The Arizona Republic reports the press conference of Ginger Gilbert, via Rusty Shackleford at The Jawa Report:
Ginger Gilbert, making her first public comments since the video emerged last week, said Tuesday that she couldn't remain silent after watching media coverage of a "disturbing video" of the corpse, identification card and crash site of her husband, Maj. Troy Gilbert."When media chooses to use Troy's plane crash as a political catalyst to generate anti-war sentiment, it only serves to degrade the moral integrity my husband possessed and the morale of those still selflessly serving," Gilbert said at news conference at Glendale's Falcon Dunes Golf Course, across from Luke.
"Every time the press lends credibility and significance to terrorist propaganda clearly designed to erode public support or questions the validity of our brave soldiers' selfless acts of service and the war itself," she added, "it only serves to damage our country from within its own borders and embolden those who would do us harm."
Flanked by friends and family members clasping hands, Gilbert thanked Arizonans, the Air Force and her Desert Springs Community Church in Surprise for serving as a "shield of protection for my family's welfare and betterment over the last 10 months."

Curious and totally random observation. In recent discussions about the intrinsic non-violence of mothers (not) someone made a comment something like... men are made to be expendable (in an evolutionary sense, they do the risky jobs) to protect the next generation while women must survive to guard the children and make sure they grow up. (Which is why focused women can be so ruthless and yes, violent.)
As tragic as Major Gilbert's death is, I'm filled with joy to know that he had five children. Our culture tends to see children as an indulgence rather than a purpose and a joy. I'm willing to bet Troy and Ginger view children as a purpose and a joy. And I'm willing to bet that her obvious strength comes from that purpose.
I think the saddest thing is when a warrior dies without having children. Maybe I have something in common with the Spartans, who supposedly only sent fathers of sons in that group of 300, because it seems instinctively right to me.
And it seems to me that the fierce defenders are those who have more children and the anti-war agitators are those who who generally have fewer, and who are shocked and disapproving when they see Ginger with her brood (I only have four... I *know* how people react to Ginger.)
Maybe it's about winning something better for the next generation and without that generation the sacrifice seems worthless.

The line of outstanding Americans like Mrs. Gilbert, Gen. Patraeus, the President and Vice President, everyone serving in uniform etc. will continue to grow until it circles the country a thousand times, until and unless the self-hating scum that beckons our enemy to slaughter more of our best, because it fits their agenda like a glove, is finally shut down and shut up.
If you think what they did to Mrs. Gilbert is just as legitimate as the people who are trying to help us win this war against islamo-nazism, you are not just a fool, but you are dangerous. To think that chosing sides (like, oh say, YOUR OWN) during a time of war is narrow minded, or that nationalism is bad, is to be a non-American, an "anti-American", if you will. You should not live here. If you think your country should lose a war - BY DESIGN- because you disaprove of it (the war OR the country), then you don't deserve to be a part of that country.
Please leave us, all of you biggoted (towards innocent freedom lovers), racist (these are some 25 million non-whites we are helping that you want to betray and feed to the wolves), sexist (your efforts will lead to the mutilation, torture, death and total submission to the will of men, of millions of women who now vote AND run for office to affect their own destiny), homophobes (do I really need to explain this one ?). For that matter, you've already left the human race, so why don't you just devolve back to the apes that you must certainly commune with on a regular basis, judging by some of the hateful, irrational, thoughtless and destructive conclusions that you come to in the form of mindless, tire swinging, knuckle dragging, poo flinging rants on this here blog.
In lieu of that, do ya think you could look up the word, HUMILITY, or, SHAME ? How about, GRATITUDE? Ironic, that those who whine so vociferously about hearings (from 50 years ago) to find communist infiltrators, are now the ones who "have no shame", isn't it ?

We need more women, wives, and girlfriends like her on the homefronts, to offset the despicable stupidity of the half-wits out there, and hopefully this woman's bravery will inspire others.
Additionally, it is about damned time that someone calls it as it is - the media aiding and abetting those who would kill and wound our soldiers, and our civilians if they are given the chance. I believe someone on this thread has either confused disgust, revulsion and distaste for hate, or again is purely cognizant of his disingenuous behavior and is foolish enough to continue the sad behavior for whatever delusion of grandeur it provides him.
Sadly, he gains an ego boost each time his name is mentioned.
Now as far as the original thread goes, I cheer and support those who stand for truth against the machinations of the media and our enemies. He who will not be named wonders not innocently, whether I would cheer someone, whoever how sadly motivated, chooses to perceive things in a different light. Obviously I do not, and though I certainly support anyone's right to state their opinions, I also cherish my right to cheer who I choose, and not who others feel I should. I am not going to spend one iota of effort criticizing the statements of a mourning sibling. Nor to I criticize anyone for having an opinion that supports his feelings. I equally criticize those with a political, economic or treasonous motivations would manipulate the death of any US warrior to a purpose far removed from that warrior's ideals, efforts and accomplishments.
I have been trying to avoid comparing the two bereaved, as I don't think that's a fair use of either of their statements in a battle of those who support the war vs those who do not. He who I will not named further seems to believe otherwise. I believe Ginger's statements are strong, clear, poignant and relevant. Kevin's speak to a different audience and purpose. I agree with her. Whether I agree with him or not does not affect my support of her statements. Those, like he who I will not name further, are deluded into thinking that by setting up such disingenuous questions they can defuse or detract from her position, or those that cheer her on. Instead they simply reveal themselves for the slime that they are, invite disgust and revulsion, and detract from whatever legitimacy there may ever have been to their argument.
