Pelosi's position as Speaker of the House is really going to her head. If she keeps this up, soon her aides will have to grease the sides of her head just to get her through the doors of the House.
A new Congress convenes today with a narrow Democratic majority lording over a despondent Republican minority.
While the full weight of Republicans' powerlessness sinks in after 12 years of control, Democrats are celebrating the historic election today of the first female speaker of the House."We have waited over 200 years for this time to come," Mrs. Pelosi said on the eve of her selection as speaker, a position that makes her second in line to the presidency after Vice President Dick Cheney.
"We will not just break through a glass ceiling, we will break through a marble ceiling," she said. "In more than 200 years of history, there was an established pecking order -- and I cut in line."
After calling herself "the most powerful woman in America," Mrs. Pelosi flexed her right muscle like a weight lifter to much applause at an event yesterday titled a "women's tea."
"All right, let's hear it for the power," she screamed as the jubilant applause continued.
Wow. That's really Obnoxious. Humility is far more attractive than arrogance, something she has yet to learn. It would also be smart for her to remember that the American voters put her in this position, and they can take it away from her. Let's pray that's the case two years from now.
And as USMC Pilot correctly reminded me, her own Democratic party could remove her from the office of Speaker sooner than two years if they become tired of her obnoxious attitude.
Update: Surprisingly, Andrea Mitchell thinks Pelosi's attitude is unseemly as well. Here's Andrea's question
Are you happy with this big celebration that Nancy Pelosi has planned for herself? Is it a bit unseemly to have Stevie Wonder and Tony Bennett and the dinners and the lunches and the brunches and the trip to Baltimore to rename the street in honor of her. Isn't this a little bit too imperial?
I'd say that comment must have smarted, but I don't think Nancy is feeling any pain right now.
Watch the video of Andrea's question here.

Going to slightly disagree here. Well, not so much as disagree as say it doesn't really matter.
Arrogance and obnoxiousness are traits of politicians as is love of power. We should not be surprised.
An expression of phony humility, to me, is worse than being honest about their obnoxious, power hungry ways.
The comments above apply to politicans regardless of party affiliation.

Your comment is well taken. However, where as most politicians are smart enough to conceal those traits, Nancy Pelosi is standing on a soap box screaming them to the world. There is a reason that most politicians use the "expression of phony humility" route. It at least keeps them from looking realy stupid. Pelosi's mouth is starting to set her up as thinking she is "Queen of America", and about to disband parliment.

Why is it that when people do not have a cogent argument to make, or a valid criticism, they automatically turn to the "humility card"?
It seems to me that there are two types of humility. There is the equalitarian or leveling humility of those who think that no one should be in a position of power over them; and, so, they try to pull down anyone who has an ounce of confidence or assertiveness in our society. This is the attempt to establish a general false humility so that everyone will feel better.
Of course, respect and civility are different than humility. I personally think most people deserve respect and civility--that is until they lose it through their own actions. This is not, however, humility.
The second type of humility, which is true humility, is the kind that recognizes that there are others who are better at certain things than we are, or more worthy of respect and admiration than we are.
If you believe in God, then you should of necessity be humble before God since he/she is after all the all-knowing, all-powerful being of the universe. That does not mean that you owe humility to your fellow man--at least not until he/she has earned it.
So, let's stop all this talk of humility and instead demand that Pelosi and her party live up to the promises they have made. When they fail, as all politicians do when they abandon negotiation and compromise, there will be plenty of humble pie for everyone.

This is not a big deal, not only for the reasons previously mentioned, but also because the MSM has her back. I suspect that in next two years, there will be a number of stories like this, and the more conservatives huff and puff and get red in the face over them, the more they will be ignored by the MSM.
Of course, if this were Newt Gingrich or any other Republican Speaker, stories like this would be getting above-the-fold coverage all day, every day, 24/7.
The only remedy is defeating the Democrats electorally, but it remains to be seen whether the GOP will get its act together enough to make this happen. Personally, I'm not hopeful.

Nancy Pelosi's stint as House Speaker will (mercifully) be a brief one. First of all, she reckons without the U.S. Senate at her peril. She and her arrogant minions can blather all they want, but the bottom line is that anything they pass then has to go to the Senate where the majority is only 1 and Senator Joe Lieberman is definitely the wild card in THAT equation. So they can waste their first 100 hours passing whateverinhell they want - the chances of it getting by the Senate are slender at best. And the failure of their feverish agenda will make them look as ridiculous as their behavior already does.
Second, should Speaker Pelosi show signs of harming La Clinton's presidential campaign, she will be summarily dealt with as only Hillary Rodham Clinton and her cabal can do!
Third - by the end of the 2 year Democratic House majority - the American people will be so disgusted with the Dems if they continue their present behavior that they will reverse the majority in record time. Do they honestly think that permitting that humbug Charlie Rangel to evict the Vice President of the United States from his office is calculated to endear them to any but the most deranged among them?
