Democrat: Bring Guantanamo Detainees to the US

What a stunningly bad idea. James D. Moran (D-VA) wants to bring the worst, most dangerous terrorists this world has ever known, whose goals are to kill as many Americans as possible, to America. Some of these detainees are still in Gitmo because they are so dangerous that their own countries don't want them back. Yet, Moran thinks it would be a great idea to hold the Gitmo detainees in Quantico:

A Virginia Democrat seeking to close the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, would favor bringing detainees to secure East Coast locations, including Quantico Marine Corps Base.

Rep. James P. Moran, D-8th, said yesterday that he favors bringing Guantanamo detainees who have been charged with offenses to military brigs in the jurisdiction of the Richmond-based 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

"That's the most conservative circuit court" in the nation, said Moran, a senior member of the House defense appropriations subcommittee. "So nobody can charge [the detainees] won't get a speedy and disciplined trial."

The ideas he floated provoked attacks from Virginia Reps. Eric I. Cantor, R-7th, the chief deputy GOP whip, and Jo Ann Davis, R-1st, whose district includes Quantico.

Virginians are not happy with Moran's idea, either, and I don't blame them one bit:

However, some residents near Quantico were taken aback by the possibility. "Nobody wants that kind of stuff here. Would you? Leave them where they are," said John Rogojan of Stafford County. His home along state Route 610 in northern Stafford is across the road from the Marine base's border,. The base includes land in Stafford and neighboring Prince William County.

It doesn't matter how secure Quantico is.The whole concept of having terrorists like those at Guantanamo who want to murder Americans on a massive scale here in our country is scary and dangerous.

House Republican Eric Cantor responded to Moran's idea:

"Virginians neither want nor need hundreds of terrorists with connections to 9/11 groups like al-Qaida in our commonwealth," Cantor said.

"This shocking lack of judgment demonstrates that liberal Democrats do not understand that these terrorists want to kill Americans and destroy our way of life. These dangerous, terrible people should not be allowed into our country."

He's absolutely right. Not only do the the Democrats not understand the terrorism threat, but I really question if they believe there is a terrorism threat.

Congressman Moran is on Fox and Friends now and is explaining how important it is to provide these evil, murderous terrorists due process. That's really his biggest concern? He thinks providing these terrorists due process is more important than protecting Americans from these terrorists by keeping them out of this country? He also said the jihadists use Guantanamo as a recruiting tool, but that's complete bunk. There weren't any Islamic terrorists in Guantanamo prior to 9/11, yet Khalid Sheik Muhammad had no problem recruiting hijackers for the 9/11 attacks. Nor were there any terrorists in Guantanamo when terrorists struck World Trade Center the first time. Or when they attacked our embassies in Africa. Or when they struck the USS Cole.

Kim,

This is the "compassionate-liberal-mindset" that will always want to embrace our enemies with love and understanding, but with the "not in my backyard" meantality. Suggest that the state of Virginia build a super-max prison in their state and house and process these fellers that would love to slit your throat-----and then listen to the hypocrisy at it's finest.

This is similar to the question of where to bury nuclear waste........

Right, right; 9 in 10 Guantánamo detainees were turned over to Coalition forces by an Afghan or Pakistani citizen, but you can trust them can't you? Don't you always trust the word of unnamed Islamic persons in the undeveloped world?

Of course you do; whenever some Afghan tribesman says anything, you're always there to affirm the truth of that statement -- aren't you? The same with Pakistanis; whenever some AK-47-carrying Pakistani makes some kind of claim somewhere, you're always ready to affirm the truth of their statements. In either case, you don't need to examine their motives, look at who they're connected with, find out who they might conceivably want to frame, etc. And who, after all, needs courts, the rule of law and all that?

Not you people. Heck, the Bush administration has been operating outside the law for years. Yeah, I'm sure that you, at least, are 100 percent sure of the guilt of all those detainess -- just as you were when they were placed there, agreed?

And 57 have since been released, 70 remain. Now why would they release 57 obviously guilty people? You should really follow up on that, Kim. You knew they were guilty then, didn't you?

God knows you people can't think; show me that you know how to do basic math.

So how many of those remaining 70 detainees are guilty, guilty, guilty, just as you were sure to the point of shredding our constitution that the other 57 detainees were guilty, guilty, guilty, hmm? As we, in America, would define guilt?

Because in our country, guilt is determined by a legal process that includes open trials and judicial review; it's in our constitution; it's who we, the American people, are in this world.

So: do you live in my country, or are you writing this from Saudi Arabia?

You don't even have to answer. Salaam-Alaikum, Kim. And don't go out without your burkha.

Just what is so scary about detaining these guys here on our soil? They'll be in jail cells, right? No one's talking about letting these guys roam at the local malls. Is it fear or reprisals from terrorist organizations whose members will be detained here? Are they more likely to commit terror here is their boys are on US soil instead of Gitmo. I think they'll hate us just the same. Someone please explain.

