the Edwarsd will once again have to find this monster
Thanks for the reminder to pray for the Edwards family. There is an uphill battle ahead for them, but God is good and He is sovereign. And, as I'm sure you know, He is a great comfort in our times of need.
Just a small revision suggestion: I think they want to fight the monster.

Amen.
My continued prayers for the Edwards, and for you as well, sir.

It cannot be denied there is a certain element of "luck" in it, but it should also be noted that many forms of cancer - and other serious diseases - which are now treatable or even curable, were a certain sentence of death not so long ago.
A lot of the luck involved is being born in the USA, home of the finest health care in the world. We should remember that when some people propose taking control of our health care out of the private sector and putting it in the hands of the people who gave us the (old) Post Office, Amtrak, and Fannie Mae.

We would have no compassion if we didn't feel the pain that the Edwards' family is going through. I remember some negative comments that Elizabeth made during the 2004 campaign and I haven't been a big fan of hers since. But I have to admire her courage and her support of John's political ambitions. I wish her well.

On further reflection, it is odd that Mr. Edwards has not figured out the severity of what is about to occur to his wife--I say that because I can't imagine trying to run a Prez campaign while my wife battles a progressive and incurable cancer.
The chemo will be horrendous, and she'll need support. Will he be around when she needs it?
If it were me, I'm home with my gal. Nothing more important than that.

John and Elizabeth Edwards have always appeared to have a strong relationship, so it is likely that his continuing with his campaign is at her insistence. She is a formidable woman, and I wish her, John, and their family all the best.
Still doesn't mean I'll vote for him, but theres a difference between politics and personal. People need to keep that in mind, and it appears most are.

IF, that is, you have access to the best health care in the world by having health insurance or the private funds to pay for the best health care in the world. Johb and Elizabeth Edwards have both -- and unlike people like you, they believe that all Americans should have access to quality health care, even if they do not happen to be insured through an employer, or have a personal fortune that enables them to buy the best health care in the world.

Well, first of all, if I'm uninsured and cannot afford healthcare, you pay for that anyway. But more to the point being discussed here, if you don't want some type of national health insurance, then you would have to acknowledge that it's irrelevant and meaningless to say that the U.S. has the finest health care in the world, because that doesn't do anyone any good if they can't afford it.

You are absolutely right, Dave. I should have said, "More to the point Jim Addison raised (above)." I appreciate the correction.
Kathy is the only one who did not wish Elizabeth Edwards good wishes. That is pretty telling about who has compassion and who doesn't.
Good point, COgirl. If you click the link to my name, you will see a post on that. My compassion is implied, rather than stated outright, but I'm sure you would have realized I wished them well if you had had an opportunity to read my post.
I can never wish John and Elizabeth Edwards well too many timnes, though, and since I did not state it outright before, I will now. Elizabeth Edwards appears to be a wonderful woman who is strong and personally resourceful as well as compassionate herself. I admire her (and her husband) more than I can say for running a campaign based on making sure no one in this country has to worry about being able to afford medical care after a diagnosis like the one Elizabeth Edwards is facing.
They are both fine people.
