Michelle Malkin posted a link to this report on a NYT correction:
The New York Times published a lengthy editor's note yesterday. Actually, it published two of them; both are on this site today. This one involves a former naval construction worker who told the Times magazine that she served in Iraq, was in a Humvee that blew up, and was raped twice while serving in the Navy.In fact, she never served in Iraq and a medal she received for service, which appeared to bolster her Iraq story, was awarded in error. The larger issue seems to be that the Navy wasn't able to come up with the correct information about her prior to publication. But were they given enough time? The editor's note says a "researcher" (fact checker) contacted the Navy "three days before the story went to press." Not exactly a lot of time to gather and evaluate the information, especially if some discrepancies emerge, which they did.
Update: When I read the story of Amorita Randall I remembered another case that I blogged about a while back, but could not remember the name of the person making the claims and therefore was unable to find the story. When I finally quit trying to remember the name it came to me -- Aidan Delgado. Michelle listed several other names in her post, as well. Here is what I don't understand, if there are as many disillusioned members of the military who have witnessed U.S. atrocities as those on the Left want us to believe, then why do they have to keep making up additional ones? Some bad stuff really did happen at Abu Ghraib and other places. Why is it necessary to invent flushed Korans and fantasy abuses? Can't they just be satisfied talking about the authentic bad news?

Reminds me of that whole Katrina victim profile they did about a woman who was doing the whole I'm a victim, and the government won't help dance, and then it turns out that she was wanted on past welfare fraud, etc. and lived nowhere near the Katrina area.
The only people the NYT suck up to are people who tell a story they totally agree with and which furthers their agenda.

Well, it just doesn't matter who Amorita Randall is or what the facts are because we all know that Bush intended to send her over there to be killed and/or raped and that Cheney is likely one of the rapists (or wishes he was) and that at least one of the fired U.S Attorneys intended to investigate the whole thing. And don't get me started about what Rumsfeld and Gingrich have to do with this.
Come to think of it, she may have really been there as a covert soldier (think: Plame) or investigating nuclear facilities (think: Lyin' Joe Wilson). Hey, maybe the NYT is really on to something here. I'd better go back home to Kos and see what the real truth is.

Jo...Coot ....Good one......Now remember this...
Maybe just maybe, Pat Tillmans death wasn't really a death at all by friendly fire but he was actually a hero by the governments OWN reporting of it. A man who was said to have "fought bravely and honorably until his last breath." Even told his family that lie.
Tillman's superiors exaggerated his actions to burnish his legend in public, and suppressed details that might tarnish his commanders. Now at least nine of his commanders are going down. Typical neocon fashion (just like Walter Reed) lying about it until they get caught.
Of course we don't want those facts to be remembered by the public now do we? Not THOSE lies.
Or maybe the ones about Jessica Lynch. Wasn't she just the litte hero too?

Period.
If he had just arrived in theatre, caught a helicopter ride to a rear area, found a grenade (US made), was foolish enough to pick it up and have it blow off both legs and an arm, he still would be considered to have served "bravely and honorably."