I just can't believe the state of fear that conservatives live in every day. How do you muster up the courage to leave your house every day?

It is complete "bunk" but Democrats rely on the gullible nature of their constituency, specifically the lefty moonbat fringe to blindly go along.

True believing lefties hate, and I mean HATE to be reminded that throughout the 1990's, while a Democrat occupied the White House, jihadists used the "actions of and supported by Democrats" as a recruitment tool to attack Americans.

And specifically those actions against "IRAQ", as the OBL fatwa below points out.

If some people have in the past argued about the fact of the occupation, all the people of the Peninsula have now acknowledged it. The best proof of this is the Americans' continuing aggression against the Iraqi people using the Peninsula as a staging post, even though all its rulers are against their territories being used to that end, but they are helpless.
Second, despite the great devastation inflicted on the Iraqi people by the crusader-Zionist alliance, and despite the huge number of those killed, which has exceeded 1 million... despite all this, the Americans are once against trying to repeat the horrific massacres, as though they are not content with the protracted blockade imposed after the ferocious war or the fragmentation and devastation.

On that basis, and in compliance with God's order, we issue the following fatwa to all Muslims

The ruling to kill the Americans and their allies--civilians and military--is an individual duty for every Muslim who can do it in any country in which it is possible to do it, in order to liberate the al-Aqsa Mosque and the holy mosque from their grip, and in order for their armies to move out of all the lands of Islam, defeated and unable to threaten any Muslim. This is in accordance with the words of Almighty God, "and fight the pagans all together as they fight you all together," and "fight them until there is no more tumult or oppression, and there prevail justice and faith in God."
We -- with God's help -- call on every Muslim who believes in God and wishes to be rewarded to comply with God's order to kill the Americans and plunder their money wherever and whenever they find it. We also call on Muslim ulema, leaders, youths, and soldiers to launch the raid on Satan's U.S. troops and the devil's supporters allying with them, and to displace those who are behind them so that they may learn a lesson

Why would Democrats continue to support those attacks on the sovereign state of Iraq knowing full well that country was never a threat to the United States? (Despite all the threats of revenge from Saddam)

After all Democrats tell us NOW they knew all along that Saddam was contained and had absolutely no means in which to seek revenge for the Democratic Party supported attacks on Iraq.

Let's face it lefties, we all know damn well the Democrats were stirring up the hornets nest yet now you want us to believe this is all attributed to President Bush and Republicans.

When your leaders play the "I was duped" card it makes them look worthless and weak....and dumb. And the fact that true blue lefties believe their leaders makes them even bigger dupes.

Oh yeah right. It's much better to have these terrorists in a small enclave that is surrounded by an implacably hostile communist country that is on the State Department's list of state sponsors of terror. I'm sure if any of these terrorists managed to escape they wouldn't find any sympathizers in communist Cuba. Just think about how dumb this is for a minute.

We would be much better off to have these prisoners in central Kansas where if they somehow managed to escape they would have thousands of miles of US territory to traverse before they escape.

Obviously, you people are unaware that we have many terrorists in prison right now in the US including Ohmar Abdel Rahman, Ahmed Ressam, Zacarias Moussaoui, Ramzi Yousef, Mohammad Salameh, Nidal Ayyad, Mahmud Abouhalima, Ahmad Ajaj and others. Each one of those was tried and convicted in our courts. We shouldn't be afraid to do the same with the terrorists in Guantanamo. It's time to come out of the bunkers, stop living in fear, try and convict these bastards and put them away for life.

Funny how this asshat doesn't remember the riots caused by disenchanted Cuban Marielitos.

For those of you who don't recall, in 1984 Fidel Castro opened up the Cuban port at Mariel, and told everyone who wanted to leave to, essentially, 'get out while the getting's good.' Not only were political dissendents allowed to leave, but Fidel opened the doors of the prisons and institutions for the criminally insane. Those who weren't jailbirds or violently mentally ill were allowed to stay in the U.S., but the doors that had been opened by Castro closed as soon as the boats left Mariel, and we had to incarcerate those unwanted guests who couldn't be sent back to Cuba.

Need I tell you that riots ensued (in Louisiana and Georgia) and that these same people had to be housed in Level 4 prisons on 23-hour lockdown? Need I also tell you how expensive this has been?

Let's face it: Guantanamo is cost efficient, legal and the conditions are probably superior to where these detainees will be housed once in the U.S.

When that time comes (and I do believe Guantanamo will be closed as a political statement), I will enjoy hearing the Dems aexplain why they are spending ten times the amount of money to house these detainees in the U.S. than they did in Cuba. I also eagerly await their excuses when the burden of this "humanitarian gesture" is to
be shared by the municipalities in which these detainees are imprisoned, and how there is now less money to go to those the Dems traditionally champion: the entitlement class.

Oh, yeah. This, like many other noble gestures by the Dems, has no chance of blowing up in their faces. After all, there's no precedent of any kind.
