Our government wouldn't give him a visa. Good decision.
UNITED NATIONS (AP) - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has canceled his trip to New York to address the U.N. Security Council before a vote on whether to impose further sanctions against his country for refusing to stop enriching uranium, the Foreign Ministry spokesman said Friday.
Mohammed Ali Hosseini, the spokesman, told Iranian state television that the trip was scrapped because of "America's obstruction in issuing visas" to the Iranian delegation that was to travel to New York.A diplomat on the Security Council said Ahmadinejad would instead send his deputy foreign minister Saturday to address the Security Council before the vote. The diplomat spoke on condition of anonymity because there had not been an official announcement.
Mohammad Mir Ali Mohammadi, press secretary of Iran's mission at the U.N., told The Associated Press the U.S. did not deliver a visa to the U.S. Embassy in Bern, Switzerland, in time for the Iranian president to pick it up before for the council session Saturday.
He said Russia and China were trying to postpone the session until Monday and if the session was put off Ahamdinejad would decide whether to come.
Typical. Russia and China rush to the rescue of a despot dictator. I guess dictators feel the need to stick together.

I don't know what is going on but I doubt if is a simple visa problem.
Something is going on with the Russians. Maybe the dude needs a few days to get a payment in to the Russian mafia or something.
But you are so right, they are poking fingers in eyes. Sort of a strange strategy.

If the US wouldn't grant a visa to Ahmadinejad, it may have been to spare The Decider from "deciding" to hide again in the broom closet.

Somewhere, somehow, this comment might have some meaning for someone.

I say let him into our country. I didn't say to let him leave. A little waterboarding could be ordered up for him. Then we could deport him to Israel. No problem, just move on.

Drago! Who could ever forget arch-enemy 'Ugo Chavez coming to Gotham City and calling Bush "out"? Bush had just spoken to the same audience but he remembered he left the Bowflex plugged in, so he jumped in the Batmobile and made tracks.
Even the local Mexicans (who think Bush is otherwise GREAT!) STILL go on and on and on about that one. I can't remember the word they used, but it had to do with him being a part of someone else's breakfast. Usually applied to a woman, I think.

Nancy Pelosi was going to call him in to address the DNC.
They really wanted to hear what is really going on in the Middle East.
You know, I have heard that Bush Lies.

I'll bet Ahmadinejad finally realized that concatenation of the reasons and the opportunity for offing him were just to compelling.

Well, he's not going to get anywhere in an international sense when his country is holding 15 British soldiers. That's about the stupidest thing that *whoever* is in charge in Iran could be doing (I know Ahmadinejad isn't exactly in charge).
I'm just hoping that the people of Iran will back away from supporting this guy and find someone else to represent them on the international stage. For a while there it did seem like he was losing support, but I'm not sure how things are in Iran at present.
