He didn't make an impact so he just didn't have a chance.
Former Virginia Gov. James S. Gilmore III is dropping his underdog bid for the Republican presidential nomination today, he told The Politico in an interview.Gilmore said he has been approached about running for Virginia governor a second time, and about running for U.S. Senate if Sen. John W. Warner (R) retires. Gilmore said he will consider both options. Reflecting his long-held interest in Old Dominion politics, he said he will start a political action committee to support Republicans running for the state senate and House of Delegate.
I would love to see him replace Senator Warner. He'd be a huge improvement.

Agreed. I think describing it as being a "huge improvement" is a huge understatement.
Warner needs to set out for the 19th hole. He is one of the last of the country club Republicans.

Gilmore was a decent governor and held the line on taxes. The past and current democrat fools have raised taxes and fee's on everything in the state not once but twice. A stupid democrat can't get enough of the working people's money to distribute to his friends, all millionaire's.
Warner is a total RINO loser and Gilmore should run against him, retirement or not.

One hit wonders from Illinois (who hit the big time when their opponent was breaking the law) that have no experience and "get tired" and make fools of themselves
A New York Senator that has negatives which would make Nixon blush.
A blow dried pandering ...well, you get the point.
New Mexico speed freaks who have "relations" with North Korea as their only resume entry
Plagiarizers from Delaware with hair implants
One slice of bread in a well known sex sandwich

If you have to know...
It will come down to Guliani or Thompson
And Obama and Hillary.
Now, even a deaf, dumb and blind kid knows that between Guliani and Thompson, it will be a fight, but one with few casualties. Romney, the left's favorite dog killer, will be a good Veep.
As to Obama and Hillary, when they are through with each other the left will wish they were Mitt's dog. Hillary DOES NOT like to lose. Obama wants to win, and has big money and Hill's negatives supporting him. The question is, can the Dems survive Hill's blender through the process. I think not.

In a Giuliani vs Thompson race, my money is solidly on Thompson. Rudy, recent NASCAR race appearance aside, has real problems connecting to people in "flyover" country. Not to mention the way he announced his separation from his first (?) wife... by introducing his new mistress on TV. Not the way to win votes among conservatives.
Obama vs Hillary has to come down to Hillary. She's more experienced, a dirtier fighter, and, let's face it, she knows where too many skeletons are buried in DC not to be the candidate.
So, Thompson vs Hillary is my bet. And I'll put my money on the one with the real southern drawl (that doesn't turn it on for one appearance then lose it for the next), genial manner, and proven audience appeal.
If you can't figure out who I mean... go look at my blog, it should be obvious to anyone except the most brain-dead surrender-monkey.

Tommy my boy, I am eagerly anticipating Hillary's accention to the throne of the leftist kingdom. If anything will draw out conservatives and independents to vote, it will be her. Republicans can run Dan Quayle and win. You see, she is part of a bad past, and her unfavorable rating it still above 52%. So, crow on, but we got 2008, because Hillary is entitled because Bill says so. So ironic that you and your lefty brethren will help us win. Thanks. ww
