Police in Oakland, California believe they have cracked the case of a murdered journalist.
Chauncey Bailey was investigating "Your Black Muslim Bakery" when he was ambushed and killed last week.
Police have now raided the bakery in question and arrested several people.
Remarkably enough. all the suspects are believed to be adherents of the Religion Of Peace -- albeit a "fringe" element.
Considering the media's history (such as CNN's cooperating with Saddam's regime in covering up his atrocities to preserve their "access," I suspect we will soon see a spate of positive stories about Muslims in general, Black Muslims especially.
To paraphrase Sylvia Plath: the media adores the Fascist, the boot in the face.
They try to hide it, by calling those they dislike "fascists" and the like, but when confronted with true, brutal fascism, they cheerfully roll over and submit.
Witness Eason Jordan.
Witness Walter Duranty.
Witness the treatment of Daniel Ortega during his reign.
Witness the endless stories praising Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez.
Witness the coverage of the "apartheid" state of Israel, where people of all races, sexes, creeds, and orientations are freer than anywhere else in the region.
The way to bring the media to heel is not to condemn them. It is not even to threaten them. It is to terrorize them, and they will be your faithful lapdog. Kill a few, or kill a few innocents in front of them, and they will do all they can to curry your favor.

Though they are not technically "the media," I think we should add the entertainment industry to your list.
Case in point -- yesterday's meeting between Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez and useful idiot actor Sean Penn.
Let's review -- Chavez has nationalized (i.e. taken over) petroleum production, his nation's biggest industry; the state runs the news media in his country and he just shut down a broadcast station that has been critical of him; he has threatened to expel any foreigners in his nation who are critical of him (after calling President Bush "Satan" in front of the UN) ... and yet he is a hero to people like Sean Penn, Harry Belafonte, and Danny Glover?
Hollywood libs (Rosie, Rosanne, Penn, Sarandon, Robbins, Sheen, Midler, Streisand, Ditsy Chicks, etc.) have made a career out of criticizing Bush and accusing him of creating a fascist state that muzzles freedom of speech and wiretaps/punishes/tortures anyone who steps out of line.
My God, the irony is so thick here. It just boggles the mind.
So maybe along with the current trend of anti-war movies, Hollywood will start making movies where black militant Muslims are the heroes.

Did Sean Penn take Chavez one of his 'rub a dub tubs' (rescue boat complete with red plastic bailing cup)? The hollywood wonks will change when the religion of peace (aka murder) decide they should all die for making the filthy movies, or cartoons. The media just got one lesson as a warning. There is no such thing as a peaceful Islamist.

Meh ... I think the pro-black muslim meme crescendoed with Denzel in "X."
Seems to me that the press are more than happy to steer clear of the likes of Louis Farrakhan, and Elijah Mohammed - since, in essence, they're the photographic negative of the KKK.
Heck, non-Black muslims are more than happy to steer clear of these characters since they see "black muslims" as akin to the mormons of Islam.
They don't take kindly to Fard considering himself Allah-incarnate with Elija the messenger of such; but, for some reason, haven't gone after them as "apostates."
I guess I wouldn't go after them, either, since a goodly number of these characters are convicted felons that "turned over" while spending time looking at the outside world from the wrong side of the vertical bars.
Black muslims are really nothing more than a group of under-educated, self-serving, violent supremacists.
Say what you will about the media (and much criticism be upon them), but they're not about to champion the cause of a bunch of criminals.
Well, unelected criminals, that is.

Yo, love ya like a brother, but I gotta disagree.
The media opposes requiring IDs to vote... thereby championing the cause of those engaged in vote fraud.
The media opposes the border fence and any other truly effective method of stopping illegal immigration.
They champion the causes of "politically correct" criminals all the time. Why should this time be any different?

"Why should this time be any different?"
It's quite simple, actually, and your answer is in your question: because the cause of the Black Muslims is not, now - nor ever will be, "politically correct."
Opposing a border fence, and voter IDs, while possibly stomach-turning for most, does/could have a slice of redemption on a humanitarian/liberty level. Not that I'd agree with it, but a crafty person could make somewhat of an argument.
The cause of the Black Muslims does not have such a social redeemable concept attached.
Besides, the entire subject is wrought with political gopher holes - so many so that I'd assume the press are more than happy to ignore the matter, entirely.
It's too easy for the BM supporters to cry "racist" should someone from the media speak out against them.

Hm, calling these guys "Muslims" and holding them up as representatives of Islam is like calling the KKK "Christians", and doing the same for Christianity.
Really. The Black Muslims really are their own thing...and these guys may call themselves Black Muslims, but I bet they themselves are split off from Farrakhan's group, even. Farrakhan tends not to get involved with assassinating reporters.
Honestly, this sounds more like an organized crime ring.

JT,
Never a truer bunch of words by you were typed. News "journalists" are first and foremost, cowards. They instinctively adhere to the doctrine that states, "Above all else, save thine own butt", and all one need do is witness the treatment of said "fringes" of the "religion of peace" as compared to the constant berating of Christians and other "backwords" thinkers. The heapin' helpin' of true hostility that is flung the latters' way,on a regular basis, for saying and believing "offensive" words and thoughts, while muslims MURDER EACH OTHER and others more than any group on the planet, without any judgement whatsoever (actually, it's really Ws' fault, isn't it?) is completely truth defying.
In short, if the press were trapeze artists, they would not only have a net, they would also have a "runner" do the trick for them (behind a large curtain) and then they would report their opinion(s) of what happened, which would culminate in a series of awards and backslaps, from each other to each other, for all of there courage in the face of doom.
I don't even know how they look at themselves in the mirror. Must be hiding behind all of that doughy flesh and pancake makeup. The American Fighter deserves better.

One would hope that journalists would put aside the PC bull and aggressively pursue this story, given that the victim was one of their own. I'm not holding my breath, though. Seems like the only time journalists act indignant over the death of one of their own is when they can somehow blame the Bush administration (the death of reporters in Iraq, for example).
But the facts of this case are so disturbing...If the media act like cowards, and, as pudge so eloquently put it, "save thine own butts," it will be truly sad indeed.

I'm just saying, distinctions are in order here. We should be accurate about this, so we are aware of what we're dealing with.
This is a fringe group. They are themselves a splinter of a larger splinter group, black American Muslims. And this is a group that many non-US muslims don't even consider to be real Muslims at all, let alone representative of *their* beliefs, actions or character.
From that newspaper description, it sounds more like a cross between an organized crime ring and a cult.
So saying they represent Islam is about as accurate, IMHO, as saying those "God Hates Fags" freaks who protest military funerals represent Christianity.
