Give Dumb a Chance

Head on over to Confederate Yankee and check out the picture of the display anti-war protesters created. It's pretty funny on the one hand, but on the other hand, it's scary to think these folks actually vote.

After that take a look at how leftists support our troops at LGF.

War protesters are not the only group that hates the troops. So do Christians:

Church members carried signs bearing mottoes like "Thank God for Dead Soldiers," "You will eat your children," and "Soldiers Die, God Laughs."

The group from the Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka plans to demonstrate 45 minutes prior to the funeral in order to show that their deaths are God's punishment for a "filthy" nation that has disobeyed "His will," said Shirley Phelps-Roper, a member of the church

Phelps and his crowd do not speak for all of Christianity. He's a complete and total loon who takes Scripture out of context to promote his whacked out views. His "Baptist" church isn't recognized by any association of Baptist churches that I know of, and many "conservative" Christian groups have come out strongly against him and his views.

Christians don't hate our troops. Get the facts straight, Barney.

Instead of defending fuckwads protesters who burned effigies of soliders and carry signs that say "fuck the troops" with an irrelevant and unfounded deflection into the WBC, man up and condenm them for doing something so putrid, insensitve and devoid of any thought as what they've done.

As someone that has marched in protests before and after the invasion, I take offense to blanket statements that associate the actions of the few to the majority.

The exception that I see is that Christians (with the exception of a minority i.e. Episcopalians), including Gen Pace, believe that homosexuality is an abomination, and Gays will burn in hell.

If I am wrong about this, I will be happy to change my view.

So let me get this straight Barney.

It o.k. for you to characterize all Christians by using the example of Phelps because most Christians (in your opinion) beleive homosexuallity to be a sin; while it's wrong for Kim to characterize all anti-war protestors using the examples she cited above even though moat anti-war lefties including yourself say pretty much the same things: illegal, immoral, war for oil, Bush lied, quagmire, civil war, can't be won, etc.?

I've been to these so-calle... (Below threshold)
Squeaken:

I've been to these so-called peace protests and found a completely different animal than what Barney describes. From my experience I would wager the majority of these people absolutely hate our soldiers and wish death upon them every day because it serves the cause.

It is a leftist tactic to pretend to support the troops while hoping they fail in their mission. Only a liberal could rectify two opposing thoughts in this manner.

This sprung out when the peace movement was not gaining traction in the early to mid sixties by simply protesting the war because the reason we were there(defending S. Vietnam against communist aggression) was still noble.

It was not until they started to pretend to be concerned for our soldiers that they gained momentum and they are using those lessons now.

Every once in a while they will screw up and show their true colors like what we saw in Portland and you can bet there were liberals there telling them to "cool it". Not because it was wrong but because they didn't want the rest of us to see their true faces.

Just like in those illegal alien protests with all the mexican flags and pics of Che Guevera all over that mysteriously disappeared when the organizers learned it wasn't helping the cause.

I do not know a single liberal who will not do anything to advance liberalism....whether it be lie, cheat or steal. I would not trust them with my children, pets or property because they put their own self gratification above everything else

We are dealing with people who have been led to think that this country is evil when it acts to preserve itself..whether that be deal with potential enemies abroad or within.

Ask yourself this.....what have liberals been right about?

We know communism was a failure....they claimed it was the way things should be.

They've fucked up our schools, our welfare, our judiciary, our legal system, our unions.

Our military still functions because most libs do not want to do the heavy lifting. Same for the police and fire departments. Sure there are some liberals there but they usually aim for more controlling positions such as union leadership and are few and far between in the rank and file.

I used to work for a utility company and saw a huge majority of republican identifiers in the parking lots for field employees and just the opposite for the office workers.
