War protester and Today show host Meredith Vieira referred to Chuck Hagel in an interview with Laura Bush today as a "conservative" Senator who had been a longtime supporter of her husband. She then asked if the President felt betrayed by Hagel's opposition to the surge. I know Vieira is hopelessly biased by her personal views, but is she really that ignorant of Chuck Hagel's history? Chuck Hagel was calling Iraq Vietnam back in the days when many Democrats were still in support of the mission there.

Lorie, I noticed that, too! When Vieira asked Mrs. Bush her question about Chuck Hagel, I said out loud to the TV, "Hagel's a conservative supporter of President Bush? On Iraq?!"

Laura Bush never departs from her gracious self when confronted and insulted by these leftist enemies of her husband and our President.
She is a remarkable public figure.

Chuck Hagel is extremely conservative. In fact, his conservative score in 2005 was 96%! That's one of the highest in the entire Senate!

But don't let facts get in the way of a good bash Lorie.

Lorie & Kim
Hagel is a conservative in the classic Goldwater sense.
It is the 2 of you who are so far out of sync w/ Conservatism that you wouldn't recognize one unless they goose-stepped.
And to Lorie's reference to Viera's alleged bias, you are a ridiculous woman.
Unless someone sucks the Fox News tit, you see them as biased. What the hell are you. In spite of your "Pork" post later, you are about as biased as any human could ever be.
Lorie, to you, "bias" is someone who doesn't spout right wing extremist TP's.
When I grew up, people like you were mainly confined to the fringes in something like the John Birch Society.

I think Lorie's point may be that Hagel is not a conservative Bush supporter. While Hagel is indeed a conservative -- even more conservative than Bush in some regards, from what I've read Hagel has never been a Bush supporter.
Well, wait a minute, perhaps I was giving Lorie too much credit. She did write this: "Vieira referred to Chuck Hagel in an interview with Laura Bush today as a "conservative" Senator who had been a longtime supporter of her husband." -- the quotes around "conservative" were hers, hmm.
Maybe Lorie assumes that anyone who doesn't support the President is not a "conservative"?
Or maybe Lorie is just ignorant of the fact that Hagel is indeed quite conservative?
What's clear is that she couldn't pass up an attempt to point out Viera's "ignorant" mistake by making a biased, ignorant mistake of her own. Lol!
