A new episode of "24" airs at 9 p.m. EDT on Fox. Dave Barry didn't watch last week, but got up to speed by reading comments and wondered the same thing I did about Gredenko and in answer to his question, no, they did not try to make it seem even remotely plausible. My question is why the entire arm? Anyone have an answer to that?
Update: Someone answers my arm question in the comments and (spoiler alert) it's true -- she's back.
I also didn't get that, especially in light of Gredenko ratting out Fayed in the bar. Presumably Gredenko tells Fayed of the tracking device because he has no intention of helping Jack get Fayed and because he views the device as an impediment to them getting away. So, having cut off his arm in order to avoid detection, he then proceeds to give up Fayed, even though he knows he needs medical attention and that Fayed's truck is his only way out of the area?
As bad as that was, it wasn't the only thing that didn't make sense last week.... or, for that matter, during the whole day. For instance, Gredenko gives the missiles to Fayed so Fayed could... bring the missiles back to Gredenko for Gredenko to launch on drones that Gredenko has obtained?
And yes, I know one needs to suspend reality a bit... but this year seems to require a bit more suspension than usual.

Hey, this episode is pretty good so far. Actually the best in a while. I liked the nuke fake out and then the Fayed rescue fake out. If they would let Chloe kick some butt this would be a real winner. That is, if they could can the stupid Milo jealousy subplot.

The radioactive marker was injected into the muscle tissue of the upper arm so that it can stay concentrated enough to track. Additionally, you can't just remove the middle part of the arm without losing the lower part. As much as Gredenko wanted to get away, he also did not want to be tracked. Hence, if he gives up Fayed, that diversion alone makes tracking him unnecessary and therby giving him a greater chance to survive and escape. If Gredenko stayed with Fayed, Fayed could then take the arming information, give him up and disappear himself.

Tonight was much more like the old days of 24. Lots of Jack threatening to torture, getting shot (okay, fake shot) and kicking terrorist butt. Wow, Fayed bought it in a pretty nasty way. Or is he still alive?
The bombs are secure, and Jack is all right. So what the heck are we going to do next week.
Pretty sure Fayed is dead.

First I think the Russian gave up Fayad because he wanted a distraction plus he knew the nuke plan was done and wanted to make sure the arab's took the blame.
The nuke fake out by Palmer was very good.
Even Doyle was impressed with Jack's carnage.
The best line was when Jack was getting ready to take Fayad back to CTU for the chemical interogation: "Now we are going to have fun."
I think Jack is dying this year. Too many internal injuries.
I believe Palmer is going to die also. About time, the only really far fetched storyline is him being president.
All things considered, it is a good season. ww

I enjoyed the episode, the rescue fake out, the nuke fake out and the rest, only needed more Chloe and less Milo and Nadia. I think last week, Grendenko told Fayed about the tracking device hoping to get away or he would help, Fayed decided the simple thing to do was just cut off the arm; Grendenko knew he was screwed and why he guided them toward the CTU agents and gave up Fayed in the bar.
Yes, Jack is back and he is still the man, takes out all the bad guys and recovers the bombs by himself. Best line this season "damn Jack". The problem is that Jack saved the day with nearly 8 hours left and now gets the chance to save Audrey. Shouldn't the Chinese believe jack is dead again, was giving up to Fayed. It was nice of the ChiComs to wait til Jack dealt with Nukes to call Jack and use Audrey.

I dunno.
100 guys with automatics against one guy with a .45 and he runs the rack.
Enjoyed Fayed getting the Saddam.
I know one thing for certain. I would not ever want to be on Jack's team. It's like being the fifth away team member for Kirk.
