Cross examination of Tim Russert during the Libby trial revealed some interesting (and troubling for Russert) information.
In sum, Wells established that (a) the FBI report of his conversations (they say he had two, he only recalls one) made far closer in time to the event indicate he conceded that Ms. Wilson's name may have come up in their conversation though he earlier discounted that as "impossible" (b) In a heated matter involving the Buffalo News, his own memory was faulty. He'd made two angry calls to a critical reporter, denied that he had, and then, after checking his phone records, apologized, asserting he had no memory whatsoever of the calls, and (c) while making an impassioned plea for the right of reporters to protect the confidentiality of sources, he'd already twice discussed the Libby exchanges with the FBI and failed to disclose that to the Court or the public.Read all of Clarice Feldman's report, which includes details of the testimony, at The American Thinker. Link via Lucianne. From a filing by the prosecutor last evening trying to block inquiry into the accommodations made to Russert for his (total of 22 minutes) deposition testimony in his lawyer's offices, it appears that while this last point was not specifically noted in any pleadings I can see, the defense was provided with the FBI notes which provided some notice to them of the discrepancies in the NBC public pleading and that it contained a false suggestion that Russert had not already cooperated with the government. It is not clear that this Court, or the Court which determined the related case on the reporters' obligation to testify, was ever informed that the Russert filing was false.
Update: If not for Clarice Feldman, Tom Maguire, and some conservative (and even some liberal) bloggers Bob Cox was able to get credentialed, we might not know what was really going on in the Libby trial. We certainly would not know if we were only reading the Washington Post.
Update II: Here is an AP story that reports some of the problems with Russert's testimony.

I hope the prosecution all got some milk of magnesia in their Fitzmas stockings.

Timmy's huffing and puffing about preserving 'confidentiality' has been proven to be nothing but stale hot air.
He was willing to violate any confidentiality to 'get' Libby, but then lied about the conversations when he made legally-binding statements to the court.
Since not remembering conversations is considered to be 'perjury' in the eyes of Fitzgerald, when will Russert be brought up on charges of lying about his statements to the FBI?

About (a): Russert insisted the words in the FBI report, i.e. "may have come up" are not his. Instead, the agent was paraphrasing, badly. We'll see if the defense calls the agent involved to the stand. Regardless, every witness with firsthand knowledge of Plame/Wilson, got that knowledge from Scooter instead of vice versa as Scooter's alibi requires and how he had testified to the grand jury.

I look forward to Kim updating and bumping her Pelosi smear campaign to make this correction.
and the bloggers were warned by Edwards' office to not run with the story they thought they had on the firing -- but no, let's now wait for the facts - that's soooo "MSM" - let's jump in and lie and smear -- and by the time the truth comes out the damage is done.
So glad Jo took the opportunity to take this thread off-topic -- it's unlikely the correction and truth would be read here otherwise.

"What if Mary had taken Plan B after the Lord filled her with his hot, white, sticky Holy Spirit?"
And then says:
"My intention is never to offend anyone for his or her personal beliefs, and I am sorry if anyone was personally offended by writings meant only as criticisms of public politics." (my emphasis).
So shorter Marcotte is:
"fuck you, Christofascists. I can say anything I want, and if you don't like it, you're a fascist. Suck God's thick hairy cock, wingnuts!"
And you people are glad Silky Pony is keeping her and McEwen?

Second, if the Breck Girl (love that nickname) were to win the Democratic primary, I wouldn't vote for him, so I'm hoping he won't be the candidate on the left. Nogo,
Let me try to explain slowly again. Let me use an example: just wrt the Iraq war, the majority of the Reps in the Senate were for victory in Iraq (there are a minority who wants to cut and run). On the other hand, the majority of Dems are for defeat (or cut and run) in Iraq. You have one exception in Lieberman. So picking Hagel as your poster Rep child on the war in Iraq is definitely not representative. And that 's what I call propaganda from the liberal MSM.
The same with religious issues. Obviously not all Reps are on the same page with the religious folks. But the Dems as a whole are definitely anti-religious (esp the christian religion) folks. Just look at the actions of the liberal left and you can know. Citing a few known pro-choice Reps like Rudy doesn't make your arg. This is the perfection fallacy. Hope you get it this time.

Even Kerry dropped Wilson as an foreign policy advisor. Only the liberals who are still in the liberal sewage wouldn't know this. Now Pelosi is in full mode to exempt her connected SF based company from the minimum wage increase. Liberals will continue to defend the liar Wilson, his wife, and Pelosi.
Puke is a prime example of this sewage given his contentless posts. Note that Puke couldn't refute any point in my post. Puke hated Diem that much, so it means he has been a supporter of the evil communists. That shouldn't be a surprise given his liberal background. So Puke is a communist puppet from now on.

Wilson's lie was under oath when he told the grand jury the first he heard about Wilson's wife was from Russert...
The transcript clearly shows this was not the case..
