Cheney Shaped Tax Policies
Posted by Paul Hamilton Published: Jun 26, 07 10:00 AMWashington Post story (Part 3 of 4):
Cheney had spent months making sure the package contained everything he wanted. One thing was missing. The president had accepted Cheney's diagnosis that the sluggish economy needed a jolt, overruling senior economic advisers who forecast dangerous budget deficits. But Bush rejected one of Cheney's remedies: deep reductions in the capital gains tax on investments.
The vice president "was just hot on that," said Cesar Conda, then Cheney's domestic policy adviser. "It goes to show you: He wins and he loses, and he lost on that one."
Not for long.
Yes, you heard the shocking news on WizbangBlue first... The Vice President of the United States shaped public policy.
When Kevin first asked me about Wizbang Blue, I was a very vocal supporter. It didn't work out the way I hoped it would. - These guys are so crazy with their hatred of the Bush administration they post crazy stuff like that.
Next we'll hear shocking news that Dick Cheney was *gasp* allowed in the Whitehouse.

So, let me see if I can get the details of this scandal straight:
Bush took advice from Cheney, his VP, except for when he didn't.
OTOH, we're told that Bush doesn't listen enough to his advisers, except, of course, when he does, but then it is bad advice.

Translation: Blue picked up on a hit piece in the WaPo BLOG (the url even says blog.washingtonpost.com), part of a series of hit pieces on the Veep from the BDS-infected WaPo BLOG, and therefore our own BDS-soaked brains thought it would be great fun to post it.
And now Paul and Lee are desperately trying to spin this as "serious blogging" to keep Kevin from deciding that Blue has, in a short 2 months, sunk to the level of DU; which decision would probably have Kevin pulling the plug.
In short, ignore Paul and Lee... they're desperate to keep the forum that they were too lazy to build on their own.

I'd have to agree with Lee. After all, he is the renowned expert on latching on to a single point and running it into the ground. For example, I once made a trivial error in a piece on Harry Reid's shady land deals, and he harped on it long after I corrected it. Another time, I mentioned that I don't care for casual profanities. Lee found an example when, in a moment of anger, I chose to use some strong language to express myself and harped on that one endlessly -- choosing to note my use of the "casual" qualifier.
Yup, I think anyone would have to defer to Lee on this area. He's made an art out of it.

Wow. Over a year ago, Lee says he has some suspected sock puppets. I stupidly make the mistake of taking him seriously and wait for him to actually follow up on that for months until he finally admits he was talking out of his ass. (Er, LYING!!!!!)
I drop it then.
Now, he brings it up again as an example of my "obsession" after I cite two OTHER examples of his own fixating tendencies. And because I remember the details and repeat that he was utterly bullshitting that time (dang, my mistake -- he was LYING!!!!!), I'm the one who won't let it go.
Most people, when they realize they're in a hole, eventually realize they should stop digging. Lee, on the other hand, rents a backhoe and (if I may mix my metaphors) insists that "there's gotta be a pony in here somewhere!"
The really sad part is that dealing with his asshattery (sorry again -- LYING!!!!!), both publicly and privately, has kept me from doing what I love most around here -- posting original material. I guess for that, Lee can claim a modicum of victory.
But he's still a Grade-A dipshit.
And a LIAR!!!!!
(Remember, when talking about Lee, it's "LYING!!!!!" and "LIAR!!!!!," with exactly five exclamation points -- no more, no less.)
