Fox News has just released a new Opinion Dynamics poll that indicates Rudy Giuliani remains in the lead for the Republican nomination with possibly just fourth months until voting begins. Giuliani wins the support of 30% of Republicans, up from 27% in late July. Support for Fred Thompson has edged down from 17% to 15% today. Mitt Romney is registering a slight increase, probably due to his Ames victory. He wins 12%, up from 10% in the previous poll. John McCain has seen the bottom fall out of his campaign, now registering a mere 7%. For all the expectations regarding potential electoral dividends from his second-place finish in Ames, Mike Huckabee remains stuck at 3%.

I said it probably a year ago and I'll go on record again. Rudy ain't getting the nomination.
I don't care what the polls say today.

The one person, that the left wing of the donkey party is scared of it is Rudy. He will win the nomination and in the general election he will carry no less then 37 states.

Paul I think your going to be disappointed. Many, many conservatives
are being pragmatic rather than idealogical(which gets you squat)in
supporting Rudy...he can win...he is the only Republican who can.

KNOW THIS: Rudy will nominate Justices that will NOT approve the "al kkkeda bill of rights" (which sen. McCain fought for and got) and as a natural by-product, those same common sense judges will be more likely to overturn, the very horrible, Roe v. Wade decision.
Rudy burns to defend this nation. He's also "pro-choice" and wrong on homosexual "rights" but he doesn't have a passion to realize those "ideals". Who could ? Well, who but a feminazi, registered dem, college prof. etc. that is ? And those are surely a dying out, by their own creed, sort of a culture of death breed anyway, so there IS a light at the end of the tunnel, and, unlike for thousands of babies every year, it is not the sterile light of the "doctors'" office.
Rudy is not perfect but he gives me hope. The selfrighteous, the self serving, the destructive, those suffering from real tunnel vision, those are the ones who gave us "Wretcher of the House, nancy pelosi" and "Majority leader reid", NOT people who wanted us to lose in Iraq, and raise taxes, and increase regulations, and the min. wage, and gov. control over our lives.
No, if Rudy loses for the lack of the repub. base, then this country will deserve the clicking hot cities of nuclear destruction that it will surely have to endure. Just remember, if America goes, there will be NO safe place on earth for you, infidel.

Yes. If he can get the domination. I've said on dozens of occasions if Rudy where running as a Democrat he'd be the next President.

It's not a disappointment because I'm not telling you what I WANT to happen, I'm giving you my read as an analyst. -- Well ok I'll be disappointed if my analytical skills are lame but that's the extent of it.
Frankly, I don't have a dog in the fight yet... and may not for some time.
>many conservatives are being pragmatic
That's not what our primary system lends itself to. You maybe right but I strongly doubt it. Conservatives tend to not be pragmatic on election day. Just ask George H. W. Bush.

What is the Republican Party to do?
In 2004,; It rightfully chanted "flip-flop...flip-flop" to that flip-flopper Kerry (who deserved to lose)...However, is there one of the top Republican Candidates that does not deserve the chant?
Huck seems to be the only one who has demonstrated consistency......but has no chance...
If Rudi is the nominee then the Republican Party will have turned away from the past decade of social issues......is that possible?

If Fred Thompson actually enters the race after Labor Day, then that's probably too late to assemble enough decent state organizations in just four scant months before the first real presidential test.
Mitt Romney will be the early winner in Iowa and New Hampshire contests, but the superior Giulini organization will wrap up the nomination early in February. And Hillary has as good as won the Democratic contest already as well. No drama here. It's almost certain to be Giuliani vs. Clinton in the 2008 matchup.
