John Edwards has a Memorial Day message that many of the troops will definitely not appreciate. The Washington Post loved it though. Enough in fact that they directly linked it from their website -- free of charge. I wonder if the other candidates will get similar treatment. Here is Edwards' patriotic message.
Take Action May 26th, 27th, 28thLink via Newsbusters, who noticed a strange detail on the Washington Post donkey/elephant party graphic.
As citizens, we honor and support our troops for their service and sacrifice. As Americans, we are blessed by that sacrifice and support, which keeps us safe and keeps us strong.
As patriots, we call on our government to support our troops in the most important way it can - by ending this war and bringing them home.
This Memorial Day weekend, we will all take responsibility for the country we love and the men and women who protect it. We will volunteer, we will pray, and we will speak out. Each of us has a responsibility to act, a duty to our troops and to each other. Support the troops. End the war.
Update: Jack Army has a better idea of a way to celebrate Memorial Day this year.
Update II: Spree at Wake Up America has a great roundup of reaction, along with contact information for Edwards and Washington Post advertisers.

Yeah, and it's so obvious it takes them six sentences to describe it.
And I bet if you spin it really fast, it looks like dirty words in Mandarin.

There are two ways to end a war, brian. One is to win it. Which to you is out of the question. That would give Bush too much credit. The other is to quit fighting. That is one of the definitions of surrender. Ending a war means someone wins and someone loses. Are you suggesting we surrender to al Qaeda or Baathist insurgents. This is after a nation of nearly 300 million has lost less than 4000 volunteer troops, most of them not in battle but by criminal acts not combat? If so, I declare you anti-American.

As for the graphic:
"the rear end is ACTUALLY the face of the elephant?"
All I can see is the donkey . . .,
beautiful, strong, brave, steadfast, always loyal and true and yes, stubbornly honest. I see the donkey fighting for true Traditional American Values and Family.
The elephant in the picture seems to be nothing more than a HUGE parasite -- the "bottom feeders" of life (so to speak). The elephant seems to be saying "I'll do whatever benefits me personally the MOST no matter how bad it is for the world."
