If you like 24...

I was told that if I liked "24" I would like Spike's summer drama, The Kill Point. I really do like it. If you have not been watching it, you can see an episode online here. The drama, which airs on Sunday nights, is about the hostage situation surrounding a bank robbery gone wrong. There is a hostage negotiator played by Donnie Wahlberg, a bank robber with a complicated history leading his former Marine platoon, a group of characters being held hostage including the rich socialite daughter of a Donald Trump like figure, and an assortment of other characters including FBI and police officers. I have seen the first four episodes and the last was just as suspenseful and interesting as the first.

That was the good news -- now for the bad. As is sometimes the case in "24," there is a ridiculous anti-war plotline running through some of the scenes about how the bank robbers came to this point, and talk about the evil government who did not take care of these men the war damaged. If you can get past that (and if I could, just about anyone probably could) the show is absolutely worth a look, but beware because it is highly addictive.

I have to agree. It's been fun to watch but the anti-war spew gets tiring. As for 24 - Kill Point (so far) is much better than the last season of 24.

Will you be watching "24" in its upcoming season? After all, the producers and writers are turning Jack Bauer into an Eco-Warrior.

OK I'm back. Didn't like the new layout but I'm over that.

I tried to watch this tripe but when I realized that the show was going to Vietnamize the Iraq war vets then I immediately changed channels and will not go back. Making the Iraq vets look like crazies is going to happen in drips not all at once and I refuse to be a party to that agenda. I dont care how good the drama may be do not buy into the bullshit. Nuff said.

sorry Lorie, I also am fed up with the agenda of dehumanizing our soldiers and painting them as victims or victimizers. Or both. So though I love 24 I will skip this show. thx for the heads-up! :)

I am sure I will watch 24 next season, but it better be a lot better than last season or they might not hold me for all 24 episodes.

I am really looking forward to the return of Prison Break. I love that show. Actually The Kill Point reminds me a lot of Prison Break, except for the political crap.

All I can say to those who can't stomach the anti-war stuff, I completely understand. My husband usually walks away at the slightest mention of anything like that, but with this show he was so hooked into it that his response was to grumble, but keep watching.

Lorie, I love The KILL POINT, as well. I agree that the antiwar subplot is absurd as well. The best plotline is a bank robbery that went terriby wrong. The acting is very strong and show really great despite that silly fault in the plotline.

We always seem to like the same television shows, Paul.

One thing I did like about the war subplot was when the bank robber/hostage taker met with the negotiator outside of the bank in the street and played the oppressed soldier, anti-war martyr to the press and television cameras, then basically admitted to the negotiator that he was playing them.

The acting and the dialogue and most of the plotlines are really good. I don't know if it will continue to be, but I was really impressed with the first four hours.

I just refuse to suffer their heavy-handed, self-righteous preaching, no matter how seeker-friendly they try to make it.
Maybe in a few years I'll watch the re-runs, when I can enjoy the show and laugh at the moralizing
