Stupid Stupid Stupid House Republicans

I read the headline and I thought "What idiots."

I read the first two paragraphs and I thought "Oh, well that makes sense..."

Then I thought some more and concluded... They're idiots.

House Republican wants to restrict Pelosi's travel

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) will not be permitted to use State Department funds to travel to nations that are known to have sponsored terrorism if a Republican amendment to appropriations legislation passes the House on Thursday.

The amendment to the $34 billion State and Foreign Operations bill, offered by Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa), prohibits funds to be used to travel to Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan or Syria.

Did the House Republicans forget what happened to Pelosi's public opinion after her attempted de facto coup?

If the Republicans ever want to regain the House, it would be kinda cool to get as many pictures of Pelosi coddling terrorists as possible. Hell, I'll donate 20 bucks to send her to Iran to talk down Bush there. -- As long as we get video.

Republicans need to learn from James Carville's favorite line, "When your opponent is drowning, throw the son of a bitch an anvil."

Normally I wouldn't do this, but when calling a group of people idiots you can't say "their idiots" instead of the slightly more correct "they're idiots." :)

Though I do agree with your sentiment. The more inappropriate things our fine representatives do (on both sides, to be honest), the sooner we might be able to replace them.

A few points/questions:
1) The amendment Rep King wants added states (according to the article, don't know what the actual amendment states) that "House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) will not be permitted to use State Department funds to travel ...". Is the provision explicitly stated that way? Did she use State Dept. funds to travel the first time? If not, then this is definitely just posturing.

2) I'm fine with this as long as it applies to all Congressmen, Republicans and Democrats, Senators and Representatives, not just Speaker Pelosi. Let's not forget several other Congressmen also visited Syria just around the same time as Pelosi, so they should be consistent and apply it across the board instead of singling out one individual.

Of course, you're quite right, RN, but there's no reason to get excited about it. We really should be expressing pity for these clowns, since everybody recognizes that the only suspense in the 2008 elections is which Democrat is going to have the pleasure of kicking the Republicans' teeth right down their goddamn throats. You have to understand, this post represents the delusions of the "Republican base," who have nothing to do for the next year and a half but sit around in a circle and indulge themselves in political fanatsies while jerking each other off. Needless to say, they're fully aware there's not a chance in hell they'll get elected to do anything but clean up dogshit on the White House lawn. The scandals are just starting, and evidence will continue to pile up right until election day. Meanwhile, these half-wits will continue babbling about Nancy Pelosi "coddling terrorists" and invading armies of landscapers and grape pickers from Mexico. They are genuinely incapable of understanding that the vast majority of real Americans are indescribably disgusted by every one of the three, often overlapping, constituencies of the loathsome "base:" religious fanatics, nigger-haters, and neocon warmongers. Real Americans just wish every damn one of them would drop dead and fall off the face of the Earth.

Partisan Hack because I remind this blog to try to be a bit more balanced if he wants any credibility. After all every one knows the Republicans do the same.

And that makes me a partisan hack in your eyes!!! You have to be kidding. Where do you guys come from? Do you like have any common sence at all?

My point about Saddam dancing Lambda with Cheney is to remind you that you guys did not have a problem then, or with the countless Republican delegations talking to all the bad guys in the world . So you people sound rather hypocritical when you get angry ONLY at Pelosy.

Is it too much trouble for you guys to say something like ALL POLITICIANS should stop the practice of meeting with all these murderers? It would say to the world that you finally have grown up you know.... And in the process you might even regain some sence of credibility.

so you're saying that Pelosi attempted, in fact, to take over control of the US government? That wouldn't be a surprise given all the other things that republican's just make up...facts be damned!

Or perhaps you are irresponsible (or incompetent) with language? That wouldn't be a surprise given the average reading comprehension skills of republicans.

It must be awfully confusing to live in such an emotionally-driven, reality-free world.... oh wait, it's not confusing, it's simple! all complexities are instantly reduced to yes or no!

So that's why you see things the way you do! Your precious little minds can't handle the complexities of reality.

So...How was Pelosi's message significantly different than the Republicans who proceeded her? How come you have still not commented on the actions taken by those republicans?

And another question: Syria supports Hesbolah, which is both a terrorist organization and a political party. The US supports Saudi Arabia, which activily exports militant fundamentalist Islam, provides for much of Fatah's funding, etc. Does this mean US political leaders will not be able to use State Department funds to travel there?
