Whoever came up with this idea, Rudy needs to stomp on it.
Giuliani party seeks $9.11 per personWASHINGTON - A supporter of Rudy Giuliani's is throwing a party that aims to raise $9.11 per person for the Republican's presidential campaign.
Abraham Sofaer is having a fundraiser at his Palo Alto, Calif., home on Wednesday, when Giuliani backers across the country are participating in the campaign's national house party night.
But Sofaer said he had nothing to do with the "$9.11 for Rudy" theme.
"There are some young people who came up with it," Sofaer said when reached by telephone Monday evening. He referred other questions to Giuliani's campaign.
Why not just ask for $29.93 one penny for every dead body on 9/11?
It's a bad idea on so many levels I'm surprised it made it as far as it did. I'm sure someone thought it was an inspired idea. They where wrong. I've worked enough campaigns to understand that sometimes volunteers will work against the campaign's message. I'm assuming that is the case here but the campaign needs to step and squelch this. Quickly.

Totally agree, Paul. Giuliani has to be very careful to emphasize his capabilities when faced with a terrorist attack while not appearing as if he is capitalizing on on 9/11.
Whomever on his staff who came up with that idea should be fired. Yesterday.

By the way, I heard Hillary is having a higher dollar amount fundraiser as well the same weekend. The amount I believe was $666.

I guess I'm missing something here. What exactly is it you object to? Is it the small amount? The tie-in to 9/11? Or the fact it is Rudy's campaign who would benefit?
When I worked on Congressional campaigns and managed fundraisers, we were grateful for every Grandma who gave $5. We returned contributions, many of them, that were only $1 and often got lambasted for denying those seniors on fixed incomes their right to feel as if they contributed something, even if only a dollar at a time.
I'm sick of Rudy's "me me me, I I I" campaign rhetoric as if he is the only person in the country who has singlehandedly prevented further attacks and the only one who was a stand-up guy during 9/11. He is a one-noter. But, I must be missing something in your outrage. I just don't see it.

Giuliani is a ghoul. He's using corpses of firefighters and other first responders to raise funds. He'll probably try to distance himself from the $9.11 contribution idea, but not after reminding everybody that it was he who stood atop the smoldering pile of dead bodies. The people who were most affected by the attack on 9/11 do not like him and do not want him to represent them as President--why isn't that enough for those of you 30 percenters that currently find him to be an appealing candidate? He's a fear-mongering sleaze.

Guiliani may have had his "Al Gore 'I invented the internet' moment on the campaign trail.
He is quoted, more than once as saying "I investigated Yasser Arafat before anybody knew who he really was." This is in his role in the investigation of the 1985 hijacking of the cruise ship Achille Lauro.
The problem is, Arafat had already been on the cover of Time magazine three times: December 1968, November 1974, and March 1978 before Rudy discovered him.

Several others deserve honorable, at least occasional mention. The rest are useful as an example of the paucity of the intellect of much of the radical left. It's only pumped up with Soros money. Without it, the left might actually recover the proud heritage it has for generating new ideas. Now it's an awful mishmash of dissonating themes.

I almost did, but I waited a couple weeks to see the behavior of the people I would be associated with and I decided it would not be a good idea. Now that they've been around for a while I see that I was right.
