil exportation, in bagdad residents get a few hours of electricity a day, have no flushing toilets and the water out of the tap is undrinkable. Not to mention the fact that kids don't go to school for fear of sectarion retalliation.
But hey...the Bagdad morgue is doing RECORD business. Lots of bodies with drill holes in their bodies, limbs, heads, genetalia cut off. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED

Conservatives are not in free fall or denial about what needs to be done or not done.
Seperate from Conservatives, The Bush administration is attempting to appease detractors while not completely abandoning ship.
Any similarity between the Bush administration and Conservatism is completely coincidential. Bush gave up the War on Terror in 2004 and instead has been conducting the Police Action on Terror. Ignoring the intervention by Syria and Iran, Putting a overboard priority on "civilians" over eliminating the enemy, and Vietnam like rules of engagement.
Bush has run the occupation like any good Democrat or UN action would.
Go Big (including stopping Iran's and Syria's intervention) or Go Home.

Steyn is great, clever, fun to read. He's actually been outside the Green Zone, unlike most of the chattering class and MSM reporters.
I wish we could get David Gregory over to Anbar Province.
