I called the case officially dead 3 months ago. -- 48 hours later Nifong weasled out and it was downhill from there.
Now ABC says it's a done deal.
Duke Lacrosse Case Charges to Be DroppedApril 10, 2007 -- The office of North Carolina Attorney General Roy Cooper will announce that he is dismissing all charges against three Duke Lacrosse players, ABC News has learned from sources close to the case.
The three players, Reade Seligmann, David Evans and Collin Finnerty, were facing charges of first degree kidnapping and first degree forcible sexual offense. The charges stem from an off-campus party on the night of March 13, 2006.
In the hours after the party, one of two dancers hired to perform for the players claimed she had been violently raped in a bathroom by members of the lacrosse team. The players had also been indicted for first degree rape, but that charge was dismissed on Dec. 22, 2006.
Special prosecutors from the Attorney General's office took over the case after Durham District Attorney Mike Nifong recused himself in January, citing charges of unethical conduct filed against him by the North Carolina Bar. Since then, Jim Coman and Mary Winstead have examined the case from scratch, interviewing key witnesses and working through reams of evidence.
The reasons that will be cited for the dismissal are not yet known...
Of course the reasons are known. She lied about it and the weasel Nifong used the case for political gain. Now if Nifong is disbarred and removed from office, justice really will be served.

Let the billion dollar lawsuits begin. I hate lawsuits as much as anything in the world but in this case they are justified. It would be hard to take a baseball bat to all of the idiots involved. First on the list should be the racist new black panthers. Can I serve on the jury? Ten minutes including a coffee break.

Can you imagine how the national liberal media would have reacted to the dismissal of those charges if the three accused were black and the accuser had been white???
Oh, man, they'd be holding candlelight vigils as we speak, and the headlines would be in bright neon on every channel.
Anyways, I'd like to think the young space cadets who reflexively sided against those lacrosse players will learn an important lesson from this, but I doubt it.
As for Nifong, he's a parody of a political hack Democrat.

Naw, didn't think so.
And people like Al Roker are screaming about Imus. While making sexist and racist comments at least he didn't use race in an attempt to destroy someone else (and elevate himself). Come to think of it, Uncle Al's radio show would be the appropriate venue as he's quite experienced in this himself, what with Tawana Brawley and all.

It was ridiculous that it took this long to drop the case. The accuser told about a dozen different stories, Nifong bungled it badly and the DNA didn't match any of the accused. Really, why on earth did it take months to decide this was not a prosecutable case? Race, politics and national media attention -- a guaranteed recipe for disaster.

Not quite. What about the very considerable sums -- estimates are in the millions of dollars -- these students' families laid out in their defense? And what about the multitude of smears on their reputations they've endured, some of which might follow them to the grave?
A false accusation of this kind should visit the legal penalty the accused might have endured upon the accuser and all his confederates. Even that wouldn't be perfect justice, but it would be a good start toward it.

And I wonder if any of those who believed the accuser will show up in the comments today and admit they were wrong. I highly doubt it.
I also wonder if the accuser will get slapped with a perjury or a false accusation charge.

Duke University should fire all the professors who opened their mouths about this. All should be sued, and Jessie Jackson and et all should be included in the law suits. No settlement out of court with secretly BS attached.
And for the last, a public apology, on national TV, carried by all the networks, by Jackson et al. I would love to see and hear that!
