Another Misstep for Edwards

Recently I wrote about why I see John Edwards' new monster mansion as a political liability and questioned Edwards' political instincts if he does not recognize it as such. Now I am questioning whether or not his political liability radar is working at all. I should not be surprised to see Amanda Marcotte associated with the Edwards campaign considering the fact that Elizabeth Edwards confessed to being a reader of the Democratic Underground during the 2004 election, but I was anyway.

Michelle Malkin has an extensive post about Marcotte's writing at Pandagon. I don't read Pandagon, but Marcotte evidently read me (at least once anyway). I got off pretty easy though. I only got called stupid and had the "f-bomb" dropped once in her post linking me. My fellow North Carolinian Nathan Tabor must be doing a better job than I am because he got it with both barrels. Dan Riehl linked to this post and a quite a few others that I can't imagine Edwards would be proud to be associated with his campaign. Why would Edwards hire someone who eschews civil political debate in favor of potty mouth rants? If his campaign did a simple Google search, or if they are only vaguely familiar with Pandagon, they have to be aware of that.

By the way, I use more profanity than I should myself, I frequent some bleep-worthy sites, and I think South Park, Carlos Mencia and some other comedians that employ the use of profanity are pure genious. (Heck, I married a Marine and learned all kinds of colorful phrases from him.) There is a difference, though, between laughing at a comedian or saying something you pray the kids didn't overhear in traffic, and hiring someone known for profanity-laced blog posts to be a representative of a major presidential campaign. What the heck is he thinking?

The two remaining best contenders are Edwards and Obama who have both left the blocks in a stumble I think it is fair to say. Biden too.

Not a single, positive "Here is who we Republicans are and what we stand for" post among the list, judging from my quick scan of her blog headlines. Just hit piece after hit piece on Democrats. Priestap isn't any differnt.

Conservative bloggers are definitely are on the defensive. They aren't saying a single thing about their candidates -- they just keep pushing their platform of hate and sliming lies against the Democrats and the MSM. It kind of makes sense -- when your mentors and role models are Michelle Malkkkin and Anne "don't you just hate liberals" Coulter, it shouldn't be a surprise that all this never-ending stream of vile bile for their fellow Americans should spew forth from conservative bloggers.

Lorie Byrd:

Geez, I volunteer for a school project in my first grader's class this morning and miss all these posts attacking me for writing about nothing but Democrats and ignoring Iraq. What? Does "maggiesturn" even read Wizbang? I just breezed back through the posts and counted at least 14 in the past 10 days written on the topic of Iraq. Considering I rarely blog much at all over the weekend, and that my blogging has been really slow lately due to family stuff, that is not exactly what I would call ignoring Iraq. Next time you decide to throw around accusations, maybe taking 30 seconds or so to scan the past week or two of posts would be helpful.

As for the attacks on "byrd brain" and the like, I am completely clueless as to why anyone who felt that way would read and comment here. Life is too short. Sorry, but I just don't get it. I don't read Pandagon or Kos or DU unless someone points me to something there because I find little of value at those sites. If someone thinks my blogging or that of others here is of no value, then I just don't quite understand why they would spend a significant amount of time on it. Different strokes, I guess.

I have not written much about Republican candidates lately because I have not made a firm decision about who I will be supporting for 2008, but have written some on Giuliani and am leaning toward him. I write about what interests me. This is not a newspaper promising to report "all the news fit to print." It is a blog. That is short for weblog. That is an entirely different thing. We all have different topics that interest us and we have other jobs and obligations that make it impossible to write about every story everyday. I thought most everyone commenting here knew that already, but maybe not. There are new people being introduced to blogs everyday and when I first started reading them I didn't know exactly what they were either. There are many different blog formats, too. Since they are very individual things, there are as many different kinds of blogs as there are different kinds of people. That is one thing that makes them so great.

The failing health of many private medical practices in Hawai'i is driving physicians out of the state, leaving patients with fewer choices of doctors, longer waits for appointments and delayed care. [...]

Gov. Linda Lingle, in her State of the State address, called for malpractice tort reform to limit non-economic damages for pain and suffering and for other action to help the medical community.

Complaints about health insurance reimbursements that aren't keeping pace with rising costs and about skyrocketing malpractice premiums are heard across the country, but doctors here say conditions in Hawai'i are particularly hostile to the business of medicine, and many are deciding it's just not worth it anymore.

The physician-owned Medical Insurance Exchange of California, which insures more than 1,100 Hawai'i physicians and related entities, reports that although there were no overall rate increases in the past two renewal periods, rates increased 58 percent from 2002 to 2005.

MIEC also said that more than 86 percent of claims filed against its insured doctors in Hawai'i are ultimately found to be without merit and result in no payment to the claimant.
